Assembling the Mount and Radio
Equipment Used
- QTY (1) Philips Screw driver
- QTY (1) Small adjustable Crescent Wrench
- QTY (1) Your Choice of Mobile Rugged Radio
- QTY (1) MT-RM BRONCO kit
Steps
Step 1
Loosely attach the radio brackets and the provided 4 bolts to the radio mount using the 4 provided locknuts and a socket wrench. [See Figure 1 & 2: Images show the metal brackets being attached to the radio mount using bolts and nuts.]
Step 2
Loosen and remove the screws installed on the side of the radio unit. [See Figure 3: A close-up of a hand using a tool to loosen screws on the side of a radio unit.]
Step 3
Place the radio in between the two brackets with the radio facing up and toward the angled edge of the bracket. Adjust the brackets as needed to gently hug the sides of the radio and tighten down to secure the brackets' positions. [See Figure 4: A radio unit being positioned between two mounting brackets.]
Step 4
Secure the radio by replacing the side radio screws back into the radio. Ensure the radio is attached to both brackets.
Vehicle Installation
Step 5
Slide the long bolts provided into the holes on the angled edge of the mount. The bolt head should be on the same side as the radio. Add the spacers provided to the bolt ends. [See Figure 5 & 6: Two images showing long bolts being inserted into the angled edge of the mount, followed by spacers being added to the bolt ends.]
Step 6
Locate the bolt holes on the side handle of the vehicle and remove the bolts that are installed in the vehicle. [See Figure 7: A view of the vehicle's center console grab handle, highlighting the locations where bolts are to be removed.]
Step 7
Install the bolts into the vehicle and tighten them down finger-tight before using a ratchet to make the bolts snug. The radio screen should face up and towards the seat. [See Figure 8: The completed installation showing the radio mounted securely in the vehicle, facing the seat.]
Performance Check
Test performance in an outdoor open area. Turn on the radio and intercom system, one device at a time, to check operation. Once all devices are functioning properly, re-check with the engine running. If any electronic noise is introduced while the engine is running, ensure all devices are not connected to 12V power. For questions, contact Rugged Radios.
