Safety Warnings & Precautions
CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. DO NOT OPEN.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the rear cover. No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.

This symbol indicates dangerous voltage within the product. This symbol indicates important instructions accompanying the product.
The Compact Disc player is classified as a CLASS 1 LASER product. Avoid exposure to hazardous radiation by not using controls or procedures other than those specified.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.
CAUTION: Match the wide blade of the plug to the wide slot and insert fully to prevent electric shock.
The apparatus must always be connected to an AC outlet with a protective grounding connection. The mains plug must be readily operable for disconnection.
Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no objects filled with liquids shall be placed on it.
UK Wiring Notice: The main lead is supplied with a fused plug. Replace fuses only with BS1362 approved fuses of the same rating. Ensure the fuse cover is fitted. If the plug is unsuitable or the cable is too short, use a suitable extension lead or consult your dealer. If cutting off the plug, remove the fuse and dispose of it safely. Never connect bare wires to a mains socket.
Wire Colour Code: BLUE = NEUTRAL, BROWN = LIVE. Connect BLUE to the terminal marked 'N' or BLUE/BLACK. Connect BROWN to the terminal marked 'L' or BROWN/RED. Do NOT connect either wire to the EARTH terminal (marked 'E' or with an earth symbol, or coloured green/green-yellow).
Environmental Disposal: Do not dispose of this product with household waste. Separate it from other wastes and recycle responsibly to promote sustainable reuse of material resources. Contact retailers or local government for details on environmentally safe recycling.
Precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation (7.5-10cm space around the unit). Do not cover ventilation slots. Do not stack anything on top or place on hot equipment. Ensure the disc tray is empty before moving. Disconnect the main plug when unused for long periods or during thunderstorms. Protect from moisture, heat, and strong magnetic/electric fields. Disconnect power if the unit malfunctions. Use for personal use only. Allow for condensation to dissipate if moved from cold to warm environments.
Battery Disposal: Batteries contain harmful chemicals; do not dispose of them in household trash.

Notes on Discs
DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) offers high-quality audio and video with Dolby Digital surround sound and MPEG-2 video compression for a cinematic experience.
Region Codes: DVD players and discs are region-coded. The player will only play discs with matching region codes. The player's region number is on the rear panel.

Discs Not to Use:
- LD, CD-G, CD-I, CD-ROM, and DVD-ROM discs may cause a "WRONG DISC FORMAT" message.
- DVD discs purchased abroad may not play due to region code restrictions.
Copy Protection:
Many DVD discs use copy protection. Connect the player directly to the TV, not to a VCR, to avoid distorted pictures from copy-protected discs. This product uses copyright protection technology authorized by Macrovision Corporation.
Disc Recording Format:
This product does not support Secure (DRM) Media files.
- CD-R Discs: Use 650MB/74 minute discs. Discs over 700MB/80 minute may not play. Ensure CD-Rs are properly "closed". Some CD-RW media may not be playable.
- CD-R MP3 Discs: Supports ISO 9660 or Joliet format. MP3 file names should be 8 characters or less, with no spaces or special characters. Use discs recorded at 128Kbps or higher. Only files with the ".mp3" extension are supported. Multisession discs must be written consecutively. Variable Bit Rate (VBR) files may cause sound skipping. Max 500 tracks, 300 folders per CD.
- CD-R JPEG Discs: Supports ISO 9660 or Joliet format. Only files with the ".jpg" extension are supported. Multisession discs must be written consecutively. Max 9,999 images per CD. Kodak/Fuji Picture CDs are best supported.
- DVD±R/RW, CD-R/RW DivX Discs: Supports specific DivX formats. Software updates for incompatible formats are not supported (e.g., QPEL, GMC, resolutions > 800x600). High frame rate sections may not play. Visit www.divxnetworks.net for more information.

Front Panel
1. Disc Tray: For inserting discs.
2. Function button: Selects input source.
3. Stop (■) button: Stops playback.

