1. Safety Instructions

The detailed precautions described in the user manual are carefully developed with intent to cover all the possible risks. Please read carefully before operating this magnetic stirrer:

  • [Warning] Read carefully the operating instructions before use.
  • Ensure that only trained staff works with the instrument.
  • [Protective ground contact] Make sure the socket is properly earthed (with protective ground contact) before use.
  • Never use the stirrer in any way other than the specified in these instructions.
  • In case of something abnormal happening during operation, please stop using the equipment immediately and contact your supplier.
  • Effects of the magnetic field must be taken into account (i.e. data storage media, cardiac pacemakers...). Keep away from high magnetic fields.
  • When working, wear the necessary personal protective equipment to avoid the risk of:
    • Burns caused by splashing and evaporation of liquids
    • Intoxication caused by release of toxic or flammable gases.
  • Set up the instrument on a spacious, stable, clean, non-slip, dry and fireproof surface. Do not operate the instrument in explosive atmospheres, with hazardous substances, or under water.
  • Gradually increase the speed, reduce the speed if:
    • The stirring bar comes off due to a too high speed
    • The instrument is not running smoothly, or the container moves on the base plate
  • If the stirring bar contains PTFE, please note:
    • Elemental fluorine, trifluoride ion, and alkali metals will corrode PTFE. Halogen hydrocarbons expand PTFE at room temperature.
    • Molten alkali, alkaline earth metals or their solution, as well as elements on second and third column of the Periodic Table of elements will react with PTFE when temperature reaches 300 ~400 °C
  • Process pathogenic materials only in closed vessels.
  • The instrument can only be disconnected from the main power supply by pulling out from the mains plug, not the cable.
  • The voltage stated on the label must correspond to the main power supply.
  • The instrument may only be opened by experts.

3. Control

3.1 Control elements

The S01 series magnetic stirrer features several control elements:

  • Button 1: Used for switching the instrument on/off and activating the reverse mode.
  • Indicator 2 (Green): Indicates when the instrument is powered on. Flashes when reverse mode is active.
  • Indicator 3 (Speed display): Shows the set speed. Flashes during speed adjustment and remains lit when the set speed is reached.
  • Buttons 4 (+ and -): Used to adjust the stirring speed.

(Diagram Description: A top-down view of the Ibx S01 magnetic stirrer. It is rectangular with rounded corners, colored orange. The top surface has a circular workplate. Four numbered points indicate control elements: 1 points to the main power/reverse button, 2 points to the green indicator light, 3 points to the speed display, and 4 points to the speed adjustment buttons.)

4. Operation

4.1 Switch on/off

  1. Switch on: Press button 1 for over a second to switch on the instrument; the green indicator (2) will light up.
  2. Switch off: Press button 1 for more than 1 second to switch off the instrument; both indicators will turn off.

4.2 Reverse mode

Press button 1 to switch ON/OFF the reverse mode and invert the stirring direction at regular intervals.

  • ON: The stirring direction will be reversed every 15 seconds. The function indicator 2 will flash when the reverse mode is ON.
  • Off state: The stirring direction will stay the same, function indicator 2 stays lit.

4.3 Speed setting

  1. Press the button 4 (+ and -) to reduce or increase the speed, the stepping rate is 10 rpm.
  2. Long press the button 4 (+ and -) to change the set speed continuously, the speed indicator 3 flashes during the operation.
  3. When the set speed reaches the max. speed (1500 rpm) or min. speed (15 rpm), the display indicator 3 will stop flashing.
  4. The display indicator 3 will stop flashing and stay lit once the actual speed reaches the set speed.

5. Faults

  • Instrument cannot be switched ON.
    • Check whether the power line is unplugged.
    • Fault in the ignition test. Switch OFF the unit and then switch it back ON.
  • The stirring speed cannot reach the set point
    • Excessive medium viscosity may cause an abnormal motor speed reduction.
  • The equipment won't turn OFF by pressing the switch.
    • Check whether the residual heat warning function is still on and the hotplate temperature is still above 50 °C (the LED screen is still working and “HOT” appears on the screen).

If these faults are not resolved, please contact the manufacturer/supplier.
