Epson ET-2840 / L3560 Series: Start Here

This guide provides essential steps for setting up your new Epson ink tank printer.

Important Information Before You Start

Handle ink with care: Ink may splash when filling or refilling ink tanks. If ink gets on clothing or belongings, it may not be removable.

Additional items may be included depending on the region.

The initial ink bottles are partially used to charge the print head. These bottles may print fewer pages compared to subsequent ink bottles.

Step 1: Choose Setup Method

Select your printer setup method:

If you do not have a smart device, proceed to Step 2.

If you have a smart device: Hold the ▶️ button down until it flashes. Then, use your smart device to complete the rest of the setup process.

Install Epson Smart Panel App

This app assists with printer configuration, even when using the printer with a computer. You can configure the printer while viewing instructions on your smart device. The app allows remote control and more advanced printing functions.

Step 2: Fill the Ink Tanks

Follow these instructions if you selected "No" for smart device setup.

  1. Insert the ink bottle straight into the port to fill the ink to the upper line ⬆️.
  2. Ensure the color of the ink tank matches the ink color you want to fill.
  3. Remove the cap while holding the ink bottle upright ⬆️; otherwise, ink may leak.
  4. Use the ink bottles supplied with your printer. Epson cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-genuine ink. Using non-genuine ink may cause damage not covered by Epson warranties.
  5. Check the upper line ⬆️ of the ink tank.
  6. When you insert the ink bottle into the fill port for the correct color, ink will start to flow and stop automatically when the ink level reaches the upper line.
  7. If ink does not start flowing into the tank, remove the ink bottle and try inserting it again. However, do not remove and reinsert the ink bottle once the ink has reached the upper line, as this may cause ink to leak or damage the printer if the ink rises above the upper line.
  8. There may be ink remaining in the bottle. The remaining ink can be used later. Do not leave the bottle inserted, as the bottle may be damaged or ink may leak.
  9. When the ink reaches the upper line ⬆️ in the tank, pull out the bottle.

Ink Status:

Step 3: Select Language, Country, and Time

Follow the prompts on the printer's display.

Step 4: Charge the Ink

  1. When the "Start Here" message appears, press and hold the ▶️ button for 5 seconds.
  2. Confirm that the tanks are filled with ink, then press the button to begin ink charging. Ink charging takes approximately 11 minutes.

Step 5: Adjust Print Quality and Load Paper

  1. After ink charging is complete, the print quality adjustment screen will appear. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform adjustments.
  2. When the paper loading message appears, load plain A4 paper into the center of the paper support with the print side facing up ⬆️.

Software and Network Setup

Visit the Epson website to install the software and configure network settings. If a CD is included with the printer, you can also use it (Windows only). Once these steps are completed, the printer is ready for use.