5. Volume Control: Adjusts audio volume.

Remote Control
The remote control operates the DVD receiver and can also control some TV functions.
Remote Control Buttons:
1. DVD RECEIVER button: Selects DVD receiver mode.
2. TV button: Selects TV mode.
3. TV/VIDEO button: Switches between TV and Video input on the TV.
4. POWER button: Turns the unit or TV on/off.
5. Number (0-9) buttons: For direct input.
6. REMAIN button: Displays remaining time.
7. STEP button: Advances playback frame by frame.
8. Tuning Preset/CD Skip buttons: For radio tuning or skipping tracks/files.
9. VOLUME button: Adjusts volume.
10. MENU button: Accesses the main menu.
11. AUDIO button: Selects audio track.
12. PL II EFFECT button: Adjusts Dolby Pro Logic II effect settings.
13. PL II MODE button: Selects Dolby Pro Logic II mode.
14. TUNER MEMORY / SD(Standard Definition)/HD(High Definition) button: For storing radio presets or selecting video output resolution.
15. ZOOM button: Enlarges the picture.
16. SLEEP button: Sets the sleep timer.
17. SLOW, MO/ST button: Controls slow playback and Mono/Stereo audio selection.
18. EZ VIEW, NT/PAL button: Activates EZ VIEW for widescreen display or selects NTSC/PAL video format.

TUNER button: Selects Tuner mode.
USB, AUX button: Selects USB or AUX input.

