Introduction
We all know that the Sega Genesis brought us many hours of fun, but, as we get older, the reset button gets older too.
Today, let's lend a hand to our nice friend and replace its reset button!

Step 1 - Outer Case
The underside of the Sega Genesis console is shown. Red circles highlight six screws that need to be removed with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
Remove the six screws from the underside of the console with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
Step 2
The Sega Genesis console is positioned upright, ready for the next step.
Flip the Sega Genesis upright.
Step 3
The top casing of the Sega Genesis is being lifted. A red box draws attention to the LED wires connecting the top casing to the main board.
Gently lift the top casing.
Note: The case will be connected to the main board by LED wires.
Step 4
Inside the top casing, the leads for the LED wires are shown bent outwards into a vertical orientation.
Bend out the LED leads into vertical positions.
Step 5
Hands are carefully disconnecting the LED wire connector from the pins on the main board. A note advises to observe the color of each wire and its corresponding pin length.
Slide the LED wire apparatus off the lead pins.
Note: Observe which color wire corresponds with which length of pin.
Step 6
The Sega Genesis main board is completely separated from its outer plastic casing.
Separate the main board from the outer case.
Step 7 - Sega Genesis Reset Button Repair
The Sega Genesis main board is shown. Red circles indicate eleven screws that secure a silver metal casing, which are to be removed with a Phillips screwdriver.
Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove 11 screws securing the silver casing.
Step 8
The silver metal casing has been removed from the Sega Genesis main board, exposing the internal circuitry.
Remove the silver case.
Step 9

Locate the reset button on the motherboard.
Step 10
The reset button on the Sega Genesis motherboard is shown with three small pieces of 1cm x 1cm masking tape applied directly over it.
Place three pieces of 1cm x 1cm masking tape over the reset button.
Reassembly
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. And the most important, be happy!
