1. Product Overview

The sports camera shown in the diagrams is not included in the package.

Gimbal Components:

  • Retainer Bar: Secures the camera.
  • Tilt Axis: Allows the camera to tilt up or down.
  • Cross Arm: Connects the tilt and roll axes.
  • Roll Axis: Allows the camera to roll left or right.
  • Display: Shows gimbal status and modes.
  • Joystick: Controls camera movement.
  • Function Button: Used for power, mode switching, and initialization.
  • Shutter Button: Controls camera shutter.
  • Setting Button: Used for switching camera modes and parameters.
  • Micro USB Port: For charging the gimbal.
  • 1/4-20 Thread Mount: For attaching to tripods or other accessories.
  • Thumb Screw: Secures the camera to the mounting plate.
  • Mounting Plate: Where the camera is attached.
  • Knob Ring: Used for balancing adjustments.
  • Vertical Arm: Connects the roll axis to the handle.
  • Pan Axis: Allows the camera to pan left or right.
  • Positioning Pin: Aids in camera mounting.
  • Handle: Grip for the user.

  • 26650 Li-ion rechargeable battery x1

2. Quick Start Guide

1. Install Battery

Please fully charge the battery before powering on the gimbal for the first time. Remove the bottom cap, insert a 26650 battery, and then tighten the cap.

2. Put the Camera On

Mount the camera before powering on the gimbal. When not in use, turn off the gimbal and remove the camera.

Example: GoPro HERO 5

Attach the camera to the mounting plate and tighten it with the retainer bar and thumb screw.

Mounting Options:

  • Option 1: Normal Position
  • Option 2: Reverse Position

Note: It is suggested to turn on the camera before installation for the normal position.

Put the RX0 Camera On

To work with the RX0 camera, an RX0 camera adapter kit is required (optional).

Replacement Steps:

  1. Loosen and remove the original fixed plate of the gimbal.
  2. Install the RX0 adapter plate and tighten screws ① and ②.
  3. Insert set screw ③ from the bottom of the RX0 adapter plate into the camera.
  4. Place the camera and tighten the set screw.

3. Balance the Gimbal (Before Power On)

Proper balancing is crucial for gimbal performance.

  • If the camera tilts to the left: Loosen the knob ring, pull the cross arm out to the right until the camera is horizontal.
  • If the camera tilts to the right: Loosen the knob ring, push the cross arm in to the left until the camera is horizontal.

The goal is to achieve a 'Best balance' where the camera remains level.

4. Power On / Off

To power on or off, long press the function button. The display will show the FeiyuTech logo (Fy), and you can release the button when you hear a beep tone.

3. Charging

1. Charging for Gimbal

  • Option 1: Charging with Micro USB cable: Connect the gimbal's USB port to a power source using the provided Micro USB cable. Charging status icons will appear on the display screen, indicating charging progress and completion. Input: 5V/2A.
  • Option 2: Charge the battery separately: Remove the battery and charge it using a compatible charger (equipped by user).

2. Charging for Camera

Connect the camera to the gimbal using the Type C charging cable. The camera can be charged when the gimbal is powered on, using the camera power supply port on the gimbal.

Display Description

The current mode or status of the gimbal can be identified by the display icons.

Display Icons and Modes/Status:

  • HF: Panning mode
  • AF: Follow mode
  • LK: Lock mode
  • SET WIFI VIA APP: Prompt to open the App settings to connect via WiFi.
  • Bluetooth connected: ? Connected
  • Bluetooth not connected: ? Not connected
  • Camera not connected: ? Not connected
  • Camera photo shooting: ? Photo shooting
  • Camera video shooting: ? Video shooting
  • Camera time-lapse video shooting: ? Time-lapse video shooting
  • WiFi connected: ? Connected
  • WiFi not connected: ? Not connected
  • Battery level: ? Level indicator

Setting Button Operation

Single tap the setting button to switch camera modes.

