2014+ Street and Road Glide Installation

Speaker Installation:

  1. Using three (3) of the provided screws, mount the speaker adapter to the inner fairing. The fourth inner bottom screw location is not used on FLH/Batwing models. For Road Glide models, rotate the adapter until the notches do not interfere with the factory mounting posts, and ensure the flat spots on the adapter's outside face toward the outer edge of the fairing.
  2. Mount the new speaker using the hardware provided with the speakers. Do not reuse factory screws. (Refer to Figure B for visual guidance). For Roadglide and Sharknose models, a longer screw may be needed for the lower mounting hole depending on the new speaker.

HD Street Glide 98 – 13

Step 2 - Mounting Plate and Bracket Mounting:

Using the Type(1) and Type(4) brackets, align the bracket on the bottom side of the mounting plate using the bracket type indicators. On the top edge, screw in the two threaded pins into the mounting plate. These are used to align the mounting plate with the rubber bushings on top of the factory radio.

1998 & 2013 - Street Glide Mounting:

Diagram Description: Illustrates the assembly of the mounting plate with a threaded rod, aluminum heat sink, bracket, and screws. Shows how the bracket attaches to the plate.

Step 3 - Amplifier Mounting:

HD Road Glide 98 – 13

Step 2 - Mounting Plate and Bracket Mounting:

Using the Type(2), Type(3), and Type(4) brackets, align the bracket on the bottom side of the mounting plate using the bracket type indicators. After attaching the bracket to the mounting plate, remove the clutch side fairing bulkhead nuts. Place the bracket over the studs, pushing the bracket upwards while tightening down using the factory hardware.

1998 & 2013 - Road Glide Mounting:

Diagram Description: Shows the mounting plate, aluminum heat sink, screws, and brackets. Illustrates the attachment of brackets to the mounting plate.

Step 3 - Amplifier Mounting:

Mount the amplifier upside down using the supplied screws to the mounting plate. Align the amplifier to the appropriate holes on the plate.

Amplifier Wiring

Once the amplifier is mounted, connect the wiring harnesses to their appropriate sockets. Plug the switched power harness into the 2-pin amplifier connector on the throttle side of the fairing.

Note: Ensure harnesses are plugged into the correct sockets. The 4-pin Molex plugs for the Input/Output Harnesses fit on either side of the amplifier.

Diagram Description: Shows the amplifier's connection terminals (PWR, SPEAKERS, HIGH INPUT, LOW INPUT) and the corresponding wiring harnesses. It details connections for speakers (Front/Rear, L/R, Bridged), power (B+, REM, GND), and input signals. It also shows high-level input connections and a connection to the battery with positive and negative terminals.

Fairing Speaker Wiring

  1. Unplug the factory speaker wires from the existing speaker and plug them directly into the Front Speaker Input Harness. These are labeled for clutch and brake sides.
  2. Connect the new Front Speaker Output Harness to your new speaker terminals.
  3. Route power/ground wires through the fairing.
  4. Install rear speaker wires by feeding the Rear Speaker Input/Output Harness through the fairing towards the rear of the speaker.

Routing Power Harness / Rear Speaker Harness

  1. Pass the Power/Ground Harness and Rear Speaker Harness through the fairing, routing them alongside the factory wiring harness. It is recommended to bundle the new harnesses with the factory harness.
  2. Secure the harnesses together using zip ties for a clean, tight fit.
  3. Due to the wire gauge of the Power/Ground Harness and Rear Speaker Harness, it is recommended to route the wiring under the gas tank, along the top of the motorcycle frame.
  4. Note: Refer to the motorcycle manufacturer's owner's manual for instructions regarding gas tank removal.

Rear Speaker Installation

With the seat removed, route the Rear Speaker Harness towards the rear of the motorcycle, over the fender, and along the brake side of the motorcycle. Unplug the factory speaker wires from the speaker and plug them directly into the Rear Speaker Input/Output Harness. These are labeled for clutch and brake sides.

Amplifier and Amp Plate Installation (2014 – Newer Models)

Street Glide FLHT/Batwing Models:

AMP INSTALLATION

*NOTE*: After installation, the vehicle's head unit must be flashed to achieve proper sound from the upgraded system. Please visit the following link to find a recommended HD shop for head unit flashing: https://technoresearch.info/tuning-centers-map/

If you have a 2020 Street or Tri Glide, complete the following steps before amplifier installation:

  • Remove four screws from the HD Connect Module.
  • Remove the Module from its Bracket.
  • Relocate the Module to the clutch side of the radio and secure it with two 8" zip ties.

NOTE: Some connectors may need to be relocated from the radio chassis to accommodate the amplifier bracket.

  1. Fasten the amplifier to the bracket using the supplied hardware. Insert bolts through the bottom of the bracket and install locknuts onto the amplifier.
  2. After completing system setup, use the supplied hardware to fasten the amplifier/bracket assembly to the radio chassis, ensuring the 10-pin connector and power connector face the throttle side.

HARNESS INSTALLATION

  1. Plug the harness into the amplifier and route the speaker wires to their respective connectors. Separate the speaker connectors and plug the amplifier harness into each speaker.
  2. Important: Over-tightening mounting fasteners may damage your motorcycle. Refer to your service manual for proper procedures and torque specifications. BOSS Audio is not responsible for damage resulting from improper installation techniques.
  3. Plug the switched power harness into the 2-pin amplifier connector on the throttle side of the fairing.
  4. Connect the supplied blue wire from the BOSS Audio Amplifier kit to the switched power harness lead with one wire. This provides an accessory 12V port.
  5. Route both power leads along the clutch side of the frame neck, through the electrical caddy, to the seat area.
  6. Reconnect the battery terminals. Pull excess harness slack back into the fairing, creating a slack loop.
  7. Plug in the radio, but do not reinstall it until the gain has been set.
  8. Test component function and set the gain to optimize system performance.
  9. Carefully reassemble the motorcycle and enjoy your new audio kit.
