- The selected drink button turns solid when preheating is complete and the brew cycle begins.
- Upon completion, the unit beeps three times, all buttons light up, and it returns to standby mode. Turn off the unit if no longer in use.
- After 5 minutes of inactivity, the unit enters sleep mode, indicated by the illuminated CLEAN icon. Press the CLEAN icon to wake the unit.
- Pressing the FROTH button initiates a 10-second frothing cycle, during which other function lights turn off. Pressing FROTH again stops frothing early.

How to Use the Espresso Machine
Before First Use
- Remove all packaging materials and check that all parts and accessories are present. Remove any non-permanent stickers.
- Hand wash the water reservoir, milk reservoir, portafilter, portafilter baskets, measuring scoop, drip tray, and removable coaster with mild detergent and water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. The four main parts of the milk reservoir lid can be disassembled and reassembled.
Choose the Right Coffee Grind
For best results, use freshly ground espresso beans. The grind should be fine, like table salt. A grind that is too fine may prevent water flow, while a grind that is too coarse may result in a weak flavor. Experimentation may be needed to find your preferred grind.
Choose the Right Cup Size
The espresso machine can make various coffee drinks. Refer to the chart on page 13 for guidance on coffee grounds and brewed volume. The metal coaster of the drip tray can be flipped to adjust the cup height under the brew head.
Quick Start: How to Make Coffee
Fill the Water Reservoir
Fill the reservoir with room-temperature water between the MIN and MAX markings. Never use warm or hot water. Ensure the lid is securely closed.
Fill the Milk Reservoir
For cappuccino or latte, fill the milk reservoir with cold milk between the MIN and MAX markings. Any type of milk (whole, skim, soy, oat) can be used for froth. Ensure the reservoir is properly inserted.
Choose and Insert the Portafilter Basket
Drop the appropriate basket (single or double shot) into the portafilter. The smaller basket is for a single shot, and the larger basket is for a larger drink or a double espresso.
Pack the Portafilter with Coffee
- Fill the basket with finely ground espresso beans using the measuring scoop, without overfilling.
- Use the tamper end of the scoop to press the grounds firmly and evenly, ensuring a smooth and flat surface.
- Clean any excess grounds from the portafilter rim for a proper fit in the brew head.
Place the Portafilter on the Brew Head
- Position the portafilter under the brew head with the handle pointing left.
- Steady the unit with one hand, insert the portafilter into the brew head, aligning the handle with the open lock icon.
- Turn the handle to the right until resistance is felt and the handle aligns with the locked icon, pointing straight forward.
CAUTION: To avoid burns or damage, never remove the water reservoir or portafilter during brewing or frothing. Wait 60 seconds after the brew cycle to remove the portafilter. If making a second cup, ensure the unit is in standby mode before removing or inserting the portafilter.
To Make an Espresso
- Ensure the unit is plugged in.
- Turn on the unit using the power switch.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh water.
- Fill the portafilter with finely ground coffee beans and attach it to the brew head.
- Place a heatproof cup on the metal coaster over the drip tray.
- Press the SINGLE or DOUBLE espresso button. The button blinks during preheating and turns solid during brewing. The unit beeps three times when brewing is complete.
- After brewing, the unit enters standby mode. It will switch to sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity.
- To discard grounds, wait 60 seconds after brewing, remove the portafilter, and let it cool. Use the retention clip to hold the basket in place while emptying.
To Make a Cappuccino or Latte
A cappuccino is equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam. A latte is a larger drink with mostly steamed milk and a little espresso. The machine froths milk automatically.
- Ensure the unit is plugged in.
- Turn on the unit using the power switch.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh water.
- Fill the milk reservoir with milk between the MIN and MAX lines and insert it. (Cappuccino and latte functions require the milk reservoir.)
- Place a heatproof cup or mug on the metal coaster over the drip tray. A large mug is recommended for a latte.
- Use the froth dispensing tube lever to position the froth dispensing tube over the cup.
- Fill the portafilter with ground coffee and attach it to the brew head.
- Press the SINGLE or DOUBLE cappuccino or latte button. The button blinks during preheating and turns solid during brewing. The unit beeps three times when your drink is ready.
