Dimensions and Installation Information

This section provides key dimensions and installation requirements for the GE Profile dryer.

Electrical Dryer Rating

Circuit Requirements

An individual, properly grounded branch circuit, protected by a 30-amp circuit breaker or a time-delay fuse, is required.

Note: The dryer wall outlet must be located within 36 inches of the service cord entry and accessible when the dryer is mounted in position.

Dimensional Views and Clearances

Front View: The dryer has a width of 28 inches (71.2 cm). With leveling legs retracted, the height is 39-3/4 inches (101 cm). With leveling legs fully extended, the height is 40-5/8 inches (103.1 cm).

Side View: The dryer has a depth of 32 inches (86.4 cm) and a height of 46-3/4 inches (118.7 cm). This view also illustrates the dryer with an optional riser (7 inches high) or pedestal (16 inches high), which can increase the overall height and accessibility. The riser is noted as ADA-compliant.

Back View: The back view shows the dryer exhaust vent connection (3-5/8 inches) and the power cord connection (1-5/8 inches).

Stacked Configuration: When stacked with a compatible washer, the total height is approximately 79-1/2 inches (202 cm).

Exhaust Options

The dryer supports 4-way venting: rear, left, right, and bottom. Venting to the right, left, or bottom requires the Side Vent Kit (GFA28DSVN).

Special Installation Requirements

• Stacked Installation: Brackets for stacking are not included and must be ordered separately (Part No. GFA28KITN).
• Alcove or Closet Installation: If approved, the dryer must be exhausted to the outside. Minimum clearances are 0 inches on all sides and top. Closet doors must be louvered or ventilated, with a minimum of 60 sq. in. of open area (120 sq. in. if a washer is also present).
• Bathroom or Bedroom Installation: The dryer must be exhausted to the outside. Installation must conform with local codes, the National Electric Code, and the National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223).
• Minimum Clearances (Other than Alcove/Closet): Minimum clearances to combustible surfaces are 0 inches on all sides and top. A 1/2 inch clearance on each side is suggested for improved performance.

Dryer Venting Information – Metal Duct Only

For best performance, use 4-inch diameter all-rigid metal exhaust duct. UL-listed flexible metal (semi-rigid) ducting can be used if rigid metal is not feasible (Kit PM08X10084 or PM08X10085). Flexible metal (foil-type) ducting is only permitted in specific installations where rigid or semi-rigid ducting cannot be used, and a 4-inch diameter must be maintained throughout the transition duct.

Exhaust Length Calculation

The maximum length of 4-inch rigid duct depends on the number of 90-degree turns:

Note: A 45° turn or less can be ignored. Two 45° turns count as one 90° elbow. A turn over 45° counts as one 90° elbow.

Caution: Do not terminate exhaust into chimneys, enclosed house floors, attics, or common ducts with kitchen exhausts due to fire hazards and moisture damage. Exhaust ducts should terminate in a dampered wall cap located at least 12 inches above ground, with the opening pointed down.
