Blinds2Go Measuring Guide: Aluminium Venetian Blinds
Made to measure, made simple. Measuring for your new blinds is straightforward. Follow these simple tips, double-check your measurements, and allow sufficient time for the task. This guide provides instructions for measuring Aluminium Venetian Blinds.
Standard Windows
This section covers measuring for both recess fitting and exact fitting for standard windows.
Recess Fitting
This method is for fitting the blind inside the window recess. It is mandatory for Click2Go blinds.
Measure the full width and height of the recess (the opening of the window). We will make the necessary deductions for a perfect fit.
- Measure the width and drop in three places. Use the smallest measurement for each.
- Do not make any deductions yourself; we will deduct 10mm from the width to ensure a perfect fit.
- Use a metal tape measure, as cloth tapes can stretch and lead to inaccurate measurements.
Top-Tip: Ensure your recess is deep enough to accommodate the blind, considering any obstructions like window handles.
Note for Click2Go Venetian Blinds: If the difference between the top and narrowest width of the recess is 10mm or more, consider a standard installation instead of Click2Go.
Aluminium Venetian Blind Depth: 45mm
Exact Fitting
This method is for fitting the blind onto the wall outside the window recess.
Measure the full width and height of the recess and add extra to the top and sides. We will manufacture the blind to your specified dimensions with no deductions.
- To minimize light leakage, overlap the window recess by at least 70mm at the top and 50mm on each side.
- The overlap at the bottom is a personal choice, but consider obstacles like radiators.
Top-Tip: If replacing an existing blind of the same size, measure the existing blind (including fittings) and specify exact fitting. We will produce a blind of the same dimensions.
Measuring Tips for Other Windows
Fitting inside a part-tiled recess
For recesses with tiles part-way up (common in kitchens and bathrooms), the narrowest point between the tiles is usually the critical measurement.
Measure between the tiles to ensure the blind will fit. This type of recess is not suitable for Click2Go Venetian Blinds.
Top-Tip: Apply the same principle if you have a picture rail, skirting board, or other obstructions inside the recess.
Bay windows, half-bays & L-shaped windows
Blinds2Go offers specific guides for measuring Venetian blinds for bay windows. Please refer to the following links:
- Angled bay windows: Use this guide for angled half-bay windows as the principle is the same.
- Square bay windows: Use this guide for L-shaped windows as well.
Note: Click2Go Venetian Blinds are designed for recess fitting only and cannot be used in bay windows.
