Eaton Series DA 636 Pressure Filter
NPS 3" CLASS 150-300 PSI
Product Description
The Eaton Series DA 636 is a pressure filter designed for changeover applications, compliant with ASME-Code. It offers a working pressure up to 40 bar and can absorb pressure peaks with a sufficient safety margin. A key feature is the changeover ball valve, allowing seamless switching between two filter housings from the dirty to the clean filter side without interrupting operation. The filter element is constructed with star-shaped, pleated filter material supported by a perforated core tube and bonded with high-quality adhesive, with flow direction from outside to inside. Eaton filter elements are recognized for their high intrinsic stability, excellent filtration capability, high dirt-retaining capacity, and long service life, suitable for various hydraulic fluids and oils.

Diagram Description
The main diagram illustrates the Series DA 636 Pressure Filter assembly. It shows two filter housings connected by a changeover valve. Key connections are labeled:
- A: Process inlet (SAE 3" 3000PSI)
- B: Process outlet (SAE 3" 3000 PSI)
- C1/C2: Air bleeding (NPT ½")
- D1/D2: Drain, dirt side (NPT ½")
- E1/E2: Drain, clean side (NPT ½")
- F1: Measuring connection, dirt side (G 1¼)
- F2: Measuring connection, clean side (G 1¼)
- G1/G2: Air bleeding (NPT ½")
- H1/H2: Drain bottom (NPT ½")
The filter operates in two positions: Position I for Filter 1 and Position II for Filter 2. A note indicates that connection for potential equalization is available for explosive areas. The switch lever can be optionally moved to the backside of the changeover valve.
Weight: Approximately 170 kg.
Dimensions: Provided in mm. Designs and performance values are subject to change.
Pressure Drop Flow Curves
Filter Calculation/Sizing: The total pressure drop (Δp assembly) is the sum of the housing pressure drop (Δp housing) and the element pressure drop (Δp element). The formula for element pressure drop is:
Δp element (mbar) = Q (l/min) × (MSK value) × (Density / 0.876 kg/dm³) × (Viscosity / 30 mm²/s)
Eaton provides a Filter Selection tool online at www.eaton.com/hydraulic-filter-evaluation for ease of calculation.
Material Gradient Coefficients (MSK) for Filter Elements: These coefficients (in mbar/(l/min)) are based on mineral oil (HLP) with a density of 0.876 kg/dm³ and a kinematic viscosity of 30 mm²/s. Pressure drop is proportional to changes in viscosity and density.

Δp=f(Q) – Characteristic according ISO 3968: The graph illustrates the pressure drop characteristics for the DA 636 Housing with mineral oil (HLP) at a density of 0.876 kg/dm³. Pressure drop is proportional to density. The graph shows pressure drop (Ap in bar) on the y-axis versus flow rate (Q in l/min) on the x-axis, with curves for 30 mm²/s and 100 mm²/s kinematic viscosity.
