INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

IMPORTANT! Only use the adaptor supplied with this appliance.

General

  • Always inspect the appliance before use to ensure the trimmer blades are free from hair, debris etc.
  • Use on clean, dry hair that has been combed until tangle-free.

Oiling Instructions

  • For optimum cutting performance, it is highly recommended to oil the blades after every use.
  • When using the oil for the first time, unscrew the cap and cut off the very end of the plastic tube with a pair of scissors.
  • Remove the comb guide and switch the appliance on.
  • Holding the trimmer at a 45 degree angle, gently squeeze the oil tube and apply 2 drops directly onto the blades.
  • Leave the unit on for a further few seconds to allow the oil to thoroughly spread along the length of the blades.
  • Switch off the unit and remove any excess oil by gently dabbing with a cloth before using on hair.

Charging the appliance

  • This trimmer is equipped with lithium ion batteries.
  • Before using for the first time, the appliance should be fully charged continuously for 3 hours. This initial super-charge ensures optimum power performance to ensure smooth fast trimming every time. Maximum battery capacity will only be reached after 3 charging and discharging cycles.
  • Plug the charging adaptor into a suitable mains power socket and switch on at the wall. A blue LED light will continuously run up the product to indicate the trimmer is charging. When the battery is fully charged the LED light will stop running up the product and all 5 charging lights will remain alight.
  • When the trimmer is running low on charge, the bottom LED charging light will flash to warn there is approximately 3 minutes of battery use remaining. A 5 minutes charge will provide 3 minutes use. A fully charge will provide approximately 90 minutes use.
  • If LED screen display "[error code Er]" and all charging lights start to flash rapidly (more than 4 flashes per second) then the appliance is faulty. If this happens then please stop charging and remove the adapter from the mains and contact the Conair Customer Care Line. (See 'UK After Sales Service' section for further information).

Preserving the batteries

In order to maintain the optimum capacity of the rechargeable batteries, the trimmer should be fully discharged and then recharged for 3 hours every 6 months.

Using the comb guide

  • The comb guide allows you to change the cutting length of your trimmer. You'll need to experiment to find your preferred length, but as a guide, 0.4mm will give you very short stubble, whilst 1.6mm will give you a longer stubble look. 2mm+ will give you a short beard.
  • Ensure the comb guide is correctly positioned by pushing the comb guide gently downwards to secure into place.
  • Use the digital touch control '[up]' or '[down]' buttons to adjust the telescopic comb guide to the required length.
  • The cutting lengths are displayed on the LED screen in 'mm' – scroll through the available length settings with the [plus/minus buttons]. There are 24 length settings available: 0.4mm-5.0mm in 0.2mm increments.
  • Select your required length – the length setting will then remain displayed on the LED screen.

Using the trimmer without the comb guide

  • Using without the comb guide is ideal for detailing / shaping and general tidying of edges.
  • To detach the comb guide, gently hold the trimmer in one hand and with your thumb and index finger positioned at the front of the comb guide (Fig.1). Flip the comb guide to the back of the unit and lock it into position by clicking it securely onto the fastener on the back of the handle (Fig.2).
  • Switch the stubble trimmer on and the LED display will illuminate and the blades will start to move.
  • If you are looking for an ultra-close finish, you can use the trimmer without the comb guide. This will give you an extremely short cut.

Diagrams

  • Fig.1: Diagram showing the trimmer head with the comb guide detached, illustrating the blade area.
  • Fig.2: Diagram showing the trimmer with the comb guide being detached and attached to the back of the handle.

IMPORTANT: Please note when using the trimmer without the comb guide, the cutting length will be below 0.4mm. The length setting shown on the LED screen will no longer be relevant when the comb guide is detached.

Waterproof

The trimmer and comb guides are 100% waterproof and can be used in the shower and bath. Always ensure to clean and allow the trimmer to dry after each use and before storing away. (Refer to 'Cleaning & Maintenance' section for further information).

Memory Function

The stubble trimmer has a memory function that stores the last chosen length setting. When the unit is switched off the comb guide returns to 0.4mm position. When the trimmer is switched back on the comb guide automatically moves up to the last chosen length setting.

Travel lock feature

  • The stubble trimmer has a travel lock feature which will lock all buttons from activating accidentally.
  • To activate the travel lock, press and hold the '[power/lock button]' until the time display counts down from 3 to 1. When the countdown reaches 1, the lock signal is shown. ?
  • To de-activate the travel lock, press and hold the '[power/lock button]' until the time display starts to count down from 3 to 1, the motor switches on and starts running. The travel lock is now de-activated.
  • When charging for the unit, the travel lock is automatically deactivated.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

To maintain optimum performance, the appliance should be cleaned after each use:

  • Rinse the comb guide under running water and dry completely before storage or use.
  • Use the cleaning brush provided to brush away any hair from the blades.
  • Do not disassemble the blades.
  • After cleaning, switch on and oil the blades using a few drops of the lubricating oil supplied. Only use the lubricating oil supplied with the appliance as this is specifically formulated for high speed trimmers and does not evaporate or slow the blades.
