These symbols warn that there are no user-serviceable parts inside the unit. Do not open the unit. Do not attempt to service the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Warranty
DigiTech is proud to offer a warranty on its products. The following terms apply:
- The warranty registration card must be mailed within ten days after purchase date to validate this warranty.
- DigiTech warrants this product, when used solely within the U.S., to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service.
- DigiTech liability under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing defective materials that show evidence of defect, provided the product is returned to DigiTech WITH RETURN AUTHORIZATION, where all parts and labor will be covered up to a period of one year. A Return Authorization number may be obtained from DigiTech by telephone. The company shall not be liable for any consequential damage as a result of the product's use in any circuit or assembly.
- Proof-of-purchase is considered to be the burden of the consumer.
- DigiTech reserves the right to make changes in design, or make additions to, or improvements upon this product without incurring any obligation to install the same on products previously manufactured.

Introduction
The BP200 offers flexibility and power to produce sonic creations. To become better acquainted with the BP200, it is recommended to read this User's Guide with the BP200 readily available.

Utmost care was taken during the manufacturing of the BP200. Everything should be included and in perfect working order. If anything is missing, contact the factory immediately. Completing the warranty card helps DigiTech understand your needs.
Front Panel
The front panel of the BP200 features controls for selecting and modifying effects, navigating presets, and managing the unit's functions.
Diagram Description: The front panel is dominated by a large display screen at the top, which shows preset names and parameter information. Below the display is the EFFECTS MATRIX, a grid indicating available effects and their parameters. To the left of the matrix are control buttons: SELECT, AMP TYPE, GAIN, and MASTER LEVEL. Below these are two large footswitches. To the right of the main unit is the expression pedal.
Control Descriptions:
- FOOT SWITCHES: Navigate through all 80 presets. Pressing both simultaneously bypasses the current preset. Pressing and holding both enters Tuner mode.
- AMP TYPE, GAIN, MASTER LEVEL Knobs: These knobs adjust effect parameters in Edit Mode and control Amp Type, Gain, and Master Level in Performance Mode. In Rhythm mode, they select Pattern, Tempo, and Rhythm Level.
- SELECT button: Enters and exits Edit Mode. Successive presses navigate through effect rows in the Matrix.
- RHYTHM button: Toggles the Rhythm Trainer function on and off.
- EFFECTS MATRIX: Lists all effect parameters available for editing. LEDs next to each effect indicate if it is active in the current preset and serve as a reference for the Tuner.
- DISPLAY: Shows information for all the BP200's functions.
- EXPRESSION PEDAL: Controls assigned parameters in real time.
- STORE button: Stores or copies presets to User preset locations.
Rear Panel
The rear panel provides connection points for instruments, external devices, and power.
Connection Jacks:
- INPUT: Connect your instrument here (1/4" TS).
- JAM-A-LONG: Connect the headphone output of a CD, tape, or MP3 player here (1/8" Stereo TRS) for practice.
- OUTPUT: Stereo output (TRS) for mono and stereo applications. Connect a mono instrument cable or a TRS stereo "Y" cord to an amplifier, mixer, or recording device.
- HEADPHONE: Connect stereo headphones here (1/8" Stereo TRS).
- POWER: Connect only the DigiTech PS0913B power supply here (9VAC 1.3A).
A CE mark is also present, indicating compliance with European standards.
Connecting the BP200
The BP200 can be connected in several ways. Ensure your amplifier is powered off before connecting the BP200, and that the BP200 is also powered off or unplugged.
Mono Operation
Diagram Description: A bass guitar is connected to the BP200's Input. The BP200's Output is connected via a single mono instrument cable to the amplifier's instrument input or a power amp's line input.
- Connect your bass to the BP200's Input.
- Connect a single mono instrument cable from the BP200's Output to the amplifier's instrument input, or a power amp's line input.
Stereo Operation
Diagram Description: A bass guitar is connected to the BP200's Input. The BP200's Stereo Output is connected via a TRS stereo "Y" cord. One end of the "Y" cord connects to the input of one amplifier, mixer channel, or power amp, and the second end connects to another amplifier, mixer channel, or power amp output.
- Connect your bass to the BP200's Input.