Shutter Button Operation

After connecting the gimbal to the camera via the Feiyu ON App, a single tap of the shutter button can control the camera for shooting.

Using the Joystick to Set Up Parameters

The joystick can be used to navigate and select parameters.

  • Move left/right: Switch content.
  • Move up/down: Switch setting parameters.
  • To confirm: Move to right until "OK" displays, then move right again for confirmation.

Modes:

  • Panning Mode (Default): The roll and tilt directions are fixed. The camera moves according to the left-right movements of the user's hand.
  • Lock Mode: The orientation of the camera is fixed.
  • Follow Mode: The roll direction is fixed. The camera moves according to the left-right and up-down movements of the user's hand.
  • Reset: Returns the gimbal to panning mode, with all three axes reset to their default positions.

Horizontal Angle Control

You can control the horizon angle using the horizontal adjustment button while in panning mode, follow mode, or lock mode.

Manual Lock

The camera can be manually positioned in panning mode, follow mode, or lock mode. Both the pan and tilt axes can be manually set up.

Manually move the camera to the desired position and hold for half a second. New tilt and/or pan positions are automatically saved.

Auto-rotation Mode

The G6 gimbal can create constant speed movements in auto-rotation mode, suitable for regular video and motion timelapse photography. For best performance, attach the gimbal to a tripod.

1. Set Rotation Speed in Feiyu ON App

Connect to the Feiyu ON App and select the desired speed from the auto-rotation mode rate options in the settings menu.

Note: Both pan and tilt directions can be rotated.

2. Enter Auto-rotation Mode

Enter auto-rotation mode by quadruple tapping the function button.

3. Set Rotation Start Position

Record the first position (start position) by manually moving the camera to the desired position. Hold for half a second, then single tap the function button to record the start position.

4. Set Rotation End Position

Record the second position (end position) by manually moving the camera to the desired position. Hold for half a second, then single tap the function button to record the end position.

5. Start Auto Rotation Movements

The gimbal automatically returns to the start position, and the tilt and pan axes rotate at a constant speed to the end position, entering follow mode at the end.

Exit Auto-rotation Mode:

  • After auto-rotation finishes, the gimbal automatically exits and enters follow mode.
  • During auto-rotation mode or setting, double tap the trigger button to exit and reset.

5. Download and Connect App

1. Download and Install "Feiyu ON" App

  • iOS Version: Download from the App Store.
  • Android Version: Download from Google Play or other app stores (e.g., 360 Mobile Assistant, Wandoujia).

Scan QR codes to automatically link to the app download page.

2. Connecting App

Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone and run the Feiyu ON App. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the smartphone to the gimbal via Bluetooth.

6. Connecting to Camera

The G6 gimbal can connect to compatible cameras using the Feiyu ON App.

Operations Available After Connecting:

Steps of Connecting to Camera:

  1. Turn on your sports camera's WiFi.
  2. In the Feiyu ON App, navigate to "Settings" → "Parameters Settings" → "WiFi Settings".
  3. Select your camera model.
  4. Select your camera's connection name and enter the correct WiFi password.
  5. Wait for connection.
  6. Connection successful.

If the ? icon appears on the display, the gimbal failed to connect. Try restarting the gimbal or camera, or follow the connection steps again.

7. Firmware Upgrade

Connect the gimbal to the Feiyu ON App to upgrade the firmware.

8. Gimbal Initialization

Initialize your gimbal when:

  • The camera is not level.
  • The gimbal has not been used for a long period.
  • In case of extreme temperature variations.

Adjusting Steps:

  1. Tap the function button 5 consecutive times. You will hear a "beep" sound, the motor will stop working, and "Initing" will appear on the display.
  2. Place the gimbal on a flat, unmoved surface. The gimbal will automatically detect the surface and start initializing, showing "Initing" on the display. "Success" will be displayed upon completion.
  3. After initialization is done, single tap the function button to wake up the gimbal and return to the main interface.

Note: If initialization is not successful after a long time, long press the function button to turn off the gimbal, restart it, and then initialize again.
