Danfoss ICAD 600A / ICAD 1200A Quick Start Guide
This guide provides essential information for the initial setup and operation of the Danfoss ICAD 600A and ICAD 1200A electronic control units.
Before you start using ICAD:
⚠️ 24 Volt d.c. ONLY
Initial Setup (Steps 1-3)
Step 1: Connect the ICAD unit
Attach the ICAD unit to the ICM valve. Ensure the connection is tightened clockwise (CW).
Step 2: Wire the ICAD unit
Connect the wiring to the terminal box. The terminal box is not supplied by Danfoss.
Terminal Connections:
Ref. | Colour | Description | Type |
---|---|---|---|
A | Black | Common Alarm | Digital Output |
B | Brown | ICM fully open | |
C | Red | ICM fully closed | |
D | Orange | GND ground | |
E | Yellow | 0/4 - 20 mA Input | |
F | Green | 0/2-10 V input or digital input for on/off control | |
G | Blue | 0/4-20 mA Output | |
I | Black | Fail safe supply | Supply |
II | White | Supply voltage | |
III | Brown | 24 V d.c. |
* Uninterruptable Power Supply
⚠️ 24 Volt d.c. ONLY
Important Note on Voltage Drop: Please observe cable voltage drop. The distance between the applied d.c. transformer and the ICAD terminal box may cause a voltage drop. The cross-section of cables and the size of the d.c. transformer must be calculated so that the voltage at the ICAD terminal box is within the specified range (Min. 21 V d.c., Max. 26.4 V d.c.) at all times, both during standstill and operation. Do not measure inside the ICAD itself.
Prefabricated ICAD cable length:
Code number | Voltage ICAD terminal (600A/1200A) [V d.c.] | Length |
---|---|---|
027H0426 | 21 | 1.5 m |
027H0438 | 22 | 3 m |
027H0427 | 23 | 10 m |
027H0435 | 24 | 15 m |
Step 3: Power On
Connect the power supply.
Programming the ICAD (Step 4)
Valve size setup (mandatory)
When powering up the ICAD, 'A1' will flash in the display.
Procedure:
- Hold down the [Enter] button for 2 seconds to enter programming mode.
- Press [Increase value] until you reach parameter 10.
- Press [Enter] to go to parameter 10.
- Press [Increase value] until you reach parameter 11 (password).
- Press [Enter] to confirm.
- Press [Increase value] until you reach parameter 26.
- Press [Enter] to confirm.
Selecting ICM size or CVE:
- Press [Decrease value] or [Increase value] to select the correct ICM size or CVE. The available options are:
- 1: ICM 20 with ICAD 600A
- 2: ICM 25 with ICAD 600A
- 3: ICM 32 with ICAD 600A
- 4: ICM 40 with ICAD 1200A
- 5: ICM 50 with ICAD 1200A
- 6: ICM 65 with ICAD 1200A
- 7: ICM 100 with ICAD 1200A
- 8: ICM 125 with ICAD 1200A
- 9: ICM 150 with ICAD 1200A
- 10: CVE pilot with ICAD 1200A
After selection, the display will show the selected valve label ID (e.g., 'ICM 20-A').
The ICAD unit will now calibrate the ICM/CVE.
Hold down the [Enter] button for 2 seconds to exit programming mode.
Changing analogue input signal (optional) (Step 5)
Procedure:
- Hold down the [Enter] button for 2 seconds to enter programming mode.
- Press [Increase value] until you reach parameter 03.
- Press [Enter] to confirm.
- Press [Decrease value] or [Increase value] to select the desired analogue input signal:
- 1: 0-20 mA
- 2: 4-20 mA* (default factory setting)
- 3: 0-10 V
- 4: 2-10 V
- Press [Enter] to confirm.
Hold down the [Enter] button for 2 seconds to exit programming mode.
Note: If an 'A3' alarm occurs, the analogue input signal is out of range.
Factory reset of ICAD
- Disconnect power.
- Press and hold the [Decrease value] and [Enter] buttons simultaneously while reconnecting power.
- Release the buttons when the display shows 'A1'.
Note: If a factory reset has been performed, the ICAD will start flashing 'A1' in the display.
