This product is intended for installation only by expert users. Please consult with a qualified technician for installation. Improper installation may result in damage to your equipment. EK Water Blocks assumes no liability whatsoever, expressed or implied, for the use of these products, nor their installation. The following instructions are subject to change without notice. Please visit our web site at www.ekwb.com for updates. Before installation of this product please read important notice, disclosure and warranty conditions printed on the back of the box.
Before you start using this product please follow these basic guidelines:
- Please carefully read the manual thoroughly before beginning with the installation process!
- Please remove your motherboard from the computer to assure the safest mounting process in order to prevent any possible damages to your CPU and/or motherboard's circuit board (PCB).
- The EK- Fittings require only a small amount of force to screw them firmly in place since the liquid seal is ensured by the rubber o-ring gaskets.
- The use of quality, market-proven corrosion inhibiting coolants is always strongly recommended for any liquid cooling system.
Preparing Your Motherboard
Removing Factory Provided Backplate
STEP 1
Remove all encircled screws. There are seven (7) screws on the back of the motherboard that need to be removed. Please store away the factory backplate as it will be reused. [Arrows indicate the screws to be removed on the rear of the motherboard.]
STEP 2
After removing the mentioned screws, also remove three (3) remaining screws from the front side of the motherboard, as indicated in the accompanying diagram, using a Phillips head screwdriver. Then, take off the factory provided backplate.
Removing Stock Cooler
Remove all the encircled screws and standoffs, as indicated in the photo, to remove the I/O cover and mosfet heat pipe cooling solution. You can reattach the I/O cover after mounting the Monoblock.
Applying Thermal Compound
Apply thermal compound on the CPU heat spreader with the enclosed thermal grease, as depicted in the photo. It is not necessary to cover the entire IHS. Applying too much thermal grease will negatively impact cooling performance!
Cutting Thermal Pads
Your block comes with thermal pads that need to be trimmed to fit the voltage regulation area (MOSFET) on the motherboard's circuit board.

WARNING: Dimensions on pictures below are scaled.
Placing Thermal Pads on the Motherboard
Place thermal pads on the PCB as shown in the picture. Please remove the protective foil from both sides of the thermal pads prior to installation!
Placing the Block on to Motherboard
Place the EK-Quantum Momentum TRX40 Aorus Master Monoblock series water block onto the motherboard, or vice versa, as shown in the photo. Ensure that the mounting holes are aligned.
Attaching Block on the Motherboard
STEP 1
Prior to fastening the screws, ensure the mounting holes on the motherboard's circuit board are aligned with the water block.
CPU part: Carefully tighten all the marked screws using a 2.5 mm Allen Key. Do not use excessive force. [Arrows indicate the CPU screws to be tightened.]
Mosfet part - PART 1
Before placing the backplate back onto the motherboard, attach four (4) backplate standoffs, as shown in the photo.
PART 2
Carefully place the backplate back on the motherboard and secure the mosfet part with the factory-provided motherboard (backplate) screws.
STEP 2
EK recommends the use of EK-Fittings. When using fittings other than EK series, please use hose clamps or appropriate substitute to secure the tubing to the barb. The use of biocide containing and corrosion inhibiting coolant is always recommended for any liquid cooling system.
Use this opening as an Inlet Port! ?
Connecting the D-RGB LED Strip
Plug the 3-pin connector from the Monoblock D-RGB LED strip to the motherboard.
Please ensure that the arrow indicated on the connector is plugged into the +5V line as indicated on your motherboard. Failure to do so will damage your motherboard or LED strip. ❌