38. TEST TONE button: Outputs test tones for speaker setup.
39. SLIDE MODE button: Controls JPEG slide show transitions.

Insert Remote Batteries:
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-).
3. Replace the battery cover.
Precautions: Use correct battery type, match polarity, replace both batteries simultaneously, and avoid heat/flame.
Operation Range of the Remote Control:
Effective up to approximately 7 meters (23 feet) in a straight line, and within a 30-degree horizontal angle from the sensor.
Connections
Connecting the Speakers
Turn off power and disconnect the power cord before connecting speakers.
Speaker Placement:
- Front Speakers (L/R): Position in front of the listening position, facing inwards at about 45 degrees. Tweeters should be at ear level. Align front faces with the center speaker or slightly in front.
- Center Speaker (C): Best installed at the same height as front speakers, or directly above/below the TV.
- Rear Speakers (SL/SR): Position behind the listening position. If space is limited, face them towards each other. Place 60-90cm (2-3 feet) above ear level, facing slightly downward. Sound is primarily for effects and only heard in DVD 5.1-CH or Dolby Pro Logic II modes.
- Subwoofer (SW): Position is flexible; place it anywhere.
Listening Position: Should be 2.5 to 3 times the TV screen size away from the TV (e.g., 2-2.4m for a 32" TV).
Connecting the Speakers (Procedure):
- Press the terminal tab on the back of the speaker.
- Insert the black wire into the black terminal (-) and the red wire into the red (+) terminal, then release the tab.
- Connect the plugs to the Home Theater, matching terminal and plug colors.
Important: Ensure correct polarity. Keep speakers away from children. Avoid placing speakers near a TV to prevent screen color distortion due to magnetic fields.
Connecting the Optional Wireless Receiving Amplifier:
Requires a wireless receiving module and TX card (sold separately).
Procedure:
- Connect front, center, and subwoofer speakers to the DVD Player.
- With the DVD Player off, insert the TX card into the WIRELESS connection port.
- Connect the rear speakers to the wireless receiving module.
- Plug in the wireless receiving module and turn it on.
Note: If the TX card is inserted, rear speaker outputs from the main unit are disabled. Ensure the wireless receiver module is kept away from water and obstructions for optimal performance. Wireless rear speakers only function in DVD 5.1-CH or Dolby Pro Logic II modes.
Resetting the Wireless Receiving Module: If communication fails or the Link indicator doesn't light up, reset the system by holding the REMAIN button (5 sec) while the unit is off, then press the RESET button on the receiver module, and finally turn on the main unit.
Connecting the Video Out to your TV:
Choose one of four methods:
- METHOD 1: HDMI (Best Quality): Connect HDMI OUT to HDMI IN on the TV.
- METHOD 2: Component Video (Better Quality): Connect Component Video Output (Pr, Pb, Y) jacks to Component Video Input jacks on the TV. Use COMPONENT SELECT function to set mode to
. - METHOD 3: Scart (Better Quality): Connect AV OUT to SCART IN on the TV. Use COMPONENT SELECT function to set mode to
. Use VIDEO SELECT function to choose between COMPOSITE and RGB for Scart. - METHOD 4: Composite Video (Good Quality): Connect the supplied Video cable from VIDEO OUT to VIDEO IN on the TV.
Note: This product operates in Interlace scan mode (576i, 480i) for component output.
HDMI Function:
HDMI transmits digital video and audio signals for a clearer picture. Use the SD/HD button to select resolution (576p/480p, 720p, 1080i). Composite and component video signals are not output when HDMI is connected.
Connecting Audio from External Components:
Connect the AUX IN (Audio) on the Home Theater to the Audio Out of external analog components (like a VCR) using an audio cable. Press the AUX button on the remote to select
Connecting the FM Antenna:
Connect the supplied FM antenna to the FM 75Ω COAXIAL Jack. Move the antenna to find the best reception location.
Operation
Before Reading the User's Manual:
Familiarize yourself with the icons used in the manual: DVD, CD, MP3, JPEG, DivX, CAUTION, NOTE.
Before Using Your Home Theater:
Remote Control for TV and Home Theater:
- Plug in the main unit. Check voltage compatibility.
- Set the remote to TV mode using the TV button.
- Turn on your Samsung TV using the POWER button.
- Select VIDEO mode on your TV using the TV/VIDEO button.
- Switch to DVD RECEIVER mode using the DVD RECEIVER button.
- Enable DVD/CD playback using the FUNCTION button or DVD button.
Selecting the Video Format: Press and hold the NT/PAL button (power off) to select NTSC or PAL format.
Disc Playback:
- Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray.
- Load a disc with the label facing up.
- Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the tray. Playback starts automatically.
Stopping Playback: Press STOP (■). Pressing once stores the position (DVDs only); pressing twice stops from the beginning.
Pausing Playback: Press PLAY/PAUSE (►/||). Press again to resume.
Note: Pirated discs may not play due to copy protection.
MP3/WMA-CD Playback:
Place the MP3/WMA disc. Use cursor buttons to select albums and tracks, then press ENTER. Use FUNCTION or DVD button to select USB mode. Use STOP to stop playback. Safe USB removal: Press STOP twice, then remove the USB cable.
JPEG File Playback:
Place the JPEG disc. Playback starts automatically. Use SLIDE MODE to control transitions. Use search buttons (►►/◄◄) to skip slides. DIGEST button shows 9 images at once. Rotate/Flip function allows image manipulation.
