Table of Contents (Summary)
The manual is organized into sections covering safety precautions, installation steps, wiring instructions, antenna placement, unit installation, and integration with other devices.
Safety Precautions
General Warnings:
- Risk of Death or Serious Injury: Do not install or wire in locations that obstruct vision or endanger passengers. Do not install in areas prohibited by the vehicle manufacturer, as this may interfere with safety systems like airbags.
- Risk of Injury or Property Damage: Use only supplied or specified parts. Ensure secure installation to prevent detachment during driving. Keep the installation area clean and dry. Regularly check the installation status. Ensure wiring does not interfere with moving parts or hot surfaces. Do not block the unit's ventilation holes.
- Prohibited Actions: Do not modify or disassemble the unit. Do not cut the insulation of cords to power other devices. Do not modify or connect the ground cord to other devices.
- Handling Small Parts: Keep small parts away from children to prevent accidental ingestion.
- Cord Handling: Avoid damaging cords by pinching, pulling, bending, or exposing them to heat or metal parts. Secure cords with clamps or tape.
Installation Procedure
- Disconnect the Battery: Disconnect the battery terminal before starting work.
- Install Other Devices: Install supplied antennas, microphones, and separately sold accessories. Temporarily fit them to confirm placement.
- Route Cords/Cables: Route all cords and cables, ensuring they do not interfere with driving or come into contact with hot surfaces or sharp metal edges. Use cord clamps or tape for securing. Ensure power connector is connected last.
- Install Navigation Unit: Mount the navigation unit in the vehicle. Ensure correct installation kits are used if required for your vehicle model.
- Reconnect the Battery: Reconnect the battery terminal securely.
- Check Installation and Wiring: Verify all connections and ensure all vehicle electrical systems are functioning correctly.
Wiring Instructions
Detailed diagrams illustrate how to connect various components, including power, speakers, antennas, and interface cables. Specific instructions are provided for:
- Crimping Connectors: Ensure connectors are fully inserted.
- Removing Lock-Type Cords: Push in the direction of the arrow to remove.
- Antenna Connections: Connect GPS, digital TV, and radio antennas correctly. Keep antenna cords separate and avoid bundling them together to prevent signal degradation.
- Power and Ground Connections: Connect the power connector and ground cord securely to appropriate points.
- Other Connections: Instructions for connecting speaker cords, steering wheel remote control codes, reverse signal, speed pulse, and camera input are provided.
Antenna Installation
General Guidelines:
- Consult your vehicle manufacturer or dealer regarding specific installation requirements and vehicle features (e.g., airbags, heat-reflective glass).
- Adhere to the installation range specified by regulations for digital TV antennas.
- Install the GPS antenna indoors, on the dashboard near the windshield, away from other electronic devices to ensure optimal reception.
- Clean the installation surface thoroughly before applying antennas. Use a hairdryer to warm the surface in cold weather.
- Do not bend or force antennas.
- Do not touch the adhesive surface or power feeding section.
Digital TV Antenna Placement:
- Install the power feeding section and cords within the specified range from the edge of the windshield (approx. 25 mm).
- Ensure antennas are placed in the correct orientation and location for optimal performance.
- Avoid placing antennas over inspection stickers or in overlapping positions.
GPS Antenna Placement:
- Install on the windshield near the dashboard.
- Keep at least 15 cm away from other antennas and devices.
- Secure the cord with cord clamps.
Navigation Unit Installation
Mounting Bracket: Use the supplied mounting bracket and screws. Ensure correct screw lengths are used.
Audio Space Installation:
- Confirm the dimensions of the unit (180 mm width x 100 mm height for 2DIN).
- Ensure the installation angle is within 40° of horizontal. Incorrect angles may affect gyro sensor performance and vehicle position display.
- Do not force the unit into the audio space, as this can damage wiring.
- If the mounting bracket interferes with the dashboard, it may need to be trimmed.
- Avoid pressing hard on the front of the unit or its controls, as this can cause damage.
Connecting Other Devices
This section details how to connect various accessories:
- ETC 2.0 Vehicle-Mounted Device: Use the dedicated connection cord.
- Rearview Camera: Connect the camera using the provided cables.
- iPod/USB Memory: Use the specific connection cable (CA-LUB200D). Ensure iPod is powered on. Secure devices to prevent movement. Avoid high temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Drive Recorder: Connect using the dedicated navigation connection cord.
- Rear Seat Monitor: Requires the separately sold Vehicle AV Interface Cord (CA-LAV200D).
- Video Camera: Requires the separately sold Vehicle AV Interface Cord (CA-LAV200D). Use the appropriate adapter cable for the video camera's connection type.
Installation and Wiring Check
Power On: Start the vehicle's engine (ACC ON) and check if the unit powers on.
