System Overview

This guide details the basic residential installation for DIRECTV Genie systems. It covers the connection of the DIRECTV SlimLine dish to the Genie DVR and subsequent Genie Mini Clients.

Key Components:

Dish and Multiswitch Connection

The DIRECTV SlimLine dish is the primary satellite reception component. It connects to a multiswitch, which distributes the satellite signal to the various receivers.

Tuner Allocation:

Important Note: No power inserter is required for dishes equipped with built-in multiswitches.

Wiring Recommendation: Use Solid Copper Core wiring throughout the installation for optimal signal transmission.

The connection from the dish to the multiswitch is typically handled by a single cable, which then splits to multiple outputs for the receivers.

DVR and Client Connections

The Genie DVR connects to the red-centered port on the splitter. No power inserter is needed for this connection.

Internet Connectivity: The Genie DVR can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi.

The Genie DVR serves as the central hub for the system, distributing the satellite signal to the Genie Mini Clients.