- Connect a TRS stereo "Y" cord to the BP200's Stereo Output.
- Connect one end of the "Y" cord to an amplifier, mixer channel, or power amp input.
- Connect the second end of the "Y" cord to another amplifier, mixer channel, or power amp output.
Note: When connecting to a mixing console, set the pan controls hard left and right, and utilize the BP200's Cabinet Modeling feature (see page 20 for details).
Modes and Functions
Performance Mode
The BP200 powers up in Performance Mode. In this mode, the buttons, knobs, and footswitches function as follows:
- SELECT Button: Enters Edit Mode. Successive presses move to the next row of effects in the Matrix. Pressing after the Expression LED lights returns to Performance Mode. Press and hold to exit Edit Mode.
- STORE Button: Enters Store Mode.
- AMP TYPE, GAIN, and MASTER LEVEL Knobs: Control the Amp Type, Gain, and Master Level of the current preset.
- FOOT SWITCHES: Navigate up and down through presets. Pressing both simultaneously accesses Bypass mode. Pressing and holding both accesses Tuner mode. The display shows the first three letters of the preset name followed by its number, then the full name.
- RHYTHM Button: Toggles the Rhythm Trainer on/off. When active, the AMP TYPE knob selects the pattern, GAIN knob sets the tempo, and MASTER LEVEL knob adjusts the level.
- EXPRESSION PEDAL: Controls the parameter assigned to it for the selected preset.
Edit Mode
The BP200 allows creation and modification of presets. To create a new preset:
- Select a User or Factory Preset.
- Press the SELECT button; the first effect row LED in the Matrix will flash.
- Modify parameters using the AMP TYPE, GAIN, and MASTER LEVEL knobs. The Store LED lights when changes are made, and an abbreviated parameter name and value are displayed. Press SELECT again to move to the next effect in the Matrix.
- Press the STORE button to save changes (see page 10 for details).
Store Mode
After modifying a preset, store your settings to one of the 40 User Preset locations. To store changes or a preset to a different location:
- Press the STORE button. The STORE LED blinks, and the first character of the name flashes.
- Use the AMP TYPE knob or footswitches to change the character. Use the GAIN knob to move left or right to the next character.
- Press the STORE button again. A three-letter abbreviation of the preset name and the preset number are displayed.
- Select a new preset location (1-40) using the UP/DOWN footswitches or the MASTER LEVEL knob. Presets 1-40 can be overwritten.
- Press the STORE button a final time to save changes. "STORED" followed by the current preset name is displayed.
Note: The SELECT and RHYTHM buttons abort Store Mode.
Bypass Mode
Bypass Mode provides a clean, unprocessed bass signal. To engage Bypass Mode:
- Press both footswitches simultaneously. "BYPASS" appears in the display.
- Press either footswitch to return to Performance Mode with all edits intact.
Note: SELECT, RHYTHM, STORE buttons, and AMP TYPE, GAIN, MASTER LEVEL knobs are disabled in Bypass Mode.
Tuner Mode
The BP200 includes a tuner for quickly tuning or checking your bass. To access Tuner Mode:
- Press and hold both footswitches until "TUNER" appears in the display.
- Play your bass. The note appears in the display. Matrix LEDs indicate sharpness (red LEDs above green CABINET-GATE LED) or flatness (red LEDs below green CABINET-GATE LED). When in tune, only the green CABINET-GATE LED is lit.
- Press the SELECT button to choose the tuning reference (e.g., A=440, A=Ab, A=G, A=Gb).
- Rotate the AMP TYPE, GAIN, and MASTER LEVEL knobs to change the tuning reference in semitone steps. This setting is maintained until changed or a factory reset is performed.
- Press either footswitch to exit Tuner Mode and return to the last mode used.
Note: STORE and RHYTHM buttons are disabled in Tuner mode. The EXPRESSION PEDAL acts as bypass volume.
Rhythm Trainer
The BP200 includes 31 sampled drum patterns to help develop timing. To use the Rhythm Trainer:
- Press the RHYTHM button.
- Rotate the AMP TYPE knob to select one of the 30 patterns.
- Rotate the GAIN knob to set the pattern tempo (40-240 BPM).
- Rotate the MASTER LEVEL knob to adjust the rhythm playback level (0-99).
