HOW TO USE THE TREADMILL
How to Connect the Power Cord
Use a Surge Suppressor: Your treadmill can be damaged by voltage changes. Always use a surge suppressor. It must be UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS), with a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules. It must be rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps, and have a monitoring light. Failure to use a properly functioning surge suppressor can damage the control system and cause serious injury.
Grounded Outlet: The treadmill must be grounded. The power cord has a grounding pin. DANGER: Improper connection increases the risk of electric shock. Do not modify the plug; have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Contact an electrician if unsure about grounding.
Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor, and plug the suppressor into an appropriate, properly installed, and grounded outlet (120-volt circuit, 15 amps minimum). To avoid overloading the circuit, do not plug other high-power devices into the same circuit.
A temporary adapter can be used for a 2-pole receptacle if a grounded outlet is unavailable. Connect the adapter's lug or wire to a permanent ground (e.g., a grounded outlet box cover). Some outlet box covers are not grounded; consult an electrician. Use adapters only until a properly grounded outlet can be installed.

HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL
How to Fold the Treadmill
To avoid damaging the treadmill, adjust the incline to zero before folding. Then, remove the key and unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
- Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow. CAUTION: Do not hold the frame by the plastic foot rails. Bend your legs and keep your back straight.
- Raise the frame until the storage latch locks in the storage position. CAUTION: Make sure the storage latch locks.
To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the treadmill. Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight. Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in temperatures above 85°F (30°C).
How to Move the Treadmill
Before moving, fold it as described above and ensure the storage latch is locked. CAUTION: Moving the treadmill may require two people.
- Hold the frame and one of the handrails, and place one foot against a wheel.
- Pull back on the handrail until the treadmill will roll on the wheels, and carefully move it to the desired location. CAUTION: Do not move the treadmill without tipping it back, do not pull on the frame, and do not move the treadmill over an uneven surface.
Place one foot against a wheel, and carefully lower the treadmill.
How to Lower the Treadmill for Use
- Push the upper end of the frame forward, and gently press the upper part of the storage latch with your foot at the same time.
- While pressing the storage latch with your foot, pull the upper end of the frame toward yourself.
- Step back and let the frame lower to the floor.
MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is important for optimal performance and to reduce wear. Inspect and properly tighten all parts each time the treadmill is used. Replace any worn parts immediately.
Regularly clean the treadmill and keep the walking belt clean and dry. First, press the power switch into the off position and unplug the power cord. Wipe exterior parts with a damp cloth and mild soap. IMPORTANT: Do not spray liquids directly onto the treadmill. Keep liquids away from the console. Then, thoroughly dry the treadmill with a soft towel.
Troubleshooting
Most treadmill problems can be solved by following these steps. If further assistance is needed, see the front cover of this manual.
Symptom: The power does not turn on
- Make sure the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor, and the suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet (page 19). Use only a surge suppressor meeting specifications on page 19. IMPORTANT: If connected to an AFCI outlet and the breaker trips repeatedly, see front cover for arc filter purchase.
- After plugging in the power cord, ensure the key is inserted into the console.
- Check the power switch on the treadmill frame near the power cord. If it protrudes, it has tripped. Wait five minutes and press it back in to reset.
- The console requires activation. If not activated, see assembly step 21 on page 17.
Symptom: The power turns off during use
- Check the power switch (see drawing above). If tripped, wait five minutes and press it back in.
- Make sure the power cord is plugged in. If it is, unplug it, wait five minutes, and plug it back in.
- Remove the key from the console, then reinsert it.
- If the treadmill still will not run, contact customer service (front cover).
Symptom: The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly
- Calibrate the incline system (see THE SETTINGS MODE on page 26). After calibration, remove the key from the console.
Symptom: The walking belt slows when walked on
- Use only a surge suppressor meeting specifications on page 19.
- If the walking belt is overtightened, performance may decrease and the belt may be damaged. Remove key and UNPLUG POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both idler roller screws counterclockwise, 1/4 turn. Properly tightened belt should lift 2-3 in. (5-7 cm) off the platform. Keep belt centered. Plug in, insert key, walk for a few minutes. Repeat until properly tightened.
- Your treadmill has a walking belt coated with high-performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or platform unless instructed by an authorized service representative, as they may deteriorate the belt and cause excessive wear. If more lubricant is suspected, contact customer service.
- If the belt still slows, contact customer service (front cover).
Symptom: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on
- Off-center: Remove key and UNPLUG POWER CORD. If belt shifted left, turn left idler roller screw clockwise 1/2 turn. If shifted right, turn left idler roller screw counterclockwise 1/2 turn. Do not overtighten. Plug in, insert key, walk for a few minutes. Repeat until centered.
- Slips: Remove key and UNPLUG POWER CORD. Using hex key, turn both idler roller screws clockwise, 1/4 turn. Properly tightened belt should lift 2-3 in. (5-7 cm) off the platform. Keep belt centered. Plug in, insert key, walk for a few minutes. Repeat until properly tightened.
Symptom: The tablet holder does not stay in place
- Rotate the tablet holder backward. Tighten the indicated screw slightly until the holder stays in place when rotated to the desired position.
EXERCISE GUIDELINES
⚠️ WARNING: Before beginning this or any exercise program, consult your physician. This is especially important for persons over age 35 or persons with pre-existing health problems.
The heart rate monitor is not a medical device. Various factors may affect accuracy. It is intended only as an exercise aid for determining heart rate trends.
These guidelines help plan your exercise program. For detailed information, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. Proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
Exercise Intensity
Exercising at the proper intensity is key to achieving goals like fat burning or cardiovascular strengthening. Use your heart rate as a guide. The chart below shows recommended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise.
To find your proper intensity level, find your age at the bottom of the chart (ages rounded to nearest ten years). The three numbers above your age define your "training zone": lowest for fat burning, middle for maximum fat burning, and highest for aerobic exercise.
Burning Fat: Exercise at low intensity for a sustained period. Your body uses carbohydrate calories first, then stored fat calories. For fat burning, adjust intensity until heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone. For maximum fat burning, aim for the middle number.
Aerobic Exercise: To strengthen your cardiovascular system, perform aerobic exercise (activity requiring large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods). Adjust intensity until heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone.
Workout Guidelines
- Warming Up: Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise. A warm-up increases body temperature, heart rate, and circulation.
- Training Zone Exercise: Exercise for 20 to 30 minutes with your heart rate in your training zone. (During the first few weeks, do not exceed 20 minutes in the training zone.) Breathe regularly and deeply; never hold your breath.
- Cooling Down: Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching. Stretching increases muscle flexibility and helps prevent post-exercise problems.
Exercise Frequency
To maintain or improve condition, complete three workouts each week, with at least one day of rest between workouts. After a few months, you may complete up to five workouts per week. Success depends on making exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your life.
