Engineering Data (Reference Value)
Sensing Area (Grounded Metal Plate)
This section presents graphs illustrating the sensing area. Graph 1 shows sensing distance (Y-axis) versus distance from the sensing head (X-axis) for detecting a grounded metal plate, indicating the detection range. Graph 2 illustrates the same for detection from the 'Up and down' perspective.
Influence of Sensing Object Size and Material
This graph demonstrates how the sensing distance is affected by the side length of the sensing object (X-axis) and the material of the object. It compares performance with grounded metal plate (t=1), non-grounded metal plate (t=10), glass (t=10), and phenol (t=10).
I/O Circuit Diagrams
Timing Chart
The timing chart illustrates the sensor's output behavior (ON/OFF) based on object presence or absence for both NO (Normally Open) and NC (Normally Closed) models. It also shows the state of the red detection indicator.
Output Circuit
The output circuit diagram shows the internal connections for the proximity sensor's output, including +V, Load, and 0V. It notes a maximum load current of 100 mA.
Safety Precautions
WARNING
⚠️ This product is not designed or rated for ensuring the safety of persons either directly or indirectly. Do not use it for such purposes.
Precautions for Correct Use
- Do not use this product under ambient conditions that exceed the ratings.
- Sensing Object Material: The E2K-F can detect almost any type of object. However, the sensing distance varies with the object's electrical characteristics (conductance, inductance, water content, capacity). Maximum sensing distance is achieved with grounded metal. Test the E2K-F with specific objects before actual application.
- Influence of Surrounding Metal: Separate the E2K-F from surrounding metal. Diagrams show recommended separation distances: 30 mm for metal objects, 60 mm and 45 mm for other configurations.
- Mutual Interference: When mounting multiple E2K-F sensors face-to-face or side-by-side, maintain separation. Diagrams show recommended distances: 40 mm for face-to-face, 50 mm for side-by-side.
- Effects of a High-frequency Electromagnetic Field: The E2K-F may malfunction near ultrasonic washers, high-frequency generators, transceivers, or portable telephones. Refer to OMRON's Noise of Warranty and Limitations of Liability for Photoelectric Sensors for measures.
- Wiring: Extending the cable does not change sensor characteristics but can cause voltage drop. Do not extend the cable length past 200 m.
- Mounting - Sensitivity Adjustment: Use the included screwdriver to adjust sensitivity. Using a different screwdriver may damage the adjuster. Refer to the Technical Guide for Operation for details.
Dimensions
All dimensions are in millimeters (mm). Tolerance class IT16 applies unless otherwise specified.
Main Unit Dimensions: The diagrams show the physical dimensions of the E2K-F sensor, including the sensing head, indicator location, and cable exit point.
Mounting Hole Dimensions: Features two holes for mounting, each M3 or 3.5 mm in diameter, with a center-to-center distance of 42±0.2 mm.
Note 1: The sensitivity adjuster is only present on the E2K-F10MC@-A models.
Note 2: The standard cable is a 2.9 mm diameter vinyl-insulated round cable with a 0.14 mm² conductor cross-section and 0.9 mm insulator diameter, with a standard length of 2 meters.