- Press the RHYTHM button again to exit. Rhythm settings are maintained until the BP200 is powered off.
Note: Pressing SELECT returns to Edit Mode, STORE returns to Store Mode. Footswitches return to Performance Mode with the Rhythm Trainer still active.
Expression Pedal
Assigning a Parameter
The BP200 has a built-in Expression pedal for real-time control of effect parameters. To assign a parameter:
- Select a User or Factory Preset.
- Press SELECT until the Matrix's last effect row LED flashes.
- Rotate the AMP TYPE knob to select the parameter the pedal will control.
- Rotate the GAIN knob to set the minimum value the expression pedal reaches (toe up).
- Rotate the MASTER LEVEL knob to set the maximum value (toe down).
- Press the STORE button to save changes (see page 10).

Expression Pedal Calibration
Calibrating the expression pedal ensures proper function. To calibrate:
- Power up the unit while pressing the UP footswitch until "TOE dn" is displayed.
- Rock the Expression pedal forward (toe down).
- Press a footswitch until "TOE up" is displayed.
- Rock the Expression pedal forward (toe up).
- Press a footswitch to complete calibration.
Note: If "ERROR" is displayed, repeat the calibration steps. This procedure does not erase user presets.
Factory Reset
This function resets the BP200 to its original factory settings, erasing all custom user presets and recalibrating the Expression Pedal. To perform a factory reset:
Attention: ALL user-defined presets will be lost if this function is performed!
- Disconnect the power supply from the BP200.
- Press and hold the SELECT button while connecting the power supply.
- When "rst ?" displays, release the button and press the STORE button. "RESET" displays, and the BP200 is reset.
After a factory reset, recalibrate the Expression Pedal by following steps 2-5 of the calibration procedure.
Effects and Parameters
Signal Path
The BP200's effect modules are linked in the following signal path:
Fretless/Wah → Compressor → Whammy → Bass Amp/Stompbox Modeling → EQ → Cabinet Modeling → Noise Gate → Volume Pedal - Pre → Effects → Delay → Reverb → Volume Pedal - Post
Fretless / Wah
This effect simulates a fretless bass sound or provides a wah effect controlled by the Expression pedal.
- Type: Rotate AMP TYPE knob to select: OFF, Fretless 1-3, Cry Wah, Boutique Wah, Full Range Wah.
- Fret Amount: Rotate GAIN knob to change the character of the fretless simulator.
- Fret Attack: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob to set the attack time of the fretless simulator.
Note: Fret Amount and Fret Attack do not function when a Wah is selected.
Compressor
A Compressor increases sustain and prevents signal clipping. The threshold is fixed.
- Amount: Rotate AMP TYPE knob for compression amount (OFF, 1-99).
- Comp Gain: Rotate GAIN knob for compression level (1-6).
- Crossover: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob to adjust the compressor crossover frequency (50Hz to Full Range).
Amp/Stompbox Models
Selects the amplifier or stompbox model for the preset. Choices include:
- Rock Amp (ROCK) - Based on Ampeg SVT
- Ash Down (ASHDWN) - Based on Ashdown ABM-C410H
- Bass Man (BASMAN) - Based on Fender Bassman
- Solar 200 (SOLAR) - Based on Sunn 200S
- Stellar (STELLA) - Based on SWR Interstellar Overdrive
- British (BRITSH) - Based on Trace-Elliot Commando
- Bomber (BOMBER) - Based on Ampeg B-15
- Hi Wattage (HIWATG) - Based on Hiwatt 50
- Bogey Man (BOOGMN) - Based on Mesa/Boogie Bass 400+
- Basic (BASIC) - Based on SWR Basic Black
- Dual Show (DUALSH) - Based on Fender Dual Showman

- Type: Rotate AMP TYPE knob to select the model.
- Gain: Rotate GAIN knob for gain amount (1-99).
- Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for preset level (0-99).
EQ
The 3-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble) shapes the tonal response. Frequency centers may vary by model.
- Bass: Rotate AMP TYPE knob for boost/cut (+/-12dB).
- Midrange: Rotate GAIN knob for boost/cut (+/-12dB).
- Treble: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for boost/cut (+/-12dB).
