Introduction

Thank you for purchasing SUNLIKE 50W Urban Lighting Products.

The high-performance SUNLIKE 50W is a municipal-grade solar outdoor lighting system that provides bright off-grid light. This heavy-duty commercial dedicated series is ideal for highways, city streets, large parking lots, and area lighting. It comes in a wide choice of configurations, lighting outputs, and recommended pole heights. The SUNLIKE 50W is optimized to provide years of bright, reliable light. Industry-leading efficiency, dense batteries, and advanced controls guarantee the highest possible off-grid autonomy.

Important Notes

Please save these instructions. Read all instructions carefully before installation or wiring. Do not open or attempt to repair the product yourself, as this may cause serious damage and void the warranty. Contact your local distributor for any installation questions.

The light module's range is 20-26 feet (6-8 meters). The ideal installation spacing is greater than 16 feet (5 meters). When installing multiple fixtures on one pole, select the desired operating mode before installation. Interference can cause delay or malfunction when using the remote control to change modes after installation.

Precautions when working with solar panels

When the solar panel is exposed to sunlight, a voltage appears at its output terminals, making it a source of electricity. To avoid shock hazard, cover the solar panel with an opaque (dark) layer such as paper or cloth during installation. Do not touch the terminals when the panel is exposed to sunlight or any other light source.

* The temperature can impact the battery's charging and normal operation. If your place's temperature is under 32°F, it is advised to use the Sunlike 50W Pro version.

* The solar charge time data is based on 77°F ambient temperature with the panel pointed directly at the solar radiation (1000W/m²).

Luminous Distribution

Battery Notes

  1. The LiFePO4-battery-powered SUNLIKE lights offer superior brightness and reliability compared to other outdoor solar lights.
  2. Full battery charging may take 6 to 12 hours.
  3. Output is reduced to 40% when the battery capacity is below 40%.
  4. Battery charging stops when the ambient temperature is below 32°F or above 149°F.

Storage

To avoid over-discharge during storage, recharge the lighting fixture every 3 months using the dedicated charger. Reset the switch when done.

ATTENTION

It is NOT recommended to replace the battery pack yourself. Please contact SOLTECH for any battery-related questions.

(IAP) Intelligent Adaptive Program Battery Control Technology

To extend off-grid autonomy under challenging conditions (shady trees, heavy rain, thick clouds), our controllers feature an adaptive smart control that tracks battery capacity and adjusts light output accordingly. Previously, selecting a percentage on the remote determined the constant percentage of max LED brightness. With (IAP), the controller monitors the battery and regulates electrical current to the LEDs, applying the selected percentage relative to battery capacity rather than max LED output. This feature can increase off-grid performance by up to 40%.

Installation and Wiring Compliance

  1. Installation and wiring must comply with State and National Electrical Codes.
  2. The SUNLIKE 50W models are intended for outdoor use only. Avoid installation in unventilated areas and ensure the environment is within the product's operational temperatures.
  3. The installation area should receive an average of 3.5 hours/day of sunshine to ensure full lighting fixture function. Avoid shaded areas.
  4. Before installation, ensure the light pole and its foundation are solid enough to withstand the fixture(s).
  5. Ensure the battery is fully charged before installation. Install during sunny days if possible.
  6. Before installation, press the ON/OFF key on the remote control and check for a red light on the indicator. Cover the panel and verify the light module turns on normally within 1 minute.

After Installation

The lighting fixture will automatically turn on at night and turn off during daylight.

Mounting Sleeve

Pole Assembly

Tenon Adapter

If your round pole size is over 3.1 inches, or you use a square pole, please connect with the pole manufacturer for the appropriate tenon adapter.

Installation

ATTENTION: Be careful with the solar board when you put SUNLIKE 50W on the pole.

Please loosen the screws to adjust the angle of the light.

Panel Angle

The solar charge in a battery pack won't last forever. The off-grid system relies on stored solar energy for autonomy. Angling your solar panels properly can boost the power intake of your solar lighting system. You want to angle your solar panels at a tilt based on the area's latitude.

Tip

You can increase the tilt by 15° in the winter or decrease it by 15° in the summer to get the maximum sunlight to recharge the battery bank.

Best Facing Direction For The Solar Panel

The area will dictate the installation of the fixtures and may sometimes prevent the lights from facing south. Panels facing West & East won't get as much light as Southern facing panels, but will still collect a good amount of sunlight. A North facing panel also works but will take longer to charge, meaning less optimal solar charge if installations face North.

Remote Control Guide

The range of the remote control to the indicator is 16ft (Day time) to 33ft (Night time). Because sunlight impacts the signal, it is recommended that users set up the mode before installing the light.

Important: Dusk and dawn times can vary by location and season. The product sensors monitor light levels. The time periods shown in charts are examples.

Warranty

The SUNLIKE 50W is covered by a 5-year limited warranty. SOLTECH urban lights warrant to the original purchaser that this product is free from defects in materials and workmanship for 5 years from the date of purchase. To obtain warranty service, please contact your local distributor or sales representative for further instruction.
