This manual is applicable to the Milesight Network Keyboard, MS-K01. It explains how to use and manage the keyboard on your network. Prior networking experience is beneficial. Please read this manual carefully before operation and retain it for future reference.

Chapter I Product Introduction
1.1 Introduction
The Milesight Network Keyboard MS-K01 controls Milesight NVR and PTZ Cameras. It uses network connection for easy setup and control, simplifying installation. The built-in Web Server allows management via a browser. The LCD screen on the operation panel displays operations, offering a user-friendly experience.
1.2 Product Key Functions
Hardware
- Supports an LCD screen for operation display.
- Keyboard joystick supports 4D operation (up, down, left, right, rotation, confirmation).
- Shortcut keys for PTZ control (e.g., preset, patrol).
- Shortcut keys for NVR control (e.g., snapshot, audio operation).
- Shortcut keys for recording and playback control (e.g., record, play, stop, pause, speed up/down).
- Shortcut keys for light control operation.
- Easy to operate with stable performance.
General
- Supports Administrator and Operator user management.
- Compatible with IE, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari browsers for management.
- Supports auto-searching of connected devices on the same network segment.
- Can control up to 110 devices.
- Supports importing and exporting keyboard configuration files via the web page.
1.3 Appearance

1.4 Operation Panel
The operation panel includes various functional buttons:

1.5 Keyboard Joystick
Description of Joystick
Operation | Description |

Up | In PTZ mode, control the PTZ to move up. |
Down | In PTZ mode, control the PTZ to move down. |
Left | 1. In PTZ mode, control the PTZ to move left. 2. In NVR playback interface, video fast forward 30s. |
Right | 1. In PTZ mode, control the PTZ to move right. 2. In NVR playback interface, video rewind 30s. |
Left up/Left down/Right up/Right down | In PTZ mode, control the PTZ to move Left up/Left down/Right up/Right down. |
Clockwise rotation | In PTZ mode, Zoom in. |
Counterclockwise rotation | In PTZ mode, Zoom out. |
Note:
- The greater the amplitude of the joystick sway, the greater the PTZ camera speed.
- The keyboard joystick is a precision part with a rotation angle of approximately ±45°. Avoid over-rotation to prevent damage.
- '1' controls zoom (clockwise for zoom in, counterclockwise for zoom out). '2' is the central button, usable as an Enter button.
1.6 Keyboard Shuttle
Description of Shuttle
Operation | Description |

Chapter II Operation Guide
2.1 User Account
Two types of user accounts exist: admin and operator.
Admin User Permissions:
- Add up to 9 operator accounts.
- Configure keyboard parameters.
- Add, edit, and delete devices.
- Add, edit, and delete operator users.
- Control the Network Keyboard.
Operator User: Can only control the Network Keyboard.
Note:
- Both admin and operator users can control the Network Keyboard.
- Only admin users can access the keyboard via a web page.
- Only admin users can modify keyboard parameters.
2.2 Boot and Shut down of Network Keyboard
2.2.1 Boot
Step 1: Connect the power supply and cable. After a few seconds, the keyboard will initialize, and the login interface will appear on the LCD screen.

Step 2: Follow the prompts to log in. To configure parameters, log in with the admin user password.
Note:
- The default username and password are 'admin' and '1234'.
- Entering a username is optional; the password alone identifies the user.
- Logging in as an operator user provides access to all functions except [SET], which is the same as the admin user.
- When inputting the password, moving the joystick left executes a Delete action.
2.2.2 Shut Down
Unplug the power supply to power off and shut down the keyboard.
2.3 Local Keyboard Configuration by Admin
2.3.1 Login
Input the admin user password to log in the keyboard.
2.3.2 Keyboard Management
Step 1: Long press the [SYS] button for 2 seconds to enter the setting interface.

Step 2: Use the joystick to select configuration items and press [Enter] to confirm.
- Network:

- NET MODE: Choose between STATIC or DHCP to set the keyboard's IP address. After configuration, a "REBOOT NOW?" prompt appears; confirm to apply the setting.
- CURRENT IP: View the current IP address.
- Device:

- INQUIRE: View added devices.
- ADD: Select [ADD], press [ENTER] to enter the ADD DEVICE interface. Assign an ID, select device type (NVR/PTZ camera) using the joystick, enter the device IP address, and press [ENTER] to save.
- DELETE: Input the device ID and press [ENTER] to delete it.
- System:

- SOUND: Toggle keypad tones on/off using the joystick, then press [ENTER] to save.
- BACK LIGHT: Adjust screen back light retention time using the joystick, then press [ENTER] to save.
- LANGUAGE: Select English or Chinese using the joystick and press [ENTER] to confirm.
- PASSWORD: Set the keyboard login password.
- DEFAULT: Press [ENTER] to restore factory default settings.
Note:
- Ensure the Network Keyboard is connected to the Internet.
- The default IP address is 192.168.5.180.
- Moving the joystick left while inputting an IP address performs a Delete action.
- Press and hold [ESC] to exit configuration without saving.
2.4 Keyboard Operation
After adding devices, use the keyboard to control them.
2.4.1 Device Connection
ID: Device number.
Step 1: Press the [ID] button, then input the device ID number.
Figure 2.4.1-1 shows the LCD prompt "ID :-" and "ENTER ID -".
Step 2: Input the user password for the device in the Device Login interface.

After authentication, the LCD screen shows the connection state.

Step 3 (For NVR only): If NVR requires local authentication, press [SHIFT] to switch between 'abc' and '123' modes, then input the password.

Example (Password 'ms1234'):
- Move the joystick to select the password input box.
- Press [SHIFT] to enter 'abc' mode, then input 'ms'.
Figure 2.4.1-5 shows the LCD displaying "Login", "Mode: abc", and "*s".
- Press [SHIFT] to enter '123' mode, then input '1234'.
Figure 2.4.1-6 shows the LCD displaying "Login", "Mode: 123", and "****4".
Step 4: Press [ENTER] to log in to the NVR on the monitor.
Note:
- Press [ID] to input different IDs for connecting devices.
- When authenticating NVR passwords, use [Del] to delete characters.
- Use [SHIFT] to switch between numbers and letters.
- In 'abc' mode, press letter buttons to switch between uppercase and lowercase.
- Use the same user level for keyboard authentication as for local NVR login.
2.4.2 PTZ Control
Operate PTZ cameras using the joystick and PTZ function buttons.

Press [SHIFT] to select PTZ mode.

Setting: PRESET + Num + ENTER
Delete: DEL + PRESET + Num + ENTER
Call: CALL + PRESET + Num + ENTER - PATROL

Pause: STOP - PATTERN
Call: CALL + PATTERN + Num + ENTER
Pause: STOP
Use [ZOOM+], [ZOOM-], [FOCUS+], [FOCUS-], [IRIS+], [IRIS-] buttons to adjust the PTZ camera lens.
Note:
- PTZ control is only possible when in PTZ Mode.
- Joystick movement amplitude controls PTZ speed; joystick rotation controls PTZ zoom.
- Press [ESC] or [SHIFT] to exit PTZ Mode.
Chapter III Keyboard Configuration by WEB Server
3.1 Login
Figure 3.1-1: WEB Login Page shows the Milesight web login interface with fields for username and password, and a login button.
Step 1: Input the keyboard's IP address in a web browser.
Step 2: Input the admin user password to log in.
3.2 Device Management
Figure 3.2-1: Device Management displays the web interface for managing connected devices, including search, add, delete, and save functions.
- Add Devices
Method 1: Add devices via searching function
- Click the [Search] button to find devices on the LAN.

- Select a device and click [Add].

Click [Add All] to add all searched devices.

- Click [Save] to confirm the operations.
Method 2: Add devices manually
- Select the device type.
- Input the device IP address and click [Add Manually].
- Click [Save] to confirm.

- Configure Added Devices
- Click [Delete] to remove an added device.
- Click [Del All] to remove all added devices.
- Click [Sort] to sort devices by ID, type, and IP address.
Note: Click [Save] after any operation to ensure changes take effect.
3.3 Keyboard Management
Click the icon to enter the Setting page.
- Network

Note: If a DHCP server is active, select the DHCP Network Type.
- Users
Figure 3.3-2: User shows the Users page where operator users can be added, edited, or deleted, and the Admin password can be changed.
- Hardware
Figure 3.3-3: Hardware shows the Hardware page for turning keypad tones on/off and setting screen back light retention time. Click [Save] to apply settings.
- System
Figure 3.3-4: System displays System information, including Software Version and MAC Address, with options for Reboot, Reset, and Upgrade.
Click ? to reboot the keyboard.
Click ⚙️ to reset the keyboard to factory defaults.
- System Upgrade:
- Browse and select the upgrade file.
- Click "upgrade" after successful file upload. The system will reboot to complete the update.
Note: Do not disconnect power during the update process.
- Configuration
Figure 3.3-5: Configuration shows options to Export or Import configuration files.
- Export: Click Export to back up current settings.
- Import: Click Browse to select a file and click Upload to restore settings.
