Understanding Display Symbols
- Low Battery: The " " symbol indicates the batteries are low and need replacement.
- Wood Moisture Mode: The flashing " " symbol indicates the device is set to measure wood moisture. Suitable for lumber, paper, and cardboard.
- Building Material Mode: The flashing " " symbol indicates the device is set to measure building material moisture (mortar, concrete, plaster).
- Percentage (%): Indicates moisture units.
- Degrees Celsius (°C): Indicates temperature in Celsius.
- Degrees Fahrenheit (°F): Indicates temperature in Fahrenheit.
- Hold: The " " symbol indicates the current measured value is being held on the display.
Operation
Inserting Batteries
- Place the device display-down on a flat surface.
- Open the cover on the rear of the device.
- Insert 4 new LR44 batteries, observing the correct polarity. Do not mix batteries of different charge levels.
Turning On/Off
- To Turn On: Briefly press the control button.
- To Turn Off: The device will automatically turn off after approximately 15 seconds of inactivity.
Selecting Measurement Mode
- Press and hold the control button for approximately 3 seconds to enter mode selection.
- Briefly press the control button to cycle through the available modes: Wood Moisture (flashing " "), Building Material Moisture (flashing " "), Temperature in °C (flashing " "), Temperature in °F (flashing " ").
- Once the desired mode is selected, wait for approximately 3 seconds. The device will automatically exit the settings mode and be ready for measurement.
Taking Measurements
- Temperature Measurement: Insert both probes fully into the material. The temperature will be displayed directly. The device is not designed for measuring ambient air temperature.
- Moisture Measurement: Push the probes into the wood or material to be measured. The moisture content will be displayed automatically.
Moisture Level Indicators (LEDs)
- Wood Moisture Mode:
- < 6%: All LEDs off.
- ≥ 6% to < 16%: Green LED flashes.
- ≥ 16% to < 20%: Yellow LED flashes.
- ≥ 20%: Red LED flashes.
- Building Material Mode:
- < 0.2%: All LEDs off.
- ≥ 0.2% to < 0.7%: Green LED flashes.
- ≥ 0.7% to < 0.9%: Yellow LED flashes.
- ≥ 0.9%: Red LED flashes.
LED colors indicate the moisture level: no LEDs lit means very low moisture, red LED lit means high moisture.
Hold Function
Press the control button to hold the current reading; the " " symbol will appear. Press the control button again to deactivate the hold function, and the symbol will disappear.
Display Backlight
The display backlight activates when the device is turned on and turns off automatically after approximately 3 seconds.
