Adding your NanoMote Quad to your Z-Wave Network
With your NanoMote Quad now powered, you can add it to your Z-Wave network.
- Place your Z-Wave primary controller/gateway into pairing/inclusion mode.
- Bring your NanoMote Quad near to your primary controller.
- Double-click the NanoMote button (any button can be used). The LED will blink rapidly with a white color.
- If your NanoMote Quad has been successfully added to your Z-Wave network, its white LED will be solid for about 10 seconds, then flash green to indicate it is awake. If the adding was unsuccessful, the red LED will be solid for 2 seconds and then turn off. Repeat the above steps if unsuccessful.
- If your NanoMote Quad does not go to sleep on its own, press and hold the button for 2 seconds (or until the LED turns orange), then release the button to put your NanoMote Quad to sleep.
Advanced Functions
Send a Wake Up Notification
To send new configuration commands, OTA updates, or receive other commands from your Z-Wave controller or gateway, the NanoMote Quad needs to be woken up.
Enable Wakeup:
- Press and hold any button for 5 seconds or until the LED turns green.
- LED will change from: Orange, then Green (at 5 seconds).
- Release the button. The LED will flash green rapidly to indicate it is in an awake state.
Disable Wakeup:
- Press and hold any button for 2 seconds or until the LED turns orange/red.
- Release the button. The LED should be deactivated.
Child Lock NanoMote
You can use the Child Lock function to disable NanoMote Quad control over your devices and scene triggers. You can toggle child lock on/off by:
- Press and hold any NanoMote button.
- LED will change from: Orange, Green, then Red (at 10 seconds of holding).
- When the LED turns red (after 10 seconds), release the button.
- Tap the button again while the second Red LED is illuminated (within 2 seconds). If successful, the red LED will flash for 1-2 seconds.
Association Table of Control Buttons
The NanoMote Quad supports 9 association groups. All control buttons can activate configured scenes by sending Central Scene Notifications to the primary controller/gateway (in association group 1). To use Association Groups, ensure your gateway or software supports setting these (e.g., Vera Group Association Setup). Refer to your gateway's manual for setting group association. This allows the NanoMote Quad to directly communicate ON/OFF or Dimming commands to your devices without going through your gateway.
Every control button can also send control commands to devices in other association groups. See the table below:
Button ID | Group ID | Action & Notification |
---|---|---|
Any button | 1 | Press: Central scene notification (Key Attributes=0) Hold: Central scene notification (Key Attributes=2) Release: Central scene notification (Key Attributes=1) |
2 | Press: Basic Set Hold: Reserve Release: Reserve | |

Testing Health Connectivity
You can determine the health of your NanoMote Quad's connectivity to your gateway using a manual button press, hold, and release function indicated by the LED color. This helps maximize battery life based on the communication health.
You can expect a maximum battery usage of 3 months with a green LED indication.
Health Test Procedure:
- Press and hold any NanoMote button for 20 seconds.
- LED will change from: Orange (approx. 2 seconds), Green (approx. 5 seconds), Red (approx. 10 seconds), Pink (approx. 15 seconds).
- Release the button when the LED status is Pink. It will remain Pink for 2 seconds.
- Within these 2 seconds of releasing the button, tap its button again to start the health detection process.
- The LED will blink pink rapidly. Once the health test finishes, the LED will change to one of three colors for 2 seconds:
- Red = Bad Health
- Blue = Moderate Health
- Green = Great Health
Note: This function will only work if the device is paired to a Z-Wave network.
Your NanoMote Quad's Battery
The NanoMote Quad features an internal rechargeable LIR2450 3.6V battery. You can charge it when the battery power is low. The charger's output should be a micro USB terminal with a specification of DC 5V and at least 1A.
The LED color is red during the charging process and turns green when charging is finished.
Note: If the battery health begins to degrade, a new LIR2450 3.6V Battery can be purchased to replace the original one.
Removing your NanoMote Quad from a Z-Wave Network
Your NanoMote Quad can be removed from your Z-Wave network at any time. This requires using your Z-Wave network's main controller/gateway. Refer to your gateway's manual for specific instructions on removing devices from your network.
Removal Steps:
- Put your primary controller into device removal mode.
- Bring your NanoMote Quad near to your primary controller.
- Double-click the NanoMote button (any button can be used). The LED will become a solid green color.
- If your NanoMote Quad has been successfully removed from your Z-Wave network, its LED will begin cycling through rainbow colors.
Manually Factory Reset NanoMote
If your gateway is no longer functioning and you need to pair your NanoMote Quad to a new Z-Wave gateway, perform the steps below to manually factory reset your NanoMote Quad. It is recommended to perform the Removal process instead if the gateway your NanoMote Quad is connected to is still functioning.
To manually factory reset, follow these steps:
- Press and hold any NanoMote button for 20 seconds.
- LED will change from: Orange, Green, Red, Pink, then Red again.
- Release the button on the second Red LED status. It will remain red for 2 seconds.
- Tap the button again while the second Red LED is illuminated (within 2 seconds).

Further Steps for Different Z-Wave Gateways
Most gateways have specific steps for using the NanoMote Quad via group association (direct control). Others may have different steps for using its scene triggers directly through the gateway for more advanced controls. Below are the known steps required for listed gateways.
- Currently none listed at this time. This section will update later in the future.
If your gateway is not listed here, please contact support to see if there are possible steps that can be used on your gateway to make it work.
