- Installation Guide
Installation Requirements
Proper installation is crucial for the effective operation of the dehumidifier. Ensure you have the following tools and materials:
- 3/8" hex drive
- Drill or duct cutting tool
- Wire stripper/cutter
- Scissors or utility knife
- Standard screwdriver
- T25 Torx screwdriver
- Duct tape
- 10" round duct and starter collar
- Thermostat wire (18-22 gauge, 5-band)
- 1/2" diameter drain line (8')
- 1/2" drain clamps (2)
- 3/4" male NPT to drain line adapter
Optional controls such as the Prestige IAQ Kit, VisionPRO Smart or RedLINK Thermostat, or HumidiPRO Digital Humidity Control can enhance functionality.
Installation Considerations
The dehumidifier is designed for indoor installation in a space protected from rain and flooding. Ensure adequate space for maintenance and service access to the front panel. Avoid directing discharge air at people or over water in pool areas. If installed near a pool or spa, ensure the unit cannot fall into the water and is connected to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) outlet.
For installations above living areas, a drain pan is required to prevent water damage in case of a clogged drain line. The unit should be installed on a stationary base or the floor, not above other HVAC components like an A-coil.
Plumbing and Electrical
Connect the drain line using a 3/4" male NPT fitting and a 1/2" drain tube. Ensure the drain line runs continuously downhill to an approved drain or condensate pump. A water trap in the drain line is essential to prevent air from entering or exiting the dehumidifier. The unit must be leveled for proper drain line function.
Electrical requirements include a 120 VAC outlet. A GFI outlet is recommended. Ensure the voltage supply is within the acceptable range (102-132 VAC) to prevent the dehumidifier from locking out.
Wiring and Control Options
Refer to the wiring diagrams provided in the manual for connecting the dehumidifier with various control options, including thermostats and humidity controllers. Proper wiring ensures correct operation for dehumidification and ventilation.
