Product Overview

This instruction sheet provides installation guidance for Nuvo Outdoor Speaker models. Available in 5 1/4-inch and 6 1/2-inch sizes, these speakers feature a modern design that complements any home. Optimized for outdoor use, they are IP65-rated and meet MIL-STD-810 standards for UV, salt spray, and temperature extremes, delivering clear, powerful audio.

Speaker Features

Figure 1 illustrates the speaker components. Key parts include the Back Cover, Knobs for securing the speaker, a Weatherproof Phoenix Connector Cover for protected connections, the Woofer, a mounting Bracket, the Phoenix Connector itself, and the Tweeter.

Installation Instructions

Perform steps 1-5 at each speaker location.

Step 1: Run Speaker Wires

Run two-conductor stranded speaker wires from your amplification device to the speaker location. For dual-voice coil speakers, run four-conductor stranded wires. It is recommended to use 16-gauge speaker wire.

Step 2: Mount the Bracket

Pull speaker wires through the center hole of the included speaker bracket. Attach the bracket to the mounting surface using appropriate hardware (not included). Mount the bracket vertically, horizontally, or angled as desired.

Step 3: Connect Speaker Wires

Feed the cable conductors through the weatherproof phoenix connector cover. Strip approximately 3/8 inch (1 cm) of the speaker wire jacket. Terminate the positive [+] and negative [-] conductors into the removable phoenix connector on the rear of the speaker.

For a pair of speakers, use adjacent positive [+] and negative [-] terminals on each speaker. To daisy-chain additional speakers, use adjacent terminals on the phoenix connector. Caution: Expanding beyond a single pair of speakers will affect impedance ratings. Ensure you understand your amplifier's impedance ratings and the implications of daisy-chaining.

For Dual-Voice Coil Stereo Speakers, use all four terminals (Left [+/-] and Right [+/-]) for stereo sound.

Step 4: Secure the Speaker

Insert the phoenix connector into the back of the speaker until seated. Remove the adhesive tape from the weatherproof phoenix connector cover and press the cover over the connector to secure it. Slide the speaker onto the mounted bracket and tighten the retaining knobs to fix the speaker in place.

Step 5: Apply Finishing Covers

Slide the included covers over the speaker bracket connection to protect it and provide a finished look.
