General Warnings
CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT
WARNING: Risk of electric shock. Do not open the unit. The unit contains no user-serviceable parts. Servicing must be performed by qualified personnel only.
CAUTION: Do not disassemble the unit. The laser used in this unit can be harmful to the eyes.
WARNING: Do not expose the unit to moisture or humidity to prevent fire or electric shock.
Placement and Ventilation
Ensure the unit's power supply matches the rating on the identification label. Place the unit on a stable piece of furniture with adequate ventilation (7-10 cm clearance around the unit). Do not cover ventilation slots or place the unit on heat-generating equipment like amplifiers. Before moving the unit, ensure the disc tray is empty. The unit is designed for continuous use. "Standby" mode does not disconnect power; unplug the unit from the mains for complete disconnection. This is recommended for extended periods of non-use.
During thunderstorms or lightning, unplug the unit to prevent damage.
Do not place the unit in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
Internal Components
The unit contains high-voltage parts that can cause electric shock. The documentation for this unit contains important operating and maintenance information.
Battery Safety
Protect the unit from moisture and excessive heat (e.g., near a fireplace) or devices that generate strong electrical or magnetic fields (e.g., speakers). If the player malfunctions, unplug it. This product is intended for domestic use only. Unauthorized copying of CDs or downloading music files for commercial purposes may infringe copyright laws.
Condensation: If the unit or discs are moved from a cold to a warm environment (e.g., after winter transport), wait approximately two hours for them to reach room temperature to avoid serious damage.
Batteries contain environmentally hazardous chemicals. Consumers are legally obligated to return old batteries and accumulators for environmentally sound disposal. Return them to public collection points or retailers where batteries of the relevant type are sold.

DVD-Audio Compatibility

Screen Saver
The HT-P70/HT-TP75 automatically brightens and dims your TV screen after 3 minutes in Stop mode. After 20 minutes in screen saver mode, the unit automatically enters power-saving mode.
Power Saving Function
The HT-P70/HT-TP75 automatically turns off after 20 minutes in Stop mode.
Customizable Screen Background
The HT-P70/HT-TP75 allows you to select your favorite JPEG, DVD, or VCD image to use as the screen background.
HDMI
HDMI transmits DVD video signals simultaneously, delivering a clearer picture.

