Denver HSM-5003 GPRS/MMS/SMS Digital Infrared Trail Camera User's Manual

1. Instructions

1.1 General Description

This digital trail camera with MMS function operates automatically day and night. It is triggered by motion detected by the motion sensor, capturing pictures (up to 12M pixels) or recording 1080p or HD video clips. During the day, it takes color photos and videos. When light is insufficient, it switches to monochrome photos and videos. The camera supports 2G/GSM/MMS/SMTP/SMS and is waterproof with an IP54 rating.

1.2 Camera Body Interface

The camera features the following interfaces: USB connector, MICRO SD-Card Slot, SIM card slot, TV output, and an external DC power connector.

1.3 Camera components and features

The camera components include:

1.4 Remote Control

The remote control is used for menu settings and password input. It is wireless with a maximum range of 9 meters. Use the LEFT/RIGHT buttons to select menu tables, UP/DOWN buttons to select sub-menus, and OK to confirm.

1.5 Shooting Information Display

When the power switch is in the TEST position, shooting information is displayed on the monitor. This display includes camera mode (photo/video), image size (e.g., 12M), signal strength, SIM card status, battery level, date, time, and available picture space.

1.6 Brief Introduction for SIM card and Signal

Two SIM card icons indicate that a SIM card is inserted and functional. A strong signal is indicated by a good network signal strength display.

1.7 Supported Format

Item Format
Photo JPG
Video AVI

2. Easy Operation

2.1 Power Supply

The camera requires 8 AA batteries for power. Recommended batteries include high-density alkaline batteries, rechargeable alkaline batteries, or rechargeable NiMH batteries (all 1.5V output). In Test Mode, the camera automatically shuts down after 3 minutes of inactivity to save power, but can be reactivated by motion detection. The camera also shuts down in low power states; replace batteries promptly.

2.2 Insert the MICRO SD-card and the SIM-card

Insert the MICRO SD card and SIM card into their respective slots. Ensure the SIM card is correctly inserted for MMS/E-mail functionality.

2.3 Enter into the TEST Mode

Turn the power switch to the TEST position to enter TEST mode. In this mode, users can access settings, manually capture photos or videos, and preview captured media.

2.3.1 User Settings

Press the MENU button to access settings. Users can configure mode, interval, picture resolution, video resolution and length, and other parameters as detailed in subsequent sections.

2.3.2 Manual Capturing

Press the RIGHT button to manually capture photos or record videos.

2.3.3 View Images or Videos

Captured images or videos can be viewed on the camera's LCD screen or on a TV connected via a TV cable. Press OK to view the latest file. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to navigate through captured files.

2.4 Power on and Enter into the ON Mode

Before powering on, avoid facing light sources directly to prevent false triggers. The recommended placement height is 1-2 meters from the ground. After powering on, a red light will blink for approximately 10 seconds, indicating a buffering period before automatic capturing begins. This allows time to close and lock the bottom cover, mount the camera, and move away.

2.5 Power Off

Slide the power switch to the OFF position to turn off the camera. If the camera will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries.
