Avoid ingredients like nuts, raisins, biscuit, coconut, caramel, wafer, nougat, as they may block the whisk. Chop chocolate to recommended sizes if necessary. Deviating from recommendations may affect beverage volume and appliance performance. Never fill above 'Max' or under 'Min' fill volumes.

Hints and Tips

General

  • Always use cold milk straight from the fridge.
  • Works best with milk high in protein (e.g., dairy, soya).
  • Dualit recommends semi-skimmed or UHT milk. Full fat milk (over 3% fat) may not froth well. Different milks froth at different rates.
  • For plant-based milk (soya, oat, almond), use 'barista-grade' varieties for better froth.

Chocolate

  • Breaking chocolate into smaller pieces improves melting and reduces residue.
  • If chocolate residue is found, on the next use, wait 1 minute after the cycle finishes before pouring.
  • Chocolate with lower cocoa content has a lower melting point and reduces residue.
  • If chocolate residue is on the Basket, move the Whisk up and down in hot milk until melted.
  • Check that the Whisk and Basket spin freely before use. Ensure all parts are clean.
  • For sweeter drinks, add up to 50g of chocolate (may increase residue).
  • You can make two Chocolate Milkshakes simultaneously: divide liquid between two cups and add 70g of ice per cup.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, consult the following:

Appliance Does Not Turn On

  • Check: Plug is in socket, switch is on.
  • Check: Plug fuse may have failed. Replace with a 5 amp fuse (ASTA approved to BS1362) and check your RCD.
  • Check: Heating element broken or thermal fuse activated. Contact Dualit Customer Services for assistance.
  • Cooling: Jug is still warm from a previous cycle. Pour cold water into the Jug and allow it to cool between cycles.

Non-Stick Coating is Damaged

  • Cause: Milk overheated after the cycle.
  • Solution: Ensure milk level is between MIN and MAX fill markings. Do not lift the Jug before the cycle is completed.
  • Cause: Non-stick coating damaged during cleaning.
  • Solution: Do not use abrasive cloths or sharp objects when cleaning the inside of the Jug.

Large Amount of Chocolate Residue Left Inside Jug After Cycle

  • Cause: Chocolate not melting and mixing into milk.
  • Solutions:
    • Add chocolate after the Whisk with Basket attachment and milk are in the Jug.
    • Use cold milk straight from the fridge for better melting efficiency.
    • Use less chocolate or break into smaller pieces. Chocolate with lower cocoa content reduces residue.
    • Do not turn the device off during a cycle.
    • Leave the device for 1 minute after a completed cycle to allow longer melting time. Move the Whisk up and down to encourage melting.
    • Ensure the device is allowed to cool fully between cycles.

Whisk Is Not Spinning or Is Noisy When Spinning

  • Cause: Whisk has misaligned from the motor.
  • Solutions: Remove and re-insert the Whisk. Ensure Jug and attachments are clean, as residue can disrupt magnetisation.
  • Cause: Chocolate segments knocked the Whisk out of place.
  • Solution: Remove attachments, re-insert. Always use the Basket attachment for chocolate beverages.
  • Cause: Attachments are not properly affixed.
  • Solution: Slide attachments onto the Whisk and push down until they click into place.
  • Cause: Milk/chocolate has dried onto the Whisk, Flat White Cap, or Basket.
  • Solution: Check that the Whisk, Flat White Cap, and Basket spin freely before use. Clean any residue.

The Power Button Is Flashing But the Device Will Not Turn

  • Cause: The boil-dry feature has been activated (protects the device if it gets too hot).
  • Solution: Wash the Jug with cold water and ensure milk is filled above the MIN line when adding milk.
