ULINE H-5644 Retractable Cord Reel – Heavy Duty, 40'
Installation Guide
Tools Needed
- Power Drill
- 1/4" Drill Bit
- 1/2" Wrench
Important Safety Note
All three screws with washers must be used when installing the mounting bracket. Eliminating one or more of the supplied hex head screws may cause the bracket to detach, allowing the reel to fall and causing damage, injury, or death.
Wall Mounting
- Pick an approximate location for the reel within 2.5 feet (approx. 76 cm) of a 110-125V standard outlet.
- Locate a wall stud for mounting bracket installation. Place the bracket vertically against the wall, directly over the center of the stud.
- Using the bracket as a template, mark three screw locations with a pencil. (See Figure 1 for bracket hole pattern).
- Pre-drill three screw holes using a 1/4" drill bit. Holes should be at least 2 inches (approx. 5.08 cm) deep.
- Install the bracket using the three provided hex head wood screws and washers. Tighten all screws securely with a 1/2" wrench. (See Figure 2 for bracket and screw placement).
- Install the reel into the bracket for smooth retraction.
- If the mounting height is less than 5 feet (approx. 1.5 meters), the cord opening should face upward. (See Figure 3).
- If the mounting height is more than 5 feet (approx. 1.5 meters), the cord opening should face downward. (See Figure 4).
- Slide the mounting pin through the bracket and reel. (See Figure 4).
- WARNING: Slide the locking pin through the mounting pin for security. This will prevent the mounting pin from sliding out of position. (See Figure 4).

Ceiling Mounting
- Pick an approximate location for the reel within 2.5 feet (approx. 76 cm) of a 110-125V standard outlet.
- Locate a joist or beam for mounting bracket installation. Place the bracket directly over the center of the joist or beam.
- Using the bracket as a template, mark three screw locations with a pencil. (See Figure 5 for bracket hole pattern).
- Pre-drill three screw holes using a 1/4" drill bit. Holes should be at least 2 inches (approx. 5.08 cm) deep.
- Install the bracket using the three provided hex head wood screws and washers. Tighten all screws securely with a 1/2" wrench or socket. (See Figure 6).
Note: For ceiling mounting against a steel beam, use minimum 1/4" bolts with lock washers or locking nuts.
- Install the reel into the bracket by sliding the mounting pin through the bracket and reel. (See Figure 7).
- WARNING: Slide the locking pin through the mounting pin for security. This will prevent the mounting pin from sliding out of position. (See Figure 7).