DivX Playback:
Supports DivX video format. Use skip, fast playback, and zoom functions. Select audio tracks and subtitles. Supports specific DivX versions and formats; visit www.divxnetworks.net for details.
Using the Playback Function:
- Displaying Disc Information: Press INFO button to view disc details.
- Checking Remaining Time: Press REMAIN button to view title/chapter elapsed/remaining time.
- Fast Playback: Use ►►/◄◄ buttons for faster playback (2x, 4x, 8x, 32x). Sound may be limited at higher speeds for CDs.
- Slow Playback: Use SLOW button for slow motion playback (no sound).
- Skipping Scenes/Songs: Use cursor buttons (►►/◄◄) to skip to the next/previous chapter or track.
- Repeat Playback: Press REPEAT button to cycle through repeat modes (Chapter, Title, Track, Directory, Disc, Off).
- A-B Repeat Playback: Designate a start (A) and end (B) point for repeated playback of a DVD section.
- Step Function: Advances playback frame by frame.
- Angle Function: Select different camera angles if available on the disc.
- Zoom Function: Enlarge specific areas of the picture (up to 2x for DivX).
- EZ VIEW Function: Removes black bars from widescreen content.
- Audio Language Selection: Press INFO twice, then use cursor buttons to select audio language.
- Subtitle Language Selection: Press INFO twice, then use cursor buttons to select subtitle language.
- Moving Directly to a Scene/Song: Use INFO, cursor, and numeric buttons to navigate to specific titles, chapters, or times.
- Using the Disc Menu: Access disc-specific menus for audio, subtitles, etc.
- Using the Title Menu: Navigate through different titles on a DVD.
Playing Media Files using the USB Host Feature:
Connect USB devices (MP3 players, cameras, flash drives) to the USB port. Select USB mode. Play files. Perform safe USB removal before disconnecting.
Setup
Setting the Language:
Navigate to Setup > LANGUAGE > OSD LANGUAGE to select the on-screen display language (default is English). Audio, Subtitle, and Disc Menu languages can also be set.
Setting TV Screen Type:
Navigate to Setup > TV DISPLAY to adjust the aspect ratio (4:3PS, 4:3LB, WIDE/HDTV) to match your TV type for optimal viewing.
Setting Parental Controls (Rating Level):
Restrict playback of adult or violent DVDs. Set a rating level and password (default "7890").
Setting the Password:
Set or change the parental control password. If forgotten, reset the unit by holding STOP for 5 seconds in "No DISC" mode.
Setting the Wallpaper:
During playback, press PLAY/PAUSE, then LOGO to copy an image as wallpaper. Up to 3 wallpapers can be set.
DivX (R) Registration:
Use the registration code at www.divx.com/vod for DivX video on demand services.
Setting the Speaker Mode:
Adjust speaker settings (Small, None) for each speaker (Front, Center, Rear, Subwoofer) based on your configuration.
Setting the Delay Time:
Adjust delay times for center and rear speakers to compensate for different listening distances, ensuring synchronized sound arrival.
Setting the Test Tone:
Navigate to Audio > TEST TONE to play test tones through each speaker sequentially, verifying connections. Not available when HDMI AUDIO is ON.
Setting the Audio:
Access SOUND EDIT to adjust speaker balance and levels for front/rear speakers and center/rear/subwoofer levels.
Setting the DRC (Dynamic Range Compression):
Balances loud and quiet sounds for comfortable night viewing of Dolby Digital content.
Setting the AV SYNC:
Adjust audio delay time (0-300 ms) to synchronize audio with video, especially for digital TV connections.
Setting the HDMI Audio:
Toggle HDMI audio output ON (to TV speakers) or OFF (to home theater speakers).
Sound Field (DSP)/EQ Function:
Select DSP modes (Studio, Club, Hall, Movie, etc.) or EQ settings (Rock, Pop, Classic) to simulate different acoustic environments or optimize sound for music genres. Available in STEREO mode.
Dolby Pro Logic II Mode:
Select audio modes like MUSIC, CINEMA, PRO LOGIC, or MATRIX for enhanced surround sound effects. Connect external devices to AUDIO INPUT jacks.
Dolby Pro Logic II Effect:
Adjust PANORAMA, C-WIDTH, and DIMENS settings within MUSIC mode for specific surround sound effects.
Miscellaneous
Listening to Radio:
Press TUNER to select FM band. Tune stations manually or use automatic tuning. Preset stations using TUNER MEMORY. MO/ST button selects Mono/Stereo.
About RDS Broadcasting:
RDS provides additional information (PTY, PS NAME, RT, CT, TA) from FM stations. Press RDS DISPLAY to view this information.
Convenient Functions:
- Sleep Timer Function: Set the unit to turn off automatically after a specified time (10-150 minutes or OFF).
- Adjusting Display Brightness: Press DIMMER to adjust the front panel display brightness.
- Mute Function: Press MUTE to temporarily silence audio. Press again to restore.
Operating a TV with the Remote Control:
Set the remote to TV mode, then use the POWER button and brand-specific codes (listed in the manual) to control your TV's power, volume, and channel.
Troubleshooting:
Provides solutions for common issues like disc tray problems, playback errors, no sound, remote control issues, menu display problems, aspect ratio changes, unit not working, forgotten passwords, and radio reception problems.
Cautions on Handling and Storing Discs:
Handle discs by the edges to avoid fingerprints. Do not stick paper or tape on discs. Store discs away from direct sunlight, in a cool, ventilated area, and in protective jackets. Clean discs gently from the inside out with a mild detergent solution.

A comprehensive list of language codes is provided for setting disc audio, subtitle, and menu languages.
