RadioPRO 4 RP4.2-TY11 Radio Replacement & Steering Wheel Control Interface
For Toyota/Lexus/Scion Vehicles
Introduction & Features
The RP4.2-TY11 interface allows the replacement of a factory radio in select Toyota/Lexus/Scion vehicles and will retain factory features such as steering wheel controls (SWC) and the factory audio amplifier. This interface also allows you to program two radio functions to each SWC button by using short press long press dual command functionality and also provides outputs such as: vehicle speed signal (VSS), illumination, reverse trigger, and parking brake.
Important Notes
- Connection of the White/Red and White/Black wires is not necessary when installing a single DIN head unit. See note # 6 in "Installation Steps" on the next page for a full description of the functionality of these wires.
- Adjustment of the vehicle settings through the original radio's vehicle settings menu will be disabled after installation of your new radio. It is advised to make sure all settings are as you desire prior to removal of the original radio.
- Does not retain Rear Seat Entertainment.
- Speaker fading on factory amplified systems is only supported by the amplified output.
- When using real time fade, if you have the fader set more to the front or back, upon start up the sound may begin at the default setting and then quickly transition to your custom setting. Other head unit features such as High Pass Filters, DSP and Network Mode may cause inconsistent fader operation.
- The USB-TY1 or USB-TY2 must be purchased in order to retain the factory USB port. Please refer to www.pac-audio.com to see which harness you will need.
- The CAM-TY11 or CAM-TY12 must be purchased in order to retain the factory reverse camera. Please refer to www.pac-audio.com to see which harness you will need. If you do not have the harness required and need to retain the reverse camera, please refer to Appendix A on Page 8 for hard wiring options.

Testing & Verification
- Turn the ignition on. The interface LED and the +12v accessory wire should activate.
- Turn on the radio and check volume, balance, and fade. If no audio is heard, cycle the ignition to initialize the factory amplifier.
- If overall volume is too low, adjust the gain on the RP4.2 interface. Set the radio volume to 3/4, then increase the RP4.2 gain until slight distortion is heard, then reduce it slightly.
- For JBL systems with no audio, ensure the blue/white remote wire is connected properly. If audio is still absent, reset the interface.
- If fading is inconsistent, verify correct speaker polarity.
- Verify all SWC are functioning properly. If not, reset the interface or follow the re-calibration procedure.
- Verify the programmable 12v+ output is functioning as intended.
- The LED and radio will turn off when the ignition is turned off.
Restoring Factory Settings
To restore factory defaults, press and hold the programming button until the status LED blinks red. Release the button while it is blinking red. The LED sequence is green blink, amber blink, then red blink.
This reset restores the following settings:
- SWC Mapping
- Programmable 12v+ Output (Latched)
- Parking Brake Output Settings
- Factory Amplifier Settings
- Real Time Fade (resets to 'on')
RadioPRO App
The RadioPRO App allows for advanced configuration and updates:
- Configure User Interface Options:
- Programmable 12v Output behavior
- Aftermarket radio Parking Brake Sequencing
- Factory amplifier settings (Bass, Mid, Treble, Gain, Fader & Balance)
- Real Time Fading
- Firmware Updates: Update the interface with the latest firmware.
- Read Firmware/Hardware Versions: Check current software and hardware versions.
- Access Product User Manuals: View digital copies of the manual.
Note: The interface must be connected to the vehicle for Programmable 12v Output Behavior and Factory Amplifier Settings. Firmware updates and version checks can be done without vehicle connection.
Programmable 12v Output Wire
The red/white wire can be programmed for pulsed or latched 12v output, triggered by a user-assigned SWC button or vehicle events (foot brake, door, trunk). Available triggers depend on the vehicle's data bus.
- Trunk: 12v+ output when ignition is on and trunk is opened.
- Alpine: Works with parking brake output for menu access sequencing. Requires actual parking brake engagement. Alternatively, select "Foot Brake" for manual sequencing.
- Door: 12v+ output when any door is opened (if signal is available).
- Footbrake: 12v+ output when the foot brake is pressed (if signal is available).
- Latched: A latched 12v+ output activated by an assigned SWC. Remains on until the SWC is pressed again or ignition is turned off.
Pioneer Parking Brake
When enabled, this feature uses the parking brake output for necessary sequencing for settings menu access. This relies on the actual parking brake engagement. If disabled, manual parking brake sequencing is required.
Infotainment/Factory Amplifier Settings
Adjust factory amplifier settings including Amp Gain, Fader, Balance, Bass, Mid & Treble, and real-time fade. With real-time fade enabled, fading is controlled directly from the aftermarket radio. Restoring factory settings defaults all values to the middle position.
Firmware Updates
To update firmware: Set all dipswitches to the down position. Connect the interface to a PC. In the RadioPRO app, select "Update Firmware", then "Select File", and browse to the firmware file. After the update, disconnect from PC and set dipswitches according to the installed radio.
Appendix A: Reverse Camera Retention
If the CAM-TY11 or CAM-TY12 harness is not available, the factory reverse camera can be retained using the following schematics. Older vehicles (pre-2014) use a 16-pin harness (Fig. 1), while newer vehicles (2014+) use a 24-pin harness (Fig. 2). Some years may overlap.