- After brewing, the unit enters standby mode and will preheat in the background. It will switch to sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity.
- To discard grounds, wait 60 seconds after brewing, remove the portafilter, and let it cool. Use the retention clip to hold the basket in place while emptying. Clean the froth dispensing tube after every use.
How to Add More Froth or Froth Milk Separately
Position the froth dispensing tube over the cup and press the FROTH button. The milk will froth for about 10 seconds. Press FROTH again to stop. Clean the froth dispensing tube after every use.

Keep it Clean
How to Clean the Portafilter and Brew Head
This method is for espresso only. For cappuccino or latte, clean the brew head, portafilter, and froth dispensing tube simultaneously following directions on page 15.
- Turn off and unplug the unit. Allow hot metal parts to cool before touching.
- Remove the portafilter and discard used coffee grounds. Use the retention clip to hold the basket while emptying.
- Rinse the basket and portafilter with warm, soapy water. Single- and double-shot baskets are top-rack dishwasher safe; the portafilter is not.
- Wipe the underside of the brew head with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove coffee grounds.
How to Clean the Milk Reservoir and Froth Dispensing Tube
- Remove the milk reservoir (tilt up before pulling out). Transfer any remaining milk to another container and refrigerate.
- Wash the milk reservoir and lid with warm, soapy water. Rinse well. Do NOT use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. The milk reservoir is NOT dishwasher safe.
- Attach the portafilter with an empty basket to the brew head.
- Place a large empty cup under the brew head, ensuring there is water in the water reservoir.
- Add fresh water to the milk reservoir and return it to the unit.
- Position the froth dispensing tube over the cup using the lever.
- Press the CLEAN button. Hot water and steam will dispense in bursts. Do NOT remove the cup until the clean cycle is complete (indicated by three beeps and illuminated function buttons). If the cycle is canceled, wait a few minutes before removing the cup due to residual hot water and steam.
- After the cycle, discard the water in the mug and any remaining water in the milk and water reservoirs.
How to Clean the Water Reservoir
Empty the water reservoir between uses. Discard remaining water. Wash with soapy water, rinse well, and wipe dry. The water reservoir is NOT dishwasher safe.
How to Clean the Housing and Store the Unit
- Wipe the housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do NOT use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. Do NOT immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water.
- Do NOT store the portafilter in the brew head, as this can affect the seal.
- Decalcify the unit as needed according to directions on page 17.
How to Clean Milk Frother Internal Parts
Milk residue may require deep cleaning of the frother's internal parts a few times per year, or when milk foam quality decreases.
- Remove the milk reservoir and lid assembly. Transfer any remaining milk to another container and refrigerate.
- Remove the froth dispensing tube and suction straw.
- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the fastening screw.
- Squeeze the tab on the side and lift to separate the covers.
- Lift the froth assembly away from the lower lid cover.
- Gently pull outward on the froth assembly to separate silicone and plastic parts.
- Carefully remove and rinse all small components with warm, soapy water. Washing individually by hand is recommended.
- Reassemble parts as shown in the diagram, snapping covers together and affixing the fastening screw. Re-insert the froth dispensing tube and suction straw, and return the lid to the milk reservoir.
How to Decalcify
Mineral deposits can affect appliance operation. Decalcify when espresso brewing time increases or steaming is excessive. White deposits on the brew head may also indicate a need for decalcification. Cleaning frequency depends on water hardness.
To Decalcify Internal Parts:
- Ensure the unit is cool, off, and unplugged.
- Fill the water reservoir with white vinegar to the MIN and MAX markings. Fill the milk reservoir with water and insert it.
- Place a large cup or jar on the drip tray and position the froth dispensing tube in the cup.
- Insert the portafilter with an empty basket into the brew head.
- Plug in and turn on the unit.
- Press the CLEAN button.
- Repeat steps 1-6 using fresh water to rinse any remaining vinegar.
To Decalcify the Water Reservoir:
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, undiluted white vinegar.
- Let sit for at least 8 hours. The reservoir may remain on the unit.
- Discard the vinegar and rinse the water reservoir thoroughly with fresh water.
