Operating Your Trimmer
Installing Batteries
This trimmer requires 2 AA batteries (not included). Alkaline batteries are recommended for longer life.
Diagram showing how to insert AA batteries into the trimmer's battery compartment, noting positive (+) and negative (-) terminals.
- Remove the battery compartment cover by pushing in and down toward the bottom of the trimmer.
- Align the two AA batteries with the positive (+) and negative (-) positions indicated inside the compartment. Insert the negative end of each battery first to ensure it slips easily into position.
- Return the battery cover by pushing it in and up until it clicks into place.
Trimming Your Beard
For best results, start with a clean, slightly damp beard (not wet).
Your trimmer adjusts to five positions, offering beard lengths from 1/8" (shortest) to 5/8" (longest).
- Comb your beard in the direction it grows naturally.
- Place the 5-position comb attachment over the trimmer blades and snap it into position. Start with the longest trim setting (5/8") until you become familiar with the adjustments.
- Begin trimming with smooth, even strokes. Start with your sideburns and work downward toward your chin. Avoid trimming against the natural growth direction to prevent cutting hair too short.
- To achieve a closer trim, adjust the 5-position comb to a shorter setting (e.g., 1/2" or 3/8") and go over your beard again until the desired length is achieved.
Trimming Your Mustache
For best results, start with a clean, slightly damp mustache.
- Comb your mustache in the direction it grows.
- Place the 5-position comb over the trimmer blades and snap it into position. It is advisable to start with the longest trim setting. You can always trim more closely with a shorter setting.
- Trim your mustache from the top down.
- After trimming to the desired length, remove the 5-position comb attachment. Using the blades only, define the outline of the bottom of your mustache.
Storage
For convenience, the trimmer comes with a storage stand to hold the trimmer and accessories.
Maintenance
Blade Care
The trimmer blades are precision-made and require careful handling.
The trimmer includes a removable blade set for easy cleaning.
- Ensure the trimmer is OFF and batteries are removed.
- With the power switch facing you, gently push up under the blades until they pop off.
- To replace, align the tabs on the bottom of the blades with the mounting area on the back of the trimmer and push down until the blades snap into place.
After each use, use the provided cleaning brush to remove any loose hair collected in the blades. Store the trimmer in its stand until the next use.
Oiling the Blades
Oil the trimmer blades approximately once a month. Perform this over a piece of newspaper.
- Turn the trimmer ON and hold it with the blades pointed downward.
- Apply one drop of light mineral oil across the blades.
- Turn the trimmer OFF and wipe away excess oil with a soft cloth.
Do not use too much oil or oil the trimmer more than necessary, as this could damage the motor. Never attempt to oil the motor bearing, as it is permanently lubricated.

Troubleshooting
If your trimmer fails to operate:
- Ensure the trimmer is turned ON.
- Verify that the batteries are properly placed in the battery compartment. Test the batteries to ensure they are working. Always replace both AA batteries at the same time for optimum performance.
- Check the blades for clogging with hair clippings. If clogged, use the cleaning brush to remove the hair.
- If the trimmer still fails to operate, contact a Conair Service Center for assistance (refer to warranty information for procedures and addresses).
