Intelligent Sensing
Intelligent Sensing is a set of software algorithms for advanced smoke detection, made possible by high-speed microcomputers. It includes:
- Drift Compensation and Smoothing: Algorithms compensate for long-term changes (e.g., dust accumulation) to maintain original detection ability and reduce false alarms. They also perform periodic sensitivity measurements and smooth transient noise signals.
- Maintenance Warnings: Alerts for detector performance issues: Low Chamber value (hardware problem), Maintenance Alert (dust near limit), and Maintenance Urgent (dust above limit). These allow for proactive maintenance.
- Sensitivity Adjust: Nine levels for alarm detection, manually settable or automatic day/night adjustment. Nine pre-alarm sensitivity levels can also be selected for special control functions.
- Self-Optimizing Pre-Alarm: Detectors learn their normal environment to set pre-alarm levels just above typical peaks, enabling sensitive pre-alarm capability with reduced false alarms.
- Cooperating Multi-Detector Sensing: Sensors can consider readings from up to two other nearby sensors for alarm decisions, increasing sensitivity to actual smoke by up to 2:1 without sacrificing false alarm resistance. This also supports combined ionization and photoelectric technology.
[Diagram: Illustrates analog sensor readings over time with and without compensation, maintenance warning levels, and sensitivity thresholds.]
Field Programming Options
Autoprogram: A timesaving routine that automatically identifies connected devices and loads default parameters, providing immediate fire protection in new installations. It presents devices to the installer for editing default options.
Keypad Program Edit: Allows full program creation and editing directly from the front panel keypad while the system remains operational. Each point has its own program with control-by-event links, enabling independent per-point segments.
VeriFire® Software: PC software for off-line programming and testing, reducing installation time and increasing confidence. It allows program creation, testing, backup, and site download. Includes error checks, simulation routines, and a compare function to highlight program differences, aiding in reacceptance testing.
