Before Use for the First Time
Before first use, remove possible manufacturing process residues by boiling 3 full kettles of water and discarding the water.
Using Your Kettle
- Pull up the lid.
- Fill the jug with the required quantity of water (at least 0.6L, and a maximum of 1.7L). Never fill the water boiler over the "max" level, as hot water can spatter out.
- Replace the lid. Always fit the lid when boiling the kettle.
- Put the power base on a stable, level surface.
- Plug the power base into the wall socket.
- Place the kettle on the power base.
- Move the switch to 'I'. The indicator light will come on, and the kettle will start to heat.
- When the water boils, the kettle will switch off automatically.
- To switch off manually, move the switch to '0', or simply lift the kettle off the stand.
Water Temperature Gauge
The water temperature gauge shows the water temperature inside the kettle. Use the gauge for drinks requiring different water temperatures (e.g., green teas, white teas, coffee). The gauge will not work if there is insufficient water in the kettle (below the minimum level).
General Kettle Notes
Moisture on the stand when lifting the kettle is normal; it is condensed steam escaping from vents under the kettle.
Overheating Safeguard
The jug kettle is fitted with an overheating safeguard that switches off the kettle if operated without sufficient water. Allow the kettle to cool down for at least 10 minutes before using it again.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Remove the plug from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool.
- Clean the jug with a damp cloth. Never immerse the appliance in water. Never put the appliance in a dishwasher. Ensure electrical connections do not become damp.
- If the interior of the jug becomes severely discoloured, clean it with a damp cloth and a little washing soda. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning.
ATTENTION:
- Never use corrosive or scouring cleaning agents or sharp objects (such as knives or hard brushes) to clean the appliance.
- Before cleaning, ensure the appliance is unplugged and has cooled down.
Descaling
This appliance has an integral heating element, so limescale should not form. If you wish to descale the appliance:
- Remove the plug from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool.
- The kettle is equipped with a descaling filter; this filter must be removed for cleaning.
- Fill the jug with a vinegar solution to the MAX level and bring to a boil.
- Leave the jug with the vinegar solution to stand for a couple of hours.
- Empty the jug, fill with clean water to the MAX level, and bring to a boil. Empty the jug. Repeat this process twice.
- Never use ammonia or other products to descale the appliance, as they can be injurious to health. Use solely a vinegar solution or special descaling agents available from retailers.
