Setup and Operation Guide
Read Before Use
Thank you for purchasing this Denon product. This manual explains the Setup Wizard that you will need to perform directly after removing the product from its packaging, before you start using the product. The Setup Wizard displays easy-to-follow guidance on your television screen, showing you how to connect and configure speakers, various other devices, and network functions for full enjoyment of this unit.

Cautions on Handling
- Before turning the power on: Ensure all connections are correct and there are no issues with cables.
- Power standby: Some circuitry is powered even in standby mode. Unplug the power cord when leaving the unit unused for extended periods.
- Condensation: If there's a significant temperature difference, condensation may form, affecting operation. Allow the unit to acclimate for 1-2 hours after turning it off.
- Mobile phones: Using a mobile phone near the unit may cause noise. Move the phone away if this occurs.
- Moving the unit: Turn off power, unplug the cord, and disconnect all system unit cables before moving.
- Care: Wipe with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, benzene, paint thinner, or insecticides, as they can cause damage or discoloration.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover (or back). No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

CAUTION: To completely disconnect this product from the mains, disconnect the plug from the wall socket outlet. The mains plug is used to completely interrupt the power supply to the unit and must be within easy access by the user.
Preparing the Setup Wizard
This section describes how to prepare the Setup Wizard before use.
- Do not plug the power plug of the main unit into the wall socket until these preparations are complete.
- Speaker connections are performed using the Setup Wizard. Do not connect the speakers yet.
What You Need for This Step
- Speaker (sold separately)
- Speaker cable (sold separately) - Prepare enough for the number of speakers you will use.
- Subwoofer (with built-in amplifier) (sold separately)
- Audio cable (sold separately)
- TV (sold separately)
- HDMI cable (sold separately) - Required for the Setup Wizard to display.
- Remote control unit / R6/AA batteries (supplied)
- Setup microphone (DM-A409) (supplied)
- AM loop antenna (supplied)
- FM indoor antenna (supplied)
1. Place and Layout Speakers
Before installing the speakers, connect the speaker cables to the speakers. For details, see the speaker instruction manual.
Connect the speaker cables to the main unit using the Setup Wizard.
When 5.1-channel installed:
- Install the surround speakers in a position 60 to 90 cm higher than ear level.
- Speaker placement: Front speakers (FL, FR), Center speaker (C), Surround speakers (SL, SR), Subwoofer (SW).
- Angles: Front speakers at 22°-30°, Surround speakers at 120°.
- Ensure adequate heat dispersion when installed in an enclosure. Do not place other equipment on the unit.
2. Connect This Unit to the Television
Use an HDMI cable (sold separately). If connected using other cables, the Setup Wizard will not be displayed.
3. Turn on the Television and Select Input
Turn the television power on and switch the video input to the HDMI input for this unit.
4. Insert Batteries into Remote Control
Slide the rear lid, insert batteries as indicated by the marks (+/-), and replace the cover.
Setup Wizard
When preparations are complete, start the Setup Wizard. Use it to perform connections and settings as shown on the screen. You can skip or cancel at each section if necessary.
Language Select
Set the language for the instructions on the television screen. If your language is not available, select "English". These settings can be changed later via the menu.
Speaker Connection
Connect the speakers for surround sound. Note: Connections for speakers other than 5.1 channel speakers cannot be set using the Setup Wizard. If you have a different configuration, select "Others" and then "Skip" to proceed to "Speaker Calibration".
Speaker Calibration
Configure the settings for your speakers and for the optimum surround sound for your room. This typically involves using the setup microphone to measure speaker output and room acoustics.
Source Setup
Set the connecting terminals for each device to be set and connect them. This assigns input sources like BD, DVD, TV, etc.
Remote Setup
Configure the settings so that devices connected to this unit can be operated using the provided remote control.
This completes the Setup Wizard.
Basic Operation
This section explains how to perform simple operations.
Selecting the Input Source
You can select the input source using the "Source Select" menu on the TV screen or directly using the buttons on the main unit or remote control (e.g., SOURCE ▲/▼).
When using an iPod connected directly to the USB port, select "USB/iPod" for the input source.
Adjusting the Master Volume
Use the [Volume Up Button] and [Volume Down Button] on the remote control or the unit to adjust the volume. The adjustable range may differ based on settings.
Turning Off the Sound Temporarily
Press the [Mute Button] on the remote control. The power indicator may flash, and a "MUTE" indicator will appear on the display or TV screen. Pressing the button again or adjusting the volume cancels mute.
