Quick Setup Guide
This guide covers the optical digital audio connection, the most common type.
- Place The ZVOX Speaker: Position the speaker anywhere in front of your TV, or on any level surface near the TV (above, below, left, or right). Ensure the speaker faces the viewers for best performance.
- Connect Power Cord: Connect the power cord to the speaker's power jack, then plug the AC adapter into a power receptacle. The AV100 powers on, indicated by the blue light blinking four times.
- Connect the Optical Signal Cable: Connect the supplied optical cable from your TV's optical digital output jack (TOSLINK) to the ZVOX AV100. Remove any protective plastic covers from the cable ends. Align the cable's plug with the TV's optical jack for a secure connection (you may hear a click). If your TV lacks an optical jack, use an analog cable (see alternative connections).
- Turn Off Your TV's Internal Speakers: Access your TV's audio menu and disable the internal speakers. This prevents audio echo and ensures the signal goes to the ZVOX speaker. Consult your TV manual or ZVOX support if unsure.
Alternative Ways To Connect The AV100 TV Speaker
If your TV does not have an optical audio output, use one of these analog connections:
a. Minijack Analog Audio Out:
Connect a 3.5mm audio output or headphone jack on your TV to the AV100's MINIJACK INPUT using the supplied "Miniplug to Miniplug" cable. If using a headphone jack, set the TV volume to 50-75% of maximum.
b. Red and White RCA Jack Analog Audio Out:
Connect the "OUTPUT" marked red and white RCA jacks on your TV to the AV100's MINIJACK INPUT using the supplied cable (stereo miniplug to RCA plugs). Ensure you connect to the "OUTPUT" jacks, not "INPUT".
c. Connect To Your Cable Or Satellite TV Set Top Box:
If your TV's audio output is inaccessible or unavailable, connect your cable or satellite set-top box's audio output (usually red and white RCA jacks) to the AV100's MINIJACK INPUT using the supplied stereo miniplug to RCA cable.
Audio Signal Cable Guide
The AV100 includes three cables for connecting to TVs or set-top boxes:
- Standard optical plug to mini optical plug cable.
- Analog miniplug to analog miniplug cable.
- Left and right RCA plugs to analog miniplug cable.
Note: An optical miniplug to optical miniplug cable is required if your TV has an optical minijack output (not supplied).
Placement Options
Most users place the ZVOX speaker in front of the TV. It can also be placed on any level surface near the TV (above, below, left, or right). Choose a position that directs the sound towards the viewers. The owner is responsible for secure installation. Do not place objects on top of the speaker.
Button Functions on the ZVOX Remote Control
- Power: Switches the speaker between ON and STANDBY. Blue light blinks 4 times (ON), amber light blinks 4 times (STANDBY). The AV100 enters STANDBY if no audio signal is received for 20 minutes.
- Mute: Mutes the speaker. Amber and blue lights blink simultaneously when MUTE is active. The AV100 enters STANDBY if left in MUTE for over 5 minutes.
- Volume: Use the ▲ (Up) and ▼ (Down) buttons. The amber light indicates volume increase, and the blue light indicates volume decrease. Lights flash to show volume steps. Holding a button continuously adjusts volume.
- AccuVoice: Selects voice enhancement levels (AccuVoice 1 through 6). The blue light blinks indicate the level (e.g., 2 blinks for AccuVoice 2). Pressing the button cycles through levels. After AccuVoice 6, it returns to AccuVoice 1 (indicated by amber then blue blink). The selected setting is retained.
