Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Adastra L01R portable megaphone for voice reinforcement. This product is designed to offer convenient and easy operation for a wide range of portable public-address requirements. Please use the following instructions to gain the best results from your L01R megaphone.

Safety

The L01R megaphone can produce high sound pressure levels at close quarters. Please be aware not to aim the horn flare toward listeners at close proximity, which may risk damage to the listeners' hearing.

The L01R operates from 4 x "C" cell batteries. It is advised to use alkaline or NiMH batteries and remove these when not in use for long periods of time. Some batteries can leak fluids which are corrosive and can cause damage to the internal circuitry.

Positioning during operation

When in use, the hand grip of the megaphone should be folded out fully and held firmly with the flare facing toward the audience. Keeping the loop strap around the wrist is advised for added security. In between uses, the megaphone can be placed on a flat surface with the flare facing downward, protected by the rubber trim around the flare edge.

Cleaning

The housing is water resistant and can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not use detergents or solvents on the housing and take care not to allow liquids to get inside the housing at the rear or via the battery compartment.

Rear control panel

The rear panel features a control layout with numbered components. These include:

Setting up

Before operating the L01R megaphone, it will be necessary to load it with 4 x "C" cell batteries. To access the rear battery compartment, press the battery compartment release button (8) and the rear section of the megaphone will flip upwards to reveal the battery holder.

Load in the C cell batteries with alternate polarities as shown in the diagram below. Note the imprinted "+" and "-" symbols inside the compartment and ensure that the correct polarities are observed. Fold down the rear section to cover the battery compartment until it clicks firmly shut.

Battery configuration diagram: Four 'C' cells are inserted into a circular holder. The cells are arranged with alternating polarities: two positive terminals face upwards, and two negative terminals face upwards.

Operation

Make sure that the hand grip is folded out fully and held firmly with the rear panel facing toward the operator and the flare facing away. For added security, place the loop strap around the wrist.

Adjust the VOLUME slider (5) to the centre of its travel and press the SPEECH button (3) in; the active LED indicator (2) will light to show that the megaphone is powered on. Speak into the microphone (1) and adjust the volume up or down to suit the output level required. When speech is finished, press the SPEECH button to the out position, which also preserves the battery.

If an alert is required, pressing the SIREN button (4) in activates the internal siren. Pressing this button again to the out position stops the siren.

Looper function

The L01R megaphone has a looper function which allows the user to record a short message and replay it through the megaphone. To use the looper function, do the following:

  1. Adjust the volume control fully down.
  2. Press the SIREN (4) and REC (7) buttons in together.
  3. Speak into the microphone to record the announcement (maximum is around 15 seconds).
  4. Press both SIREN and REC buttons to the out position to finish recording.
  5. Press the PLAY (6) button to playback the recorded message whilst increasing the volume.
  6. Press PLAY to the out position to stop playback.
