Safety Instructions
WARNING: Important safety instructions must be followed to prevent serious injury. Keep this manual for future reference. If installation is performed by a third party, this manual must be provided to the end-user, who must also be trained in the safe use of the appliance.
SCS SENTINEL motorizations comply with safety standards (EN 60335-2-103). Use of the product outside specified conditions or with non-recommended components may compromise safety. SCS SENTINEL is not liable for damages resulting from non-compliance with these instructions.
Before Installation: Ensure the gate is in good mechanical condition, balanced, and operates correctly. Verify the temperature range is suitable for the installation location. The system cannot be used with a gate incorporating a wicket gate.
Electrical Installation: Power supply installation must comply with local regulations (e.g., NF C 15-100 in France) and be performed by qualified personnel. The electrical supply must be protected by a suitable circuit breaker and residual current device. A means of disconnecting all poles of the power supply network must be provided. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified person.
Installation of the Motorization: Disconnect the motorization from its power source before installation. Avoid risk zones and ensure no crushing hazards exist. Be aware that manual disconnection may cause uncontrolled movement. Fixed control devices (keypads, key selectors) should be installed 1.5m from the ground, away from moving parts, and within sight of the gate. Photocellules are mandatory for automatic closing or remote operation without direct view. A flashing light may be required if the gate opens onto a public road. Ensure the mechanism is correctly adjusted and safety devices function properly. Attach the manual disconnection label permanently.
Using the Motorized System: This appliance can be used by children aged 8+ and persons with reduced capabilities if supervised or instructed. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance should not be done by unsupervised children. Supervise the gate during operation and keep people away. Do not deliberately hinder gate movement.
Maintenance and Upkeep: Disconnect the power supply before cleaning or maintenance. Regularly check the installation for wear or damage. Use only original parts for repairs. Refer to Section F for detailed maintenance.
Remote Controls: Do not swallow batteries; they can cause severe internal burns. Keep batteries out of reach of children. If the battery compartment is not secure, stop using the product. Seek medical advice if a battery is swallowed. Clean remotes with a soft cloth. Replace batteries with the same type. Remove batteries if the device is not used for a prolonged period. Do not expose batteries to excessive heat.
Potential Risks
- Risk 1: Shock and Crushing: Prevention: Obstacle detection by motor, use of photocells.
- Risk 2: Hand Crushing: Prevention: Maintain a 10 cm minimum distance between the gate leaf and the pillar/wall. Notch the corner of the pillar without weakening it.
- Risk 3: Imprisonment and Crushing: Prevention: Obstacle detection by motor. Maintain a 50 cm minimum distance between the motor arm and the wall.
- Risk 4: Crushing of the Feet: Prevention: Maintain a minimum distance of 12 cm or a maximum of 5 mm between the bottom of the leaves and the floor.
