General Instructions and Safety Warnings
- National guidelines concerning approval of auxiliaries must be observed.
- Any alteration or modification of the towing hitch is prohibited and voids the operating license.
- Remove insulating compound and underbody coating from the vehicle in the area of the contact surface of the trailer hitch.
- The trailer hitch is intended for towing trailers and for attaching devices for carrying loads. Any other use is prohibited.
- Vehicles equipped with parking assist systems may experience malfunctions if parts of the tow bar are in the sensor range. Adjust the sensing range or disable the parking assist system if necessary. This is less likely with removable or pivoting ball tow bars when the ball is not in the operating position.
- The trailer hitch is a safety-critical part and must be fitted only by qualified companies. Improper assembly may result in a serious accident hazard. The German text of this instruction is binding.
- For complaints, contact your contract partner directly and provide the charge number found on the type plate.
- Subject to change.
Technical Specifications and Clearances
ECE-R 55 Regulations: Clearance must be provided according to Appendix 7, Figures 25a and 25b of the ECE-R 55 regulations.
Diagrams illustrate required clearances and angles.
Vehicle Weight Considerations:
- Maximum load for bicycle carriers: 60 kg (total), 30 kg (per carrier).
- Maximum vertical load (S): 75 kg.
D-Value Calculation: The maximum towing capacity of the tow bar is determined by the D-value, calculated based on the vehicle's gross weight (T) and the trailer's maximum towing weight (C). D = (T x C) / (T + C) x 0.00981.
