Device Overview
A - Power Button / Switch Lights: Press and hold 1 second to turn on/off the device. Single press to change light modes. (Note: Device status is indicated by the LED flashing or not).
B - Power Indicator LED: Changes colors based on remaining battery level and charging status.
C - Link Indicator LED: Changes color when paired with the Gardia app and compatible bike computers.

Reboot the Device
Press and hold for 12 seconds to reset the Gardia device. Note: The Gardia R300L will cycle through different statuses during this process; ensure you hold for the full 12 seconds until the device resets.
Light Operation
Manual Mode with Smart Control
Manual Mode
Single press the top button to switch different light modes:
- High Solid
- Low Solid
- Group Ride
- Night Flash
- Day Flash
- Light OFF (Radar Detection Only)
Smart Control
Warning Light: Two warning light patterns. When a vehicle is detected by the Gardia radar, the light switches to a suitable warning light based on threat level to alert the cyclist and approaching vehicles.
Brake Light: Illuminates for 2.5 seconds when deceleration is detected, notifying approaching vehicles/cyclists.
Low Battery Light: When battery drops below 15%, the light dims and enters power-saving mode to extend battery life.
Sleep Mode
The Gardia R300L enters Sleep Mode after 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. The current light mode is saved. Upon detecting motion, it reactivates to the previous light mode.
Device Information
Charging the Device
The built-in lithium-ion battery can be charged using a standard wall outlet or via USB cable with your PC.
- Remove the rubber cover from the USB port.
- Plug the USB type C cable into the USB port on the Gardia R300L.
- Plug the cable into a standard USB AC adapter or into your PC's USB port.
- If using a standard USB AC adapter, plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
- Allow the device sufficient time to fully charge. The LED light will flash green while charging and become solid green when charging is complete.
- Remove the USB cable and close the rubber cover back on the USB port.
Note:
- To prevent water damage and corrosion, ensure the USB port, rubber cover, and device are fully dry before charging or connecting to your PC.
- The device will not charge when exposed to temperatures outside the range of -22 to 55°C (-4 to 131°F).
Installing the Device
How To Install
- Step 1: Locate a secure mounting position.
- Step 2: Fasten the rubber mount with the letter "b" facing upwards.
- Step 3: Rotate the device to securely lock into place.
- Step 4: Ensure the device is securely fastened.
Device Installation Notice
- Mount the Gardia R300L securely to avoid interfering with safe bike operation.
- For maximum light visibility and radar detection, mount as high as possible on the seat post. (Note: Mounts fit most seat post angles, including 27.2 mm, 30.9 mm, 31.6 mm, D cross section, and aero cross-section seat posts. The mount surface should be vertical in any configuration).
- The device should face the rear of the cyclist and be perpendicular to the road.
- Ensure nothing obstructs the front of the light.
- Test your configuration during daylight and in a safe environment.
The Gardia R300L and the Bryton Gardia App
Download the Bryton Gardia app from the App Store or Google Play. Connect your Gardia R300L with the Gardia app on your phone to adjust light modes, view radar notifications, and update firmware.
- A - Select to change device settings
- B - Select to change light modes

