Baofeng UV-82 Step-by-Step Programming Guide

Set the radio to communicate with a repeater at 146.780– MHz, 100.0 Hz

  1. Turn on the radio and make sure it's unlocked
  2. If the radio is in channel mode, turn off the radio, then press and hold MENU while turning on the radio
  3. Select the upper display
    EXIT/AB
  4. Set the frequency
    1-4-6-7-8-0
  5. Set the repeater offset
    MENU - 26 - MENU - 000600 - MENU - EXIT/AB
  6. Set the repeater shift direction (SFT-D)
    MENU - 25 - MENU - (minus) - MENU - EXIT/AB
  7. Set the transmit tone frequency (T-CTCS)
    MENU - 13 - MENU - 1000 - MENU - EXIT/AB
  8. Set the transmit power level
    MENU 2 - MENU - HIGH - MENU - EXIT/AB
  9. Optional: turn off the TDR (I would, at first)
    MENU - 7 - MENU - OFF - MENU - EXIT/AB

Your radio is now set to transmit as specified

Store the current repeater and tone settings in a memory channel

  1. Follow the procedure above to set your radio for the frequency of your choice
  2. Clear target memory channel 37
    MENU - 28 - MENU - 37 - MENU - EXIT/AB
    Hear "delete channel"
  3. Store the frequency in channel 37
    MENU - 27 - MENU - 37 - MENU - EXIT/AB
    Hear "receiving memory"
    [press *]
    MENU - MENU - MENU - EXIT/AB
    Hear "transmitting memory"
    [press *]

Now stored in memory channel 37

Recall a stored memory setting

  1. Turn on the radio and make sure it's unlocked
  2. If the radio is in frequency mode, turn off the radio, then press and hold MENU while turning on the radio
  3. Press the up or down arrows or enter the three-digit channel number (all three digits)
    0 - 3 - 7

The stored channel is now ready for use

Set the radio to communicate at 147.480 MHz simplex

  1. Turn on the radio and make sure it's unlocked
  2. If the radio is in channel mode, turn off the radio, then press and hold MENU while turning on the radio
  3. Select the upper display
    EXIT/AB
  4. Set the frequency
    1-4-7-4-8-0
  5. Turn off the repeater shift direction (SFT-D)
    MENU - 25 - MENU - OFF - MENU - EXIT/AB
  6. Set the transmit power level
    MENU 2 - MENU - HIGH - MENU - EXIT/AB
  7. Optional: turn off the TDR (I would, at first)
    MENU - 7 - MENU - OFF - MENU - EXIT/AB
  8. Clear target memory channel 5
    MENU - 28 - MENU - 05 - MENU - EXIT/AB
    Hear "delete channel"
  9. Store the frequency in channel 5
    MENU - 27 - MENU - 05 - MENU - EXIT/AB
    Hear "receiving memory"
    [press *]
    MENU - MENU - MENU - EXIT/AB
    Hear "transmitting memory"
    [press *]