Cabinet - Gate
Cabinet Modeling simulates miked speaker cabinets (6 types). The Silencer Noise Gate eliminates noise, and the Auto Swell gate offers 9 attack settings.
Cabinet Choices:
- 1x15 – Based on Ampeg Portaflex 1x15 cabinet
- 1x18 - Based on Acoustic 360 1x18 cabinet
- 2x15 - Based on Sunn 200S 2x15 cabinet
- 4x10 - Based on Fender Bassman 4x10 cabinet
- 4x10 H - Based on Eden 4x10 w/horn cabinet
- 8x10 - Based on Ampeg SVT 8x10 cabinet

- Cabinet: Rotate AMP TYPE knob to select cabinet type.
- Gate Type: Rotate GAIN knob to select gate type (Off, Silncr, or Swel 1-9).
- Gate Thresh: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob to set noise gate threshold (1-40).
Effects
The Effects row offers Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Vibrato, Octavider, SynthTalkTM, Envelope Filter, Pitch Shift, Detune, and WhammyTM. Only one effect from this row can be used at a time.
- Type: Selects the type of effect.
- Amount: Controls various aspects of the effect.
- Level: Controls Level, Depth, or Mix depending on the effect type.
Chorus
Adds a short, modulated delay to create a thicker sound.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob for speed and depth (1-99).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for chorus level (1-99).
Flanger
Uses a short delay with regeneration for an exaggerated sweeping motion.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob for speed and depth (1-99).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for flanger level (1-99).
Phaser
Splits the signal, changing phasing for a warm, twisting sound.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob for speed and depth (1-99).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for phaser level (1-99).
Envelope Filter
A dynamic wah effect that alters sound based on playing intensity.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob for input signal sensitivity (1-99).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for effect mix (0-99).
Vibrato
Modulates the pitch of the incoming signal at an even rate.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob for modulation speed (1-99).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for modulation depth (0-99).
Octavider
Creates a smooth tracking unison note one octave below the played note.
- Amount: No function when Octavider is used.
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for effect level (0-99).
SynthTalkTM
Exclusive to DigiTech, makes the bass "speak" based on playing attack.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob to select one of ten synth voices (Vox 1-Vox 10).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for input signal sensitivity (0-99).
Pitch Shift
Copies the signal, shifts the pitch, and mixes it back, creating an illusion of multiple basses.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob to select pitch interval (+/-12 semitones).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for mix level (0-99).
Detune
Creates a copy of the signal slightly out of tune, giving an illusion of two guitars playing together.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob for detune amount (+/-24 cents).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for detuned note mix (0-99).
WhammyTM
Uses the Expression Pedal to bend pitch or add a bendable harmony. The note bends up or down as the pedal moves.
- Amount: Rotate GAIN knob to select pitch bend type. Options include: 1 OCT UP, 2 OCT UP, 2ND DWN, REV 2ND, 4TH DWN, 1 OCT DN, 2 OCT DN, DIV BOM (Dive Bomb), M3>MA3 (minor third to major third), 2NDMA3 (second above to major third), 3RD4TH (third above to fourth), 4TH5TH (fourth above to fifth), 5THOCT (fifth above to octave), HOCTUP (one octave above), HOCTDN (one octave down).
- Effect Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for Whammy volume (0-99).
Delay
Records a portion of the incoming signal and plays it back, with optional repeats.
- Type/Level: Rotate AMP TYPE knob to select Mono 1-9, Analog 1-9, Ping Pong 1-9, or Spread 1-9.
- Delay Time: Rotate GAIN knob to select delay time (10ms - 990ms, 1sec - 2sec).
- Delay Feedback: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for feedback/repeats (0-99, RHold).
Reverb
Adds a sense of space (room or hall) to the sound.
- Reverb Type: Rotate AMP TYPE knob to select one of 10 reverb effects or Off. Options include: REV OF, STUDIO, ROOM, CLUB, PLATE, HALL, AMPTHE, CHURCH, GARAGE, ARENA, SPRING.
- Decay: Rotate GAIN knob for reverb decay time (1-99).
- Reverb Level: Rotate MASTER LEVEL knob for reverb level (0-99).
