6. IP Address Configuration

6.1 Assigning an IP Address Using Smart Tools

Milesight Smart Tools is a software utility designed to automatically detect online Milesight network cameras on your LAN, facilitate IP address assignment, and manage firmware updates. It is particularly useful when configuring multiple cameras.

Steps to configure IP addresses with Smart Tools:

  1. Launch Smart Tools and navigate to the "IPC Tools" page. Enter the device information such as IP address, MAC address, Port number, Netmask, and Gateway. The tool will then display all compatible Milesight network cameras on the network.
  2. Select the camera(s) you wish to configure by their MAC addresses.
  3. Click "Activate" to set a password for first-time use (must be 8-32 characters, including at least one number and one letter) and configure three security questions for password recovery.
  4. Enter the username and password, modify the IP address or other network settings as needed, and click "Modify".
  5. Double-click on a camera in the list or its associated browser link to access its web interface directly.

Refer to the "Smart Tools User Manual" for advanced usage instructions.

6.2 Assigning an IP Address via Browser

If your computer's network segment differs from the camera's, you may need to temporarily configure your PC's IP address (e.g., to 192.168.5.xx with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0) to establish communication. Consult the "Milesight Network Camera Quick Start" guide for detailed instructions.

7. Accessing the Web Browser

The camera is compatible with most standard operating systems and web browsers. Recommended browsers include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.

For assistance with plugin installation, please refer to the troubleshooting documentation:
