Troubleshooting Guide for Shark's IZ300/IZ320 Series
The soft roller has stopped spinning?
Turn vacuum off and remove floor nozzle from wand.
Remove soft roller using eject tab on left side of nozzle.
[Diagram: Vacuum cleaner nozzle with the soft roller removed, indicating the eject tab on the left.]
Turn the nozzle over, clear away all debris from both rollers, the brushroll chamber and endcaps.
Inspect ends of the soft roller for any signs of wear.
[Question: Does the soft roller spin along with the main roller?]
Reassemble the vacuum and turn it on.
[Question: Is the Suction (Pod/Handvac) Motor on?]
Turn vacuum off and remove floor nozzle from wand.
Remove soft roller using eject tab on left side of nozzle.
My vacuum has low suction or no suction at all.
Have you tried using the boost function? This mode can provide added suction power to the vacuum to help pick up stuck-on debris.
NOTE: This mode has a shorter runtime.
[Diagram: Illustration of the vacuum's control panel showing suction mode display lights (Off, ECO, Deep Clean, Boost) and power mode selection buttons. A 100% charge indicator is visible.]
MODE | IZ300UK / IZ320UK | IZ300UKT / IZ320UKT (Two Batteries) |
---|---|---|
Hand Vac ECO Mode | 60 | 120 |
Bare Floor ECO Mode | 46 | 92 |
Carpet Mode ECO Mode | 30 | 60 |
Boost Mode (Hand Vac) | 10 | 20 |
Suction mode impacts runtime. Use BOOST in short bursts.
My Vacuum is noisier than expected.
Note: The lower power modes (e.g., Bare Floor ECO or Deep Clean) are significantly less noisy. Boost mode specifically is noisy due to the high power.
Remove the handheld vacuum from the wand. Turn on the Handheld.
My Vacuum smells like burning.
Note: There may be a new motor smell for the first couple uses.
Turn off the vacuum.
Disassemble the unit. Remove the handheld vacuum from the wand, and the wand from the floor nozzle.
Inspect the connection points on the handheld, both ends of the wand, and the nozzle for debris, damage, or burns. Remove any dust or debris.
Smell the nozzle, handheld vacuum, and wand separately to ascertain where the smell is coming from.
Often, smells come from improper maintenance / not cleaning the unit.
Follow instructions to clean the unit.
If a particular component smells strongly, steps for cleaning other components can be skipped.
My vacuum has shorter run time than expected
To get the most run time, ensure that the battery is fully charged before use. You can check this by powering on the unit and reading the UI screen or by plugging the unit into the charger. If the UI shows 100% or all 3 battery LEDs are solidly illuminated when on the charger, the battery is fully charged.
Note: The unit can take up to 3.5 hours to fully charge.
Run time depends heavily on cleaning mode and floor type.
ABOUT YOUR ION POWER PACK BATTERY
This product uses a lithium-ion rechargeable and recyclable battery. When the battery no longer holds a charge, it should be removed from the vacuum and recycled. DO NOT incinerate or compost the battery.
When your Lithium ION Power Pack Battery needs to be replaced, dispose of it or recycle it in accordance with local regulations. In some areas, it is illegal to place spent lithium-ion batteries in the bin or in a municipal solid waste stream. Return spent power packs to an authorized recycling center or to a retailer for recycling. Contact your local recycling center for information on where to drop off the spent power pack.
Clear blockages/Clean unit
Empty the dust cup by pushing the slider over a trash can.
Clear away any debris from the cone-shaped screen inside the dust cup (see arrow below), then close the lid.
[Diagram: Cross-section of the vacuum cleaner's dust cup, with an arrow pointing to the cone-shaped screen indicating where debris should be cleared.]
Disconnect the Wand from the floor Nozzle and Handvac.
Drop a small coin (penny, pence, etc.) in one end of the Wand. If the coin doesn't fall through, then there is a clog that must be cleared. Clear any debris or clogs.
[Diagram: Vacuum cleaner wand, with instructions to drop a coin into one end to check for clogs.]
Accessing and Cleaning the Brushroll
To access the brushroll, turn the nozzle upside down. Use a coin to turn the locks on the bottom cover counter-clockwise to open the bottom cover and access the brushroll.
Clear away any clogs or debris around the brushroll. Cut away any hair or string.
Reattach the bottom cover, pressing down firmly along all sides.
Turn the locks clockwise to close.
To remove Soft Roller from nozzle, pull the Soft Roller out by the tab. Tap loose debris off the Soft Roller. Use a dry towel to wipe the Soft Roller clean and to remove any debris caught in the teeth behind the Soft Roller.
[Diagram: Vacuum cleaner nozzle, showing the bottom cover and brushroll, with instructions on how to access and clean them.]
Filter Maintenance
Remove the dust cup from the handvac. Then remove the pre-motor filters from behind the dust cup. Tap filters clean over a bin to remove any excess dirt and debris.
Remove the post-motor filter that surrounds the motor behind where the Dust Cup was previously seated. Tap it over the trash to remove any excess debris.
[Diagram: Illustrations of pre-motor filter removal and cleaning.]
[Diagram: Illustrations of post-motor filter removal and cleaning.]
Reinstall the filters and reattach the dust cup.
NOTE: UNIT will not have suction unless HEPA/post motor filter is installed!
Reassembly and Power Issues
Remove the handvac from the wand (release button on wand), and the wand from the nozzle (release button on nozzle).
Once all clogs have been cleared, reassemble the vacuum.
My vacuum has no power or Intermittent power with No Headlights.
Turn off the unit.
Plug the charger into the unit and a wall outlet.
[Diagram: Visual representation of charging indicator lights: Low Charge (two LEDs flashing), Mid Charge (all three LEDs flashing), Nearly Full (top two LEDs flashing), and Full Charge (top and bottom LEDs flashing, middle off).]
No power (Digital screen errors)
Press the power button (Make sure the unit is not plugged in).
