Quick Start Guide
- Step 1: Sit comfortably in a chair with a table.
- Step 2: Place and wrap the cuff over the bare upper arm correctly for an accurate reading.
- Step 3: Place the stethoscope head underneath the artery mark of the cuff.
- Step 4: With the valve closed, press the bulb and continue pumping to a value 30-40 mmHg above your normal blood pressure.
- Step 5: Open the valve to deflate the cuff gradually at a rate of 2-3 mmHg per second.
- Step 6: Record the onset of arterial sound heard through the stethoscope as the systolic pressure, and the disappearance of these sounds as diastolic pressure.
- Step 7: After measurement, open the valve and release any remaining air in the cuff.

Blood Pressure Information
What is Blood Pressure?
Blood Pressure is the measurement of the pressure of blood flowing against the walls of arteries. Arterial blood pressure changes during the cardiac cycle. The highest pressure is systolic blood pressure, and the lowest is diastolic blood pressure. Factors like physical activity, anxiety, and time of day can influence blood pressure. It is typically lower in the morning and higher from afternoon to evening, lower in summer and higher in winter.
What is normal blood pressure?
Blood pressure varies individually based on age, weight, physical condition, and gender. A classic normal reading for adults aged 18-45 is 120/80 mmHg. Only a physician can determine what readings are normal for you.
Basic Parts
The Dr Trust Aneroid BP Monitor includes the following parts:
- 1. Universal Size Cuff: Wraps around the arm, containing a bladder to hold air.
- 2. Manometer: Measures air pressure in mmHg.
- 3. Valve: Controls the deflation of the cuff.
- 4. Tube: Connects the bulb to the bladder for air transfer.
- 5. Latex Free Bulb: A rubber sphere used to pump air into the cuff.
- 6. Stethoscope: Used for listening to heartbeats or blood flow sounds during BP measurements.
- 7. Bladder: The inflatable bag inside the cuff that holds air.

How to Measure Blood Pressure
1. Relax and Adjust to a Proper Position
Ensure the person being measured is relaxed and sitting comfortably. The arm should be at heart level, extended but not tense. Rest the arm on a flat surface, palm facing upwards. Keep the arm still during measurement.
2. How to Put on the Cuff and Chest Piece
Place the cuff 2-3 cm above the bend of the elbow on the bare left upper arm. Close the cuff using the Velcro closure; it should be snug but not too tight, allowing one or two fingers to fit between the cuff and the arm. Never place the cuff over clothing. The stethoscope diaphragm, integrated into the cuff, must be placed above the brachial artery.

Blood Pressure Reading Procedure
3. Inflating the Cuff
Close the air valve on the bulb by turning the screw clockwise (do not over-tighten). Squeeze the inflation bulb with your hand at a steady rate until the needle on the gauge points 30 mmHg above your normal upper-systolic pressure value.
4. Systolic Blood Pressure Reading (Upper Value)
Slowly open the air valve by turning the screw counterclockwise. Hold the stethoscope chest piece over the brachial artery. A proper deflation rate of 2-3 mmHg per second is vital for accuracy. Note the reading on the gauge as soon as you hear a faint, rhythmic tapping or thumping sound. This is the systolic pressure.
5. Diastolic Blood Pressure Reading (Lower Value)
Allow the pressure to continue dropping at the same rate. When the thumping sound stops, that is your diastolic pressure. Deflate the cuff valve completely. Remove the cuff from the arm and the stethoscope from your ears.
6. Record Your Readings
Repeat the measurement two or more times. Record your readings and the time of day immediately after measuring. It is convenient to do this first thing in the morning or before evening meals. Remember, only your physician can analyze your blood pressure readings.
