In actual application, routers are networked in different frequency bands to achieve the best network effect.
2 Functions and Features
2.1 Automatically identifying Internet access mode
The router automatically detects and configures the Internet access mode (PPPoE/DHCP), eliminating manual setup. It supports PPPoE, DHCP, static IP, and bridge modes.
2.2 Multi-router network distribution
Supports automatic networking and plug-and-play for multi-unit setups. Network expansion is possible by connecting additional HarmonyOS Mesh+ routers via the H button or Ethernet cables. Wi-Fi and router management passwords sync automatically across mesh units. Devices seamlessly switch to the best-performing router.
2.3 Connecting to your old router (through wired bridge or wireless repeater mode) to form a network
HUAWEI WiFi Mesh 3 can be cascaded to an old router via Ethernet cable, acting as a secondary router. It can also function as a wireless repeater, using the same Wi-Fi name and password as the old router for a unified network experience. This feature is applicable to the 1-pack version. For dual Huawei routers supporting HarmonyOS Mesh+, using this feature is more convenient.
2.4 Ensuring privacy with multiple security mechanisms
Provides robust security with Wi-Fi access control to block unwanted devices. Features guest Wi-Fi for visitors, allowing network access without compromising the main network. SSID hiding enhances security by making the Wi-Fi network invisible to searches. A built-in firewall protects against DoS/ARP attacks. The DMZ feature allows exposing specific devices (e.g., servers) to the internet while protecting others.
2.5 Power-saving features
Offers three power modes (High, Mid, Low) to suit different needs. A Wi-Fi timer can disable Wi-Fi during specified periods to conserve power.
2.6 Parental control
Enables setting internet access time limits and blocking specific websites to protect family members, especially children.
2.7 Router management
Router management is accessible via a web-based interface on computers, mobile phones, or tablets. The HUAWEI AI Life app provides a streamlined mobile management experience.
2.8 Supporting VPN passthrough
Supports VPN passthrough, requiring VPN dialing from a LAN device.
2.9 WPS
Facilitates easy connection of WPS-enabled Wi-Fi devices to the router network.
2.10 Other supported features
- NAT and NAPT (RFC 1631, RFC 2663, RFC 2766, RFC 3022)
- IPv6 network access
- DHCP server and clients
- DNS proxy: Speeds up DNS responses for connected devices.
- Universal Plug and Play (UPnP): Allows LAN devices to request automatic port forwarding for better access to internet resources, improving stability for gaming and downloads.