Pairing the Gardia Device With Your Phone
- Before pairing, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and the Gardia R300L is powered on.
- Open the Bryton Gardia app and drag down the page to connect.
- Once the Gardia R300L is detected, select the device from the list and confirm pairing.
- Upon successful pairing, the indicator LED will flash blue.
Updating the Device Firmware via the App
- Once paired, the Gardia R300L's device status and details are displayed on the app.
- If a new firmware version is available, an update message will display automatically. Select "Update" from the pop-up or "NEW" from the status menu to start the update.
- The update will take a few minutes to download.
- Once complete, press "Done".
Viewing the Gardia on the App
- Before your ride, press "Start Riding" on the Gardia app.
- The radar's status and information will appear on the screen.
- The vehicle's position (A) moves up the screen as a vehicle approaches. The threat level's color (B) changes: Green signifies no threat, Yellow indicates an approaching vehicle, and Red indicates a vehicle approaching at high speed.
Customizing the Gardia App Settings
Customizing Alert Settings
Ensure the app is paired with your Gardia device. In the Alerts setting, you can enable sound and vibration alerts for notifications, even when your phone is in your pocket.
- On the home page of the Gardia app, select `>` .
- Toggle to enable "Sounds & Threat Cleared Tone & Vibration".
Enable Brake Light
The Gardia radar tail light can notify vehicles behind you with a brake light when you hit the brake, lowering the possibility of collisions during slowing down or emergency braking.
- From the home page of the Gardia app, select `⚙️` .
- Enable the brake light `?` status.
The Gardia R300L and Compatible Bryton Rider Series
The Gardia R300L can be controlled remotely and have settings modified using a compatible Bryton Rider-series bike computer. This section provides instructions for usage with Rider S800 devices; other compatible Rider-series devices have similar settings.
Pairing the Gardia Device With Your Rider Series
After initial pairing, the Gardia R300L automatically connects with your Bryton Rider-series bike computer when powered on and within range.
- 1. Ensure the Bryton Rider device is within 3m of your Gardia R300L. (Note: To avoid interference, maintain 10m from other ANT+ sensors during pairing).
- 2. Turn on the Rider-series device.
- 3. Select Settings > My Sensors > + > Radar or Light.
- 4. Select the detected Gardia device.
- 5. If successfully paired, the status and information for both the radar and light will be displayed. (Note: Compatible Rider devices include Rider RS500, RS800, 750, 420).
Viewing the Gardia on the Rider Series
- Go for a ride.
- The Gardia radar's status and information (A) will be displayed on the data screen.
- The vehicle's position (A) moves up the screen as it approaches. The color indicator (B) changes based on threat level: Green (no threat), Yellow (approaching), Red (approaching at high speed). (Note: Gardia R300L can also pair with other ANT+ Radar compatible cycling computers).
Customizing the Rider Series Settings
Customizing Alert Settings
If alert tones are enabled in Gardia R300L settings, the Rider-series device uses audio alerts for status changes. Approaching cars trigger one beep, and the threat clearing triggers another.
- Ensure the Bryton Rider-series device is connected to the Gardia R300L.
- Select Sensor Details > Alert Settings.
- Toggle the button to enable "Sound".
- Toggle the button to enable "Threat Cleared Tone".
Remove Radar
- From the My Sensors menu, select the paired Gardia device.
- Select "Remove" to remove the paired radar.
Customizing the Tail Light Settings
Control Light Patterns
Light modes can be controlled remotely via your Bryton Rider-series device after connecting with the Gardia R300L.
- From the My Sensors menu, select Light, and choose a paired light.
- Select Sensor Details.
- Under the Light Patterns section, open the drop-down menu to select a light mode.
Enable Auto Switch
The Gardia R300L utilizes the Rider-series device's sunrise and sunset times to adjust its light mode.
- From the My Sensors menu, select Light, and choose a paired Gardia device.
- Select Sensor Details.
- Toggle the button to enable "Auto Switch".
Enable Brake Light
Utilizing a built-in G-sensor, the Bryton Gardia R300L radar tail light notifies vehicles behind you with a brake light when you hit the brake.
- From the My Sensors menu, select Light, and choose a paired Gardia device.
- Select Sensor Details.
- Toggle the button to enable "Brake Light".
Remove Light
- From the My Sensors menu, select Light, and choose a paired Gardia device.
- Select "Remove" to remove the paired radar or select `?️` to delete the paired Gardia device.

Basic Care For Your Gardia R300L
Taking good care of your device will reduce the risk of damage to your device.
Device Care
- Do not drop your device or subject it to severe shock.
- Do not expose your device to extreme temperatures and excessive moisture.
- Do not use power and/or data cables that have not been supplied by or received prior official approval from Bryton.
- Do not put your device in contact with chemical cleaners, solvents, sunscreen, insect repellents or other dry or liquid chemicals that can damage components and finishes.
- Ensure the USB rubber cover is tightly closed to prevent water exposure and damage to the USB port.
Cleaning the Device
- The lens surface can easily be scratched. Do not use a cloth or any material that can scratch the optical lens on the front of the device. Scratching the optical lens may cause poor radar performance.
- Remove dirt and debris from the USB rubber cover and surrounding area.
- While the USB rubber cover is closed, briefly run water over the device to remove dust. After cleaning, allow the device to dry completely before opening the cover.
- Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or make any modification to your device. Any attempt to do so will make the warranty invalid.

This device meets the EU requirements and the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) on the limitation of exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields by way of health protection.
