Operating Principles

The device uses digital electronic gyroscopes and accelerometers to control balance and movement based on the user's center of gravity. It also uses a control system to drive the motors located in the wheels. The device features an integrated dynamic inertia stabilization system that can assist with balance during forward and backward movement, but not during turns.

? TIP: To increase your stability, shift your weight to overcome centrifugal force in turns, especially when entering a curve at higher speeds.

⚠️ WARNING

Any EV2 Hoverboard that does not function correctly can lead to loss of control and falls. Thoroughly inspect the entire device before each ride and do not operate it until all problems are resolved.

CALIBRATE YOUR HOVERBOARD

Many problems that arise are due to misconfigurations on the gyroscope board. Most often, they have lost balance, and in this state, your hoverboard does not know if you are on a level surface, riding uphill/downhill, or if you are standing on it or not.

  • The hoverboard wobbles when you mount it or ride uphill. This happens more often when children use the hoverboard, as the gyroscopes have difficulty balancing you due to their low weight when not properly configured.
  • It may beep upon startup but not allow you to lift off.
  • You have the hoverboard in perfect balance, but it still wants to turn.
  • When you ride the hoverboard straight, it pulls left/right.

There are numerous other issues that can be resolved with a recalibration of your board, and we strongly recommend anyone experiencing a problem with their hoverboard to test calibration first before considering repair options such as replacing your motherboard or gyroscope boards.

Step-by-Step Guide to Calibrating Your Hoverboard in 10 Seconds.

  • Ensure your hoverboard is on a level surface and the two upper LED indicators are at the same height.
  • Press and hold the power button.
  • The front LED lights of your hoverboard will flash 5 times quickly before starting to blink at a longer interval.
  • Release the button and restart your hoverboard.

You have finished calibrating the gyro-boards, and your hoverboard is now perfectly leveled. It now knows which direction you are riding and what incline it is currently on. The best thing about a calibration problem is that it is easy to solve and you can do it anywhere.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

The first rule of safe riding is common sense. A scooter is vulnerable; it cannot protect you from an accident, impact, or loss of control, as a car can. It has no bumpers or airbags like a car. This section is a guide to safe riding practices for operating on roads and off-road.

Ensure you use your EV2 Hoverboard correctly.

Different locations and countries have different laws for riding on public roads, and you should check with local authorities to comply with these laws.

EV2 Hoverboard is not liable for tickets or violations issued to riders who do not comply with these regulations.

  • For your safety, always wear a helmet that meets safety standards. In case of an accident, a helmet can protect you from severe injuries and, in some cases, even death.
  • Follow all local traffic rules. Obey red and green traffic lights, one-way streets, stop signs, pedestrian crossings, etc.
  • Ride defensively; anticipate the unexpected.
  • Yield to pedestrians.
  • Do not ride too close to pedestrians and warn them if you intend to overtake them from behind.
  • Slow down at all intersections and look left and right before crossing.

WARNING

If you ride in poor visibility conditions such as fog, dusk, or night, you may be difficult to see, which can lead to a collision. When riding in low light conditions, not only turn on the headlight, but also wear bright, reflective clothing.

Think about safety when riding. You can avoid many accidents by thinking about safety. Below is a helpful checklist for compact riders.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

If a system error or improper operation occurs while riding your EV2 Hoverboard, the device will notify the user in various ways.

You will notice the operation indicator lights up RED and you hear a beep, alerting you to take precautions and stop operation, which may cause the hoverboard to stop suddenly.

The following are common occurrences where you will hear the safety warnings. These warnings should not be ignored, but appropriate measures should be taken to correct any illegal operations, malfunctions, or errors.

  • Unsafe riding surfaces (uneven, too steep, unsafe, etc.)
  • When mounting the device, if the platform is tilted more than 10 degrees forward or backward.
  • Battery voltage is too low.
  • The device is still charging.
  • During operation, the platform begins to tilt automatically due to excessive speed.
  • Overheating or motor temperature is too high.
  • The device has been rocking back and forth for over 30 seconds.
  • When the system switches to protection mode, the alarm indicator lights up and the board vibrates. This usually occurs when the battery is almost empty.
  • If the platform tilts more than 15 degrees forward or backward, the device will shut off and stop suddenly, potentially causing the rider to lose balance or fall.
  • If one or both tires are blocked, the device will stop after 2 seconds.
  • If the battery level has dropped below the protection mode, the device's motor will shut off and stop after 15 seconds.
  • The device's motor will shut off after 15 seconds while maintaining a high discharge current during use (e.g., when riding up a steep slope for an extended period).

WARNING

If the EV2 shuts off during a safety alarm, all operating systems will halt. Do not attempt to continue riding the EV2 if the system initiates a stop. Turn your hoverboard off and on again to unlock it from a safety lock.

SAFETY CHECKLIST

  • Do not ride beyond your abilities. Ensure you have adequately practiced all functions and features of your EV2 Hoverboard.
  • Do not ride too fast – increased speed increases risk. When moving at higher speeds, small unevenness can become large jolts, leading to an increased risk of injury in case of an accident.
  • Before stepping onto your hoverboard, ensure it is flat on a level surface, the device is powered on, and the operation indicator is green. Do not step on if the running indicator is red.
  • Do not operate the device in crowded areas. If you and your friends are riding together, maintain a safe distance from each other to avoid collisions, property damage, severe injuries, or even death.
  • Do not operate the device under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
  • Do not constantly turn, as this can cause dizziness and increase the risk of injury.
  • Do not ride in or near water puddles, mud, sand, stones, gravel, debris, or near uneven and rough terrain.
  • Do not ride in bad weather: snow, rain, hail, slippery, on icy roads, or in extreme heat.
  • Bend your knees when riding on bumpy or uneven sidewalks to absorb shocks and vibrations and maintain balance.
  • If you are unsure whether you can safely ride on a particular terrain, dismount and carry your device. ALWAYS BE ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION.
  • Do not ride your device near motor vehicles or on public roads.
  • Individuals with balance disorders should not attempt to operate the device.
  • Small children and the elderly should not operate the device without proper instruction and supervision.
  • Always consider longer braking distances at higher speeds.
  • No sharp turns, especially at high speeds.
  • Do not exceed the maximum or minimum weight limits.
  • This should not be used for racing, stunt riding, or other maneuvers that could lead to loss of control or uncontrolled actions or reactions by the rider/passenger.
