LiftMaster Remote Controls
Models 891LM and 893LM
The LiftMaster 891LM and 893LM are remote controls designed for Security+ 2.0™ garage door openers. These remotes feature a yellow learn button and two yellow antennas. The system utilizes a rolling code technology, offering over one hundred billion unique codes for enhanced security.
WARNING: To prevent serious injury or death from entanglement or entrapment:
- Always keep remotes out of reach of children. Never allow children to operate or play with a remote.
- Only operate the door or gate when it is clearly visible, properly adjusted, and free of obstructions.
- Always keep the door or gate in view until it is completely closed. Never allow anyone to cross the path of a moving door or gate.

Programming with the Garage Door Opener
- Locate the "Learn" button on the garage door opener.
- Press and immediately release the "Learn" button. The "Learn" indicator light will illuminate steadily for 30 seconds.
- Within 30 seconds, press and hold the desired button on the remote control.
- Release the button when the garage door opener lights blink or two clicks are heard. To program additional products, press the button a second time to activate the product.
Programming with the Door Control
- Press the "LEARN" button on the door control to enter programming mode. The door control indicator light will blink once.
- Press the "LEARN" button again; the indicator light will blink once.
- Press the button on the remote control you wish to use.
- Release the button when the garage door opener lights blink or two clicks are heard. To program additional products, press the button a second time to activate the product.
Erasing All Memory Codes
Erasing an unwanted remote code will erase all previous codes. Press and hold the "Learn" button on the garage door opener or other product until the "Learn" LED turns off (approximately 6 seconds). All previous codes are now erased. Reprogram each remote you wish to use.
Controlling Garage Door Opener Lights
This feature is available on garage door openers with a multifunction door control and a multi-button remote. It is not available with an external receiver. A remote button can be programmed to operate the garage door opener lights without opening the door.
- With the door closed, press and hold the remote button you wish to assign to control the lighting.
- Press and hold the LIGHT button on the door control panel.
- Press and hold the LOCK button on the door control panel.
- Release all buttons when the garage door opener lights blink, indicating the lights are now controlled by the remote button.
To test, press the remote control button. The garage door opener lights should turn on or off, but the door should not move.
Remote Control Battery
The lithium battery should last up to 3 years. If the battery is low, the remote's LED will not blink when a button is pressed. To replace the battery:
- Lift the casing from the middle (1), then from each side (2 and 3) using a visor clip.
- Remove the used battery. Dispose of old batteries properly.
- Insert the replacement battery with the positive side facing up. Replace batteries only with 3V CR2032 coin cell batteries.
- Replace the cover.
WARNING: To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH:
- NEVER allow small children near batteries.
- If the battery is swallowed, notify a doctor immediately.
To reduce the risk of fire, explosion, or chemical burn:
- Replace batteries ONLY with 3V CR2032 coin cell batteries.
- DO NOT recharge, disassemble, heat above 100°C (212°F), or incinerate.

Using the Remote Control
Press and hold the button until the door or barrier begins to move. The remote typically functions up to a distance of three vehicles. Installations and conditions may vary. Contact an installer for more information.
3-Button Remotes
Additional buttons on the remote can be programmed to operate up to three devices, such as other garage door openers, light controls, barrier actuators, or access control systems.
