I m portant I nstructions for Use
· Use only t h e cha r ger pr ovided. Use of another charger could result in irreparable dam age t o Quicklook Zoom and will void the warranty.
· Quicklook Zoom should be st ored in t he " off" position when not in use.
· Do not use Quicklook Zoom in a bathroom, near water or other damp condit ions.
· Do not open Quicklook - t here are no user serviceable parts inside and opening it will invalidate your warranty.
· At t he end of it s life, Quicklook should be disposed of responsibly in accordance wit h local ordinances. Never dispose of the unit by fire.
· I f the display is cracked, liquid crystal may leak. Do not allow the liquid into your eyes or m outh and wash your hands wit h soapy wat er.

Congrat ulat ions on t he pur chase of your new Quicklook Zoom m agnifier. Quicklook has been designed for sim ple and intuitive use and will aid people with low vision to read and write. However you should consult wit h your eye care professional to determ ine the suitability of this product in your particular case. We recom m end that you read t his m anual carefully to obtain t he best service from your new product .

charge it for three hours or until the red charge indicat or is extinguished. Plug t he power supply int o a wall socket and insert t he connect or int o Quicklook as shown in the diagram .

The red light beside t he power connect or should illum inate indicating that the bat tery is being charged. The light will go off when the bat tery is subst ant ially charged. I t takes about three hours to charge the batt ery from a discharged st ate. Additional charging will not cause any dam age to the unit. Quicklook Zoom can be used while the batt ery is being charged.

Operation
The Quicklook Zoom is powered on by rotat ing the cam era to either of it s operat ing positions. I t is powered off by rotat ing t he cam era back t o the closed position.
Reading Rot at e t he cam era ninety degrees to its first click position so that the cam era is looking downwards. Place t he unit on or slightly above the it em you wish to read. You will have to posit ion the cam era direct ly over t he area of interest . I n this respect Quicklook Zoom differs from a m agnifying glass in that the im age you see does not correspond t o the area directly beneath.
Quicklook Zoom can be viewed from any orientat ion, but to obtain t he m ost accurat e colour reproduct ion you should ideally look direct ly down on the screen.

When using Quicklook Zoom on different material, experiment with the different m odes to see which helps you to see best . Not e that all original colour is rem oved from the im age in t he enhanced m odes.

The colour opt ions used in t he sem i- colour m odes can be select ed. Refer t o t he " Reading Mode Menu" lat er in t his m anual.

Freezing the im age To freeze t he im age, sim ply press and hold the Freeze button on t he side of the unit for about a second (refer to t he diagram on page 5) . Pr essing t his but t on again w ill ret urn t o t he live im age. This funct ion can be useful, for instance, when you wish t o note a phone number and bring it to the phone for dialling.
Zoom ing To enlarge t he im age, press t he Zoom - up but ton; to reduce it , press t he Zoom -down button.
By default the upper m agnificat ion stops at 9X, but holding the Zoom - up but ton for 3 seconds will tem porarily unlock the two upper m agnificat ion levels. These levels will remain available until the unit is powered off.
I f you find you regularly require the higher m agnificat ion levels, you can perm anent ly unlock t hem through t he advanced m enu described later in t his m anual.

W riting When you wish t o writ e wit h t he Quicklook Zoom , rotat e the cam era out fully to it s second click position. While looking at the display, find t he place on t he page where you wish to writ e and place your pen in the picture. As you are writ ing you should see what you are doing on t he Quicklook's d isp lay .
At the start, you m ay find that your handwriting varies in size from what you int ended. You should spend som e t im e pract icing on a sheet of lined paper to fam iliarize yourself wit h writ ing using Qu ick look .

Adjusting the backlight
The backlight bright ness can be adj ust ed t o suit the lighting condit ions you are working in. Repeat ed quick click s of t he Br igh t n e ss button will step through the available set t ings. When you have a level that suits sim ply stop clicking the brightness but ton. This set t ing w ill be rem em bered and used in fut u r e.
Turning off the cam era lights
I f you wish to look at a backlit display ( on a m obile phone or com put er display for instance), t he cam era light s can reduce the im age qualit y. You can t urn t he cam er a light s off by powering on t he Quicklook while holding in t he Bright ness but t on. To turn t he light s back on, sim ply turn t he Quicklook off and back on again.
Battery Level
At start- up, t he batt ery level is displayed in the corner of the screen for 10 seconds. You can choose t o display it const ant ly from t he Advanced Menu ( see below) . The

batt ery icon changes colour depending on the rem aining capacity and will display in blue if t he unit is being recharged.
Using the Menu
The Quicklook Zoom has a m enu syst em t o allow you to custom ize it to suit your requirem ents.
To bring up t he m enu, pr e ss a nd hold t he Mode button for three seconds until an icon appears on t he screen. The cont ent s of the m enu will change depending on the m ode you are in. The Colour Mode Menu contains t hese options:

Use Zoom - up and Zoom - down t o navigat e t hrough t he m enu choices and press Mode to accept the choice.
Press Freeze t o cancel a choice and ex it t he m enu.
The Adva n ce d m e nu cont ains opt ions t hat are used only occasionally. Hold t he Mode button in for 6 seconds to bring up this m enu ( ignore the icon that appears aft er 3 seconds ­ it will be replaced with t he Advanced m enu) .
The Advanced Menu cont ains t hese opt ions. Please not e t hat som e of t he icons will hav e a tick m ark or an X t hrough them . I f there is a tick is over the icon, select ing it will enable that option; an X will disable the option.

The Reading Mode Menu: Colou r se le ct ion ­ Her e you can change the sem i-colours used in the reading m odes. The icon on t he right will appear while select ing t he colours. Press t he Zoom - up but t on t o change the ink colour and the Zoom -down button to change the paper colour . Press Mode t o accept your choice. Mode- button set- up: You can cust om ise t he Mode but ton so that only t he reading m odes you use are available. I f you only require the black and white reading m odes select t he first icon; choosing the last icon will allow only the sem i-colours; the centre icon will allow bot h black and whit e and sem i- colour options to be available.

The Advanced Settings Menu: Ba t t e r y displa y ­ You can display t he level of power remaining in the battery in the upper left of t he screen.
Soun ds ­Use t his opt ion t o t urn the sounds on or off.
Aut o- off ­This opt ion w ill t urn the unit off aut om at ically after 5 minutes if a button has not been pressed dur ing t hat t im e. Please read the note on the next page. High m agnification ­ this enables the two highest levels of m agnificat ion ( 13X and 18X)
The I nfo screen will display t he revision of t he software within the unit.
Factory Defaults ­ will return the unit to its original factory set t ings.

Note about Auto- off and persistence By default t he Auto- off is enabled, i.e. t he unit will t urn it self off after 5 m inut es of non- use. I f you disable this funct ion, you could run the risk that a stat ionary im age m ay persist on the display if a unit is left for a considerable tim e looking at the sam e im age. This persist ence will clear event ually but placing t he unit on a clean whit e sheet of paper and leaving the unit swit ched on can help in severe cases.
Reset I f Quicklook st ops responding t o but t on presses it m ay need to be reset. Using a pen or sim ilar instrum ent, press t he reset button recessed into the underside of the unit near the cam era.
Fitting the w rist strap Quicklook Zoom is supplied wit h an opt ional wrist st rap. To fit t his, pass t he t hin loop of the strap through the hoop on the top of the unit . Pass t he ent ire st rap t hrough t he t hin loop and pull tight.

M a in t e n a n ce
Dirt and finger m arks on t he screen should be cleaned wit h the lens cleaning clot h provided. I f Quicklook becom es dirt y it can be cleaned wit h a dam p cloth and m ild det ergent. Never use any type of solvent or abrasive cleaning agent s. Do not im m erse Quicklook in water!

W arranty
The Quicklook Zoom has been fully t est ed prior t o shipping and should provide reliable service. Ash Technologies warrant s t he equipm ent, when purchased new, to be free from defects in m aterial and workm anship and will repair or replace at Ash Technologies' discret ion, any equipm ent which exhibit s such defects, provided that the equipm ent has been operated under the proper condit ions of installat ion.
This warrant y does not cover: ( a) dam age from m isuse, use outside the norm al or custom ary m anner, accident or neglect; ( b) dam age caused by spills of food or drinks; ( c) dam age caused by tam pering, m odificat ion or repairs attem pted by persons not aut horized by Ash Technologies.
The bat t ery is warrant ed for a period of one year. Cracks, scratches or sim ilar dam age to the display are specifically excluded from warranty.
I n no event shall Ash Technologies, or it s agent s, be liable for special, indirect, incidental or consequential dam ages; the original user's rem edies being lim ited to repair or replacem ent.
Ash Technologies m akes no ot her or furt her warrant y, express or im plied, including and warranty of fitness for a specific purpose or warranty of m erchantability.
This warrant y is valid for a period of TW O YEARS effect ive from the date of delivery.