Connections
Connecting Speakers
Before transporting or setting up, ensure the unit is off and unplugged.
Speaker Placement: Position speakers relative to the TV screen size (2.5 to 3 times the screen diagonal) and listening position for optimal sound.
Speaker Terminal Connection: Press the clamp on the speaker terminal, insert the speaker wire (black to negative [-], gray to positive [+]), and release the clamp. Connect to the corresponding colored terminals on the rear of the unit (FRONT L/R, CENTER, REAR L/R, SUBWOOFER).
Connecting to TV
Four methods are described:
- Method 1 (Composite Video): Connect VIDEO OUT to TV VIDEO IN.
- Method 2 (Scart): Connect AV OUT to TV SCART IN. Use VIDEO SELECT to choose between COMPOSITE and RGB modes.
- Method 3 (Component Video): Connect Component Video outputs (Pr, Pb, Y) to TV Component Video inputs.
- Method 4 (HDMI): Connect HDMI OUT to TV HDMI IN for the best quality.
Note on Progressive Scan: The product operates in progressive scan mode. If the TV resolution is 576i (480i) or lower, the screen may appear split or blank.
HDMI Function
HDMI transmits digital video and audio signals without analog conversion for a sharper picture. Audio can be enabled or disabled via the HDMI AUDIO SELECT button.
Connecting External Components
Connect external digital devices via OPTICAL input and analog devices via AUDIO IN. Use the AUX button on the remote to select the input source (USB, DIGITAL IN, AUX 1, AUX 2).
Antenna Connections
Connect the FM antenna to the 75 Ω COAXIAL connector. For AM, connect the AM loop antenna. For improved AM reception, an external wire antenna can be used.
Operation
Before Using the Home Theater System
The system can play DVD, CD, MP3, DivX, and JPEG discs. Follow the instructions carefully.
Operating the TV and DVD Player with One Remote
1. Press MODE on the remote until the TV indicator lights up.
2. Press POWER to turn on the unit.
3. Press DVD to select DVD/CD mode.
4. Press TV/VIDEO to select VIDEO mode.
5. Press MODE until the DVD RECEIVER indicator lights up.
6. Press FUNCTION on the unit or DVD on the remote to select DVD/CD mode.
The remote is pre-set for Samsung TVs. Other TV brands may require programming using manufacturer codes (see page 69).
Disk Playback
1. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disk tray.
2. Insert a disk with the label facing up.
3. Press OPEN/CLOSE to close the tray. Playback starts automatically.
To Pause: Press PLAY/PAUSE (▶️⏸️). Press again to resume.
To Stop: Press STOP (⏹️). Pressing STOP twice and then PLAY/PAUSE restarts playback.
Selecting Video Format
With the unit off, press and hold NT/PAL for over 5 seconds to switch between PAL and NTSC formats.
Disk Information
Press the INFO button to display disk information. The display may vary depending on the disk type.
Checking Remaining Time
Press the REMAIN button to view the total or remaining playback time for a title or chapter.
Playback Modes
Supports Time-Lapse (◄◄/►►I), Slow Motion (SLOW), Step (STEP), Repeat (Chapter, Title, Track, Disk), and A-B Repeat playback.
File Playback (MP3, JPEG, DivX)
Instructions for playing MP3-CDs, JPEG files, and DivX videos are provided, including supported formats, file naming, and playback features like zoom and subtitles.
USB Host Playback
Connect USB devices to play media files. Supports various USB devices and file formats (FAT system only).
Remote Control Functions
Detailed descriptions of remote control buttons for playback, navigation, settings, and special functions like Zoom, EZ VIEW, and Angle.
Bonus Group
For DVD-Audio discs with a bonus group, enter the provided key number.
Audio and Subtitle Selection
Select desired audio tracks and subtitle languages using the INFO button and direction keys.
Scene/Track Selection
Directly access specific scenes or tracks using the INFO button, direction keys, or by entering time codes.
Disk Menu and Title Menu
Navigate disk menus for language, profile, and other settings. Access the Title Menu for movie titles.
Settings
Language Settings
Set the OSD (On-Screen Display) language, audio language, subtitle language, and disk menu language. A language code list is provided on page 74.
TV Display Format
Adjust the aspect ratio (WIDE, 4:3LB, 4:3PS) to match your TV screen for optimal viewing.
Parental Controls
Set user levels and passwords to restrict playback of unsuitable content. The default password is '7890'.
Screen Background
Set a favorite image as the screen background. Up to 3 custom backgrounds can be saved.
Playback Mode (DVD-Audio/SACD)
Select DVD-Video or DVD-Audio mode for DVD-Audio discs. Select SACD or CDDA mode for SACD Hybrid discs.
Speaker Settings
Configure speaker modes (SMALL/NONE) and test speaker connections using the TEST TONE function.
Delay Time
Manually adjust audio signal delay for Center and Surround speakers to synchronize sound with picture. Values can be set from 0-5 ms for Center and 0-15 ms for Surround speakers.
Audio Settings
Adjust speaker balance and levels (Front/Rear Balance, Center/Subwoofer Level) using the SOUND EDIT button.
DRC (Dynamic Range Compression)
Adjust dynamic range for clearer sound at low volumes, especially during movies.
AV SYNC
Synchronize audio and video signals when connected to a digital TV. Adjust AV SYNC Delay Time from 0-300 ms.
Sound Field (DSP)/EQ
Select sound field presets (POPS, JAZZ, ROCK, STUDIO, CLUB, HALL, MOVIE, CHURCH, PASS) or EQ settings for enhanced audio experience. This function is available in STEREO mode.
Dolby Pro Logic II
Choose between MUSIC, CINEMA, PRO LOGIC, and MATRIX modes for different audio experiences. Adjust effects like Panorama, C-Width, and Dimension.
Radio Operation
Tuning and Saving Stations
Tune into FM/AM stations using automatic or manual search. Save up to 15 stations for FM and 15 for AM.
RDS (Radio Data System)
Receive additional information from FM stations, such as Program Service Name (PS), Radio Text (RT), and Traffic Announcements (TA). The RDS indicator lights up when RDS service is available.
PTY Function
Search for radio stations by program type (e.g., NEWS, SPORTS, MUSIC) using PTY SEARCH, PTY +, and PTY - buttons.
Miscellaneous
Practical Functions
Sleep Timer: Set a timer for automatic shutdown.
Mute: Temporarily silence audio output by pressing the MUTE button.
Headphone Use: Connect headphones to the PHONES jack on the front panel for private listening. Avoid high volume levels to prevent hearing damage.
Display Brightness: Adjust the display's brightness using the DIMMER button.
Remote Control for TV
Instructions on how to program the remote to control a TV, including a list of manufacturer codes. If the remote doesn't control your TV, try the codes listed.
Troubleshooting
A table lists common symptoms and their solutions, covering issues with disk loading, playback, sound, video, remote control, and settings. If a problem persists, contact customer service.
Disk Handling and Storage
Handle disks by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the playback surface. Clean disks with a soft, damp cloth. Store disks in their cases in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
