Battery and Charger Safety Information
Once your device is fully charged, disconnect the charger from the device and the electrical socket. Note that continuous charging should not exceed 12 hours. If left unused, a fully charged battery gradually discharges.
Extreme temperatures reduce battery capacity and lifespan. To optimise performance, always keep the battery at a temperature between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). A device using a hot or cold battery may not function temporarily. Note that the battery may discharge rapidly in cold weather and lose enough energy to switch off the phone in a few minutes. When outdoors in cold weather, keep your phone warm.
Observe local regulations. Recycle if possible. Do not dispose of them in a bin for household waste.
Do not expose the battery to extremely low air pressure or extremely high temperatures, such as by throwing it into a fire, as this could cause a battery explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
Do not disassemble, cut, crush, bend, pierce, or otherwise damage the battery. If a battery leaks, do not let the liquid come into contact with skin or eyes. If this happens, immediately rinse the affected areas with water or consult a doctor. Do not modify a battery or attempt to insert foreign objects into it. Do not immerse it in water or other liquids or expose it to them. Batteries may explode if damaged.
Use the battery and charger only for their intended purpose. Improper use or the use of unapproved batteries or incompatible chargers may pose risks of fire, explosion, or other dangers, and may invalidate any approval or warranty applicable to the device. If you think the battery or charger is damaged, take it to a service centre or your phone's retailer for examination before continuing to use it. Never use a damaged charger or battery. Use the charger indoors only. Do not charge your device during a thunderstorm. When the charger is not included in the sales package, charge your device using the data cable (included) and a USB power adapter (may be sold separately). You can charge your device with third-party cables and power adapters that comply with the USB 2.0 standard or later, and with applicable national regulations and international and regional safety standards. Other adapters may not meet applicable safety standards, and their use for charging your device may pose a risk of property loss or injury.
To disconnect a charger or accessory, do not pull the cord, but grasp the plug and pull.
The following instructions also apply if your device has a removable battery:
- Always switch off the device and disconnect the charger before removing covers or the battery.
- Accidental short-circuit may occur if a metallic object touches the battery's metallic contacts. This may damage the battery or the other object.
Children
Your device and its accessories are not toys. They may contain small parts. Keep them out of reach of children.
Medical Devices
Radiofrequency transmission equipment, including wireless phones, may interfere with the proper functioning of inadequately protected medical devices. Consult a doctor or the medical device manufacturer to determine if it is adequately protected from external radio energy.
Implanted Medical Devices
To avoid potential interference, manufacturers of implanted medical devices (such as cardiac pacemakers, insulin pumps, and neurostimulators) recommend maintaining a minimum distance of 15.3 centimetres between a wireless device and a medical device. People with such devices are recommended to:
- Always ensure the wireless device is kept more than 15.3 centimetres away from the medical device.
- Do not carry the wireless device in a chest pocket.
- Place the wireless device on the opposite ear from the medical device.
- Switch off the wireless device if you suspect interference may occur.
- Follow the instructions provided by the implant manufacturer.
If you wear an implanted medical device and have questions about using your wireless device, consult your doctor.
Hearing
Attention: If you use a headset, you may not be able to hear external sounds properly. Do not use headphones if doing so may compromise your safety.
Some wireless devices may interfere with the proper functioning of some hearing aids.
Protecting Your Device from Harmful Content
Your device may be exposed to viruses and other harmful content. Be careful when opening messages. They may contain malware or harm your device.
Vehicles
Radio signals can affect poorly installed or inadequately protected electronic systems in vehicles. For more information, consult your vehicle's manufacturer or its equipment. Only authorised personnel should install the device in a vehicle. Defective installation may be dangerous and void your warranty. Regularly check the installation and operation of your wireless transmission equipment in your vehicle. Do not store or transport flammable or explosive materials in the same compartment as the device, its components, or its accessories. Do not place your device or accessories in the airbag deployment zone.
Potentially Explosive Environments
Switch off your device in potentially explosive environments, such as near fuel pumps. Sparks can cause an explosion or fire, resulting in fatal injuries. Strictly observe usage restrictions in the presence of fuel, in chemical plants, or in areas where explosives are used. Areas with a potentially explosive environment are not always clearly marked. These are generally areas where it is advised to switch off vehicle engines, parts below boat decks, facilities for transferring or storing chemicals, and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles. Check with manufacturers of vehicles using liquefied petroleum gases (such as propane or butane) to see if the device can be safely used near them.
Information Relating to Certification
This mobile device complies with radiofrequency exposure guidelines.
Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It has been designed to comply with the limits set by international recommendations on radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic field exposure from the independent scientific organisation ICNIRP. These recommendations include substantial safety margins designed to ensure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health status. The recommendations are based on a unit of measurement called the specific absorption rate or SAR, which expresses the amount of RF (radiofrequency) power absorbed by the head or body while the device is transmitting. The ICNIRP SAR limit for mobile devices is 2.0 W/kg averaged over 10 grams of tissue.
SAR tests have been carried out with the device in standard usage positions, transmitting at the highest certified power level, in all frequency bands.
This device complies with RF exposure recommendations when used against the head or at least 1.5 centimetres away from the body. When a case, belt clip, or other form of body-worn support is used, it should not contain metallic parts and should provide at least the indicated body separation distance.
Sending data or messages requires a good quality network connection. Sending may be delayed until such a connection is possible. Follow the separation distance instructions until the sending is complete.
Under general usage conditions, the SAR values are generally significantly lower than those indicated above. This is because your mobile device's operating power is automatically reduced when the call does not require full power to optimise system efficiency and minimise network interference. The lower the power output, the lower the SAR value.
Different device models may have different versions and more than one value. The design and components are subject to change over time, and some modifications may affect SAR values.
For more information, visit www.sar-tick.com. Note that mobile devices may transmit even when a voice call is not in progress.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated that current scientific information does not indicate any need for special precautions when using mobile devices. If you wish to reduce your exposure level, the organisation recommends limiting your usage or using a hands-free kit to keep the device away from your head and body. For more information, explanations, and discussions on RF exposure, visit the WHO website at www.who.int/health-topics/electromagnetic-fields#tab=tab_1.
Please refer to www.hmd.com/sar for the maximum SAR value of the device.
Exposure to Electromagnetic Fields
Ministerial Decree of 15 November 2019 (This section applies only to France.) All Nokia products comply with international and, where applicable, national standards and regulations aimed at limiting user exposure to electromagnetic fields. These standards and regulations were adopted after extensive scientific research. This research has established no link between device use and any adverse health effects if the device is used in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. If you have doubts about exposure to handsets operating in compliance with these standards or directives, in accordance with French regulatory requirements, we are required to include the following precautionary statement in this User Guide: you can limit high-frequency exposure (a) by using the device in good reception conditions as indicated by the connection icon on your device's screen (to reduce radiation, especially in underground car parks, during train or car journeys, etc.), b) by ensuring reasonable use of radio equipment by children and adolescents, for example by avoiding night-time communications and limiting the frequency and duration of calls, or (c) by using a hands-free kit to keep the device away from your head and body, and especially from the abdomen for pregnant women and the lower abdomen for adolescents.
