Audiophony SLI300.2 / SLI500.2 Low-Impedance Stereo Class D Amplifiers
User Guide
Introduction
The SLI300.2 and SLI500.2 are compact, powerful Class D low-impedance amplifiers. They deliver 2 x 270W into 4 Ohms and 2 x 480W into 4 Ohms respectively. They feature volume control and LED indicators (signal, clip and protection). Connections are via Combo input and Speakon output. For optimum cooling, leave a clear space between the amplifiers.
Safety Information
Important Safety Information
- This unit is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it in wet, extremely cold/hot locations, or in areas with high humidity.
- Failure to follow safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the product or property.
- Maintenance must be performed by authorized technical service only. Do not open the unit as it contains no user-serviceable parts.
- The product contains non-isolated electrical components. Do not perform maintenance while the unit is switched on, as it may result in electric shock.
- ⚠️ Risk of Electric Shock: Do not open the housing.
- Sound Levels: Audio systems can produce sound pressure levels (SPL) harmful to human health with prolonged exposure. Avoid staying in close proximity to operating speakers.
- ⚠️ Warning: Signals potential risk to user's physical integrity and product damage.
- ⚠️ Caution: Signals potential risk of product deterioration.
- Environmental Protection: This product is made of recyclable materials. Do not dispose of it in household waste. Take it to a designated collection point. For more information, visit http://www.hitmusic.fr/directives-deee.php. ♻️
- Instructions: Read and understand all instructions before operation. Keep this manual for future reference. Follow all safety and operating instructions carefully.
- Water and Humidity: Do not use near water, in damp locations, or near swimming pools.
- Installation: Use only manufacturer-recommended mounting systems or supports. Ensure the unit is firmly fixed to avoid vibration. Do not place on unstable surfaces.
- Ventilation: Cooling vents are essential for safe operation and to prevent overheating. Do not obstruct or cover these vents. Do not operate in closed, non-ventilated areas unless adequate ventilation is provided.
- Heat Exposure: Keep away from heat sources such as radiators, heaters, or other amplifiers.
- Power Supply: Operate only at the voltage specified on the unit's label. Consult your dealer if unsure.
- Power Cords: Route cords to prevent them from being walked on or pinched.
- Cleaning: Unplug before cleaning. Use a damp cloth. Do not wash the product or use unrecommended accessories.
- Long Periods of Non-Use: Disconnect the power cord.
- Liquids or Objects Penetration: Do not allow objects or liquids to enter the unit through openings, as this may cause electric shock or fire.
- Servicing: If the power cord is damaged, objects have fallen into the unit, the unit has been exposed to rain/water, it does not operate normally, or has been damaged, refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Do not attempt self-repair.
- Operating Environment: Ambient temperature: +5°C to +35°C. Relative humidity: less than 85% (vents unobstructed). Avoid non-ventilated, very humid, or warm places. Saline environments or proximity to swimming pools may accelerate oxidation and invalidate the warranty.
Device Presentation
The front and rear panels of the SLI300.2 and SLI500.2 amplifiers feature controls and connectors for operation and setup.
Front Panel
The front panel includes:
- Power Switch (1): Turns the amplifier on and off. LEDs on the volume potentiometers light up when the unit is powered on.
- LED Indicators (2, 5):
- SIGNAL: Indicates a signal is present at the power stage input.
- CLIP: Indicates the signal level is too high, potentially causing distortion.
- PROTECT: Indicates the amplifier is in protection mode due to overheating or short-circuit. A brief illumination upon power-up is normal. If it remains lit, switch off, let it cool, and check wiring. If it persists without overheating, consult a technician.
- BRIDGE (5): Indicates the amplifier is in bridge mode.
- Volume Controls (VOL A, VOL B) (3, 4): Potentiometers to adjust the signal level for Channel A (INPUT A) and Channel B (INPUT B) respectively.
Rear Panel
The rear panel features:
- MODE Selector (8): Allows selection of operating mode (Stereo, Parallel, Bridge, Mute).
- LINK A Connector (6): Recovers the signal from INPUT A to be fed into another amplification system.
- INPUT A/B Connectors (7): Combo connectors for Channel A (INPUT A) and Channel B (INPUT B). These accept balanced and unbalanced signals. LINK B connector functions similarly to LINK A.
- Outputs (9, 10): Speakon connectors (OUT A, OUT B) for connecting speaker systems. The specific terminals used depend on the operating mode.
- Power Supply Input with Fuse (11): IEC connector for the power cord. Features a fuse that should be replaced with the same type and rating if necessary.
- Bridge Output Terminals (on OUT A): Specific terminals (1+, 2+) are used for bridge mode output.
Operating Modes
The amplifier can operate in several modes, selected via the rear panel switch.
4-1 - Stereo Mode
In Stereo mode, the amplifier operates as two independent channels.
- Signal Input: Stereo signal is injected into INPUT A and INPUT B.
- Outputs: Channel A is available on OUT A (terminals 1+, 1-). Channel B is available on OUT B (terminals 1+, 1-) and also on OUT A (terminals 2+, 2-).
- Minimum Impedance: 4 Ohms for each output.
Diagram Description: Shows a mixing console connected to INPUT A and INPUT B of the amplifier. OUT A is connected to one speaker, and OUT B is connected to another speaker. Minimum impedance is 4 Ohms for both.
4-2 - Parallel Mode
In Parallel mode, a single input signal is amplified by both channels simultaneously.
- Signal Input: A mono signal is injected into either INPUT A or INPUT B.
- Outputs: Both channels A and B amplify the same signal and output it through OUT A and OUT B.
- Level Control: Adjusted via VOL A or VOL B potentiometers.
- Minimum Impedance: 4 Ohms for each output.
Diagram Description: Shows a mixing console connected to INPUT A of the amplifier. OUT A is connected to two speakers in parallel, and OUT B is connected to another two speakers in parallel. Minimum impedance is 4 Ohms for both sets of outputs.
4-3 - Bridge Mode
In Bridge mode, the two channels are combined to provide a single, higher-power output.
- Signal Input: A mono signal is injected into INPUT A.
- Outputs: The signal is amplified by combining channels A and B. Channel B is deactivated. The bridge output is available on channel A's Speakon connector (terminals 1+ for positive, 2+ for negative).
- Level Control: Adjusted via the VOL A potentiometer.
- Minimum Impedance: 8 Ohms minimum subwoofer.
Diagram Description: Shows a mixing console connected to INPUT A of the amplifier. The BRIDGE terminals (1+, 2+) on the rear panel are used. OUT A is connected to a single subwoofer. Minimum impedance is 8 Ohms.
4-5 - MUTE Mode
In Mute mode, all input signals are muted.
Icon Description: A symbol representing Mute is shown.
