BAX® Prep Xpress

Welcome to the BAX® Prep Xpress

Now that your Prep Xpress has arrived, you are only a few short steps away from easily automating your workflows.

First, decide on a space in your lab to put the Prep Xpress. As you decide, ensure your space fits the following specifications:

  • The space must have a level surface with enough room to easily access all parts of the Prep Xpress.
  • The area should be consistently well-lit, without shadows from windows (or other instruments) that would affect labware recognition.
  • The surface must be stable and able to support the Prep Xpress' weight (~85 lbs). Shaking and vibrations can negatively affect your results, especially for low-volume applications.
  • The space must have access to a power supply that accepts input between 100 VAC to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 hz.

Once you decide on a space, you can unbox and begin installing the Prep Xpress by following the instructions in this booklet.

Section 1: Unboxing

  1. Step 1: Check ShockWatches and TiltWatch

Double-check both of the ShockWatches and TiltWatch on the outside of the accessory box (box 2 of 2). If either Shockwatch has a red tab, or if the balls in either TiltWatch sit at 40° or higher, contact Hygiena® support.

Diagrams show two acceptable ShockWatch 2 indicators (green checkmark ✔️) and two unacceptable indicators (red X ❌). Diagrams show one acceptable TiltWatch Plus indicator (green checkmark ✔️, balls below 40°) and one unacceptable indicator (red X ❌, balls at 40° or higher).

  2. Step 2: Remove Top Foam and Store Packing Material

Remove the foam piece on top of the Prep Xpress. If the foam piece came off while lifting the box off the Prep Xpress, move on to step 3.

Set aside all packing material to store later. If you need to repack your Prep Xpress for repair or return, you must use the same packing materials.

Illustration shows a foam piece being lifted off the top of the main instrument box.

  3. Step 3: Set Aside Power Cable

Set aside the power cable from on top of the Prep Xpress.

Illustration shows a power cable being lifted from the top of the instrument.

  4. Step 4: Unfold Bag Flaps

Un-tape and unfold the flaps of the bag.

  9. Step 9: Lift Instrument from Box

Lift the Prep Xpress out of the lower box and place it on the bench. Make sure the location meets the requirements on page 3 for best results.

The handles are located on the lower edge of the left, right, and back sides of the Prep Xpress; the foam base has cutouts for the handles. Do not lift or move the Prep Xpress with less than two people.
